Chapter 26
"Yeah."
"She bought it online," William said, his tone revealing a hint of indulgence.
Isaac shivered. "I've got to bounce."
It's just a thermos; he can probably find the same one just about anywhere on the street.
Isaac left and went downstairs.
Nathan, who had been waiting for quite some time, asked, "Mr. Salter, where are we heading to now?"
"Take me home."
As he got into the car, "home" referred to the apartment he shared with Brittany.
"Alright."
William was hospitalized, and all the work of the design department fell on Frank. Brittany keenly noticed Frank's subtle hostility toward her.
"Brittany, this design draft won't cut it. Change the style," Frank said with a displeased expression. "Also, I want to see a new design draft tomorrow morning. If you can't make it, you're out!"
Frank didn't understand why and how Brittany had offended Sydney. Even though Frank valued Brittany's talent, he didn't dare offend Sydney.
She was the cousin of the company's big boss; who would dare disobey her?
Brittany knew that Sydney must have had a hand in this; she took all the design drafts and said, "Got it."
Sydney, shining like a star at the center of attention, was enjoying everyone's flattery.
"Sydney, you're always taking care of William. When are you two going to make it official?"
"His mom really likes me."
Instead of answering the question, Sydney suddenly turned to Brittany and said, "Brittany, William is going to be discharged soon. You don't need to bring him soup anymore." "What, Brittany has been secretly bringing William soup?"
"Brittany, you know that Sydney and William have feelings for each other. Doing such a thing is just downright drama queen behavior."
Their colleagues immediately accused her, and Brittany, hearing these accusations, found them quite ironic.
Sydney was still good at deflecting blame, as always!
She immediately stood up and said to Sydney, "Well, I wish you two all the best."
She meant it. She hoped that William would be happy, and who that happiness was with didn't really matter.
Brittany packed up her stuff, asked Frank for leave, and went home.
Sydney thought she was mocking her, and her face turned red with anger!
Once Brittany got home, she started a new round of work.
When Isaac opened the door, he saw Brittany sitting on the floor, head down, working on her design drafts.
She was probably wearing her soft pink sweater because her suit was too restrictive. Her long hair was casually tied up and falling naturally.
With her delicate hand holding the pen, she was meticulously working on the design drafts.
In contrast to her usual dress, Brittany appeared more relaxed at this moment. Despite wearing black-rimmed glasses, her beauty was still undeniable.
Isaac opened the shoe cabinet, making a slight noise.
"You're back."
Brittany looked up and greeted him, saying, "Zakky, let's order takeout tonight. I have to turn in my design drafts tomorrow, and I'm a bit rushed; I have no time to cook." Frank was intentionally giving her a hard time; she had to buckle down and finish the design drafts.
Isaac walked into the living room, looking down at her design drafts. They were even better than he had imagined.
Brittany was talented and hardworking.
"I'll cook tonight. What do you want to eat?"
"You decide."
Brittany had faith in his cooking skills, so she continued working on her drafts.
Isaac changed into his house clothes and went into the kitchen. The ingredients in the fridge were all bought and used that day because Brittany was too busy to go shopping. So he placed an order for the supermarket to deliver.
While waiting, he took out his laptop, put it on the dining table, and started working.
The room was just the right size, and they were each busy doing their own things without bothering each other.
When the fresh ingredients arrived, Isaac got up to get them but noticed that Brittany was already sprawled out on the coffee table.
She must have been tired; she was sleeping soundly.
Isaac put down the ingredients and went over to her, sayin "Brittany, if you're tired, you should rest. There's no need to push yourself." Brittany was fast asleep, not moving at all.
He rubbed his temples, squatted down, and picked Brittany up.
