The Billionaire And His Son Want Me Back (Paisley)

Chapter 112

Marissa spent the whole day trying to cheer up Grayson, taking him out to play. Anytime she did this in the past and let him have whatever he wanted, Grayson would get especially attached to her.

But today, no matter how hard she tried to engage him, Grayson showed no interest. Eventually, he started crying and insisted on seeing Paisley. With no other option, Marissa had no choice but to take him back to Vanderbilt Manor.

Perhaps because he had been crying all day, he fell asleep shortly after returning home. Marissa looked at Grayson, sound asleep, and felt her frustration simmering.

If she could, she would really like to strangle this little brat. If it weren't for the fact that he still held some value to her, she wouldn't waste her time trying to please him. Just then, her phone rang, displaying Jack's name.

'Could it be that Mr. Vaire has agreed to meet with them?' Marissa thought, quickly leaving Grayson's room and stepping into the hallway. "Jack, has Mr. Vaire agreed to meet us?"

She was desperate for an opportunity to showcase herself to the Vanderbilt family right now. She needed to secure an irreplaceable position in the minds of every member of the Vanderbilt family.

"Yes and no," Jack replied.

His ambiguous answer left Marissa confused and irritated. "What does that mean?"

"I asked around, but the response I got was that Nion won't meet anyone privately."

Marissa's heart sank. "Then...is there any other way I can meet him? I'll pay whatever it takes."

"Marissa, why is it always about money with you? I'm not helping you for the money." Jack was a bit displeased.

"Sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I just really want to meet Mr. Vaire." Marissa quickly switched up her tone and attitude. That was her greatest strength-she could switch her mood in an instant.

Jack's tone softened. "You can meet him, but it'll take some effort. I found out that Nion will be attending the Crown&Culture charity auction in a few days. He'll be donating one of his paintings to be auctioned off, and the proceeds will go to children in impoverished remote areas."

"As expected of Mr. Vaire. He's such a compassionate person." Flattering came naturally to Marissa. "So, if you can get a ticket to that auction, you'll be able to see Nion in person. I can only help you this far. You'll have to figure out how to get the ticket yourself."

"Okay. Thanks, Jack." Marissa felt a glimmer of hope. Getting a ticket to an auction was a piece of cake for her. As long as she could bring Kayla to meet Nion, she believed Kayla would surely be grateful for her.

The kindergarten Sophia currently worked at was a bit far, but Serena really liked it, and Paisley didn't want her daughter to be unhappy, so she immediately enrolled her.

Sophia genuinely liked Serena and played with her for a while. "Ms. Sutton, I'll add you to our Pre-One Class' parent group chat later."

"Alright." Paisley felt a bit of a headache but had no choice. She knew that this was how things worked now. There were endless parent group chats for kids in kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and whatnot.

"Let me walk you out. Tomorrow, Rena will officially start kindergarten." The scene of Sophia personally seeing Paisley and Serena out was witnessed by a parent who happened to come out of the principal's office.

"Is that the new kid? Which class is she in?" The woman's tone was somewhat arrogant. "Pre-One Class," the other replied.

"Oh, the same class as my daughter." That woman sized Paisley up, frowning when she noticed Paisley's casual and ordinary attire.

Not long after Paisley and Serena returned home, Sophia added her to the group chat and introduced: [This is the parent of our new student, Serena Sutton.]

[Welcome, Serena and Paisley.]

[Welcome.]

As Sophia introduced her, the parents in the group immediately began welcoming Paisley warmly. Paisley had no choice but to brace herself and greet the parents in the group. [Hello, everyone. I'm Paisley Sutton, Serena's mom. Nice to meet all of you.]

Just then, a parent with the username "Millie Morgan's mother (President)" next to her phone number sent

a message: [Ms. Sutton, may I ask what you and Serena's dad do for a living?]

Paisley raised an eyebrow and sent a question mark in reply.

Millie Morgan's mother (President): [I hope you won't misunderstand me. All the parents are asked the same when they join the group.]

Since it was a routine, Paisley didn't voice any further objections. After all, their kids were classmates, and she didn't want to come off as out of place.

Paisley replied: [I'm a freelancer.] It was the easiest answer, considering the long list of roles she played. She didn't feel like getting into details, so she kept it short.

After she sent that, the group fell silent. She waited a moment, and when no one responded, she decided not to follow up.
