The Big Bad Wolf Mate

Chapter This Isn’t Over

Kam, Mik and I spent the entire morning discussing how we were going to tell my father about Anderson’s true colors and the betrayal that was coming to him if he didn’t listen.

“Maybe we could tell the council, I mean he listens to everything they say.” Mik said in a sarcastic tone.

“If my father never listened to me, I doubt the council will take me seriously. Besides, in their eyes, I abandoned my pack and shouldn’t be trusted.”

“What about Beta Adam? You two always had a good relationship and he seemed to take your side most of the time.” Kam suggested.

“Telling him could be an option but wouldn’t he want to know why you’re telling him instead of your father?” Mik asked.

“Anderson is Beta Adam’s nephew he would never believe someone from his family would betray him.”

They both looked at me with the most confused looks and said, “His nephew?”

“Yes. When I was first introduced to him, Beta Adam said he had invited him from the Silver Moon pack to fight me because there was no one left in ours that could take me.”

“But that doesn’t make any sense. If he is related to Beta Adam, wouldn’t he know how horrible of a person he is? Or is he in on the scam?”

Hearing Kam say those words made my insides burn with fury. If he had known this whole time then whose to say he didn’t invite him over when he found out my father was ready to retire leaving me to take his place. It was no surprise that every high ranking wolf disagreed with my father’s decision but he had no other choice. I hadn’t met my mate and my brother wrote off the pack as soon as his mate’s father gave him his.

“Girls, I think this situation just got a lot more complicated. I need to talk to my father now.”

Rushing out the door, I made my way to Chase’s office with the both of them in tow. I knocked twice before he answered then turned the knob and walked in.

“Chase, I need to use your phone.”

He looked up in confusion as he sat in front a stack of papers that needed to be dealt with and said, “Can this wait?”

“No it’s a matter of life or death.” I said crossing my arms over my chest as my two best friends stood behind me ready to kick some ass if we didn’t get our way. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Inhaling a deep breath, he pushed away from his desk in annoyance and said, “Very well. Make it quick.”

I rushed to the chair and sat down as he stood next to his desk waiting for me to finish.

“A little privacy, please?”

Looking between the three of us he huffed then walked out the door and said, “You better tell me what’s going on after that phone call!”

I finished dialing my father’s number as he shut the door then put it on speakerphone so we could all talk with him. He never could resist listening to all three of us before.

“Alpha Watson’s office, how may I help you?”

I blinked several times after a feminine voice answered the phone then I finally said, “Yes, this is his daughter. I need to speak to him. It’s extremely important.”

“I’m sorry, the Alpha is very busy at the moment but he told me you would be calling and I have been instructed to take down all the information about your ceremony for him.”

“I'm calling about something else, is he there? Can I speak with him?”

“I already said he is busy but I would be glad to take a message and have him call you back.”

“Listen lady, put my father on the phone right now. This is not about my ceremony...”

The line went dead and just as I was about to hit the button Chase came barging into his office.

"What the hell is going on, Ember? What ceremony are you planning?"

"CHASE! Why were you listening in on my phone call?"

"Because your mate was right, you are hiding something and I want to know what it is right now."

"So he told you to spy on me while I was here?" My anger was growing by the minute but I had no reason to be upset, this was all my fault and now it was about to get worse.

"No. He has no idea what you've been doing since you got here. He just asked me to take care of you but you've been acting weird ever since you showed up and I'm going to get to the bottom of it. Now tell me."

I knew I couldn't keep hiding the secret I had been keeping for over two months now but if anyone would help me without judging me, it was Chase.

"My father's pack is in trouble and he has no clue what's about to happen if I don't warn him. I was attacked at Bishop's pack by a prowler who may have been sent by the idiot trying to overthrow my father's pack but I can't prove it unless I talk to him."

"That's all you're going to tell me?"

"For now, yes. Look I just need everyone to trust me. Isn't that what being an Alpha is all about?"

"But you're not the Alpha, he is and if you know something that could hurt his pack you are obligated to tell him somehow. Could you call his cell?"

His words stung because the truth was, I wasn't the Alpha. I never wanted to be Alpha but here I was trying to be one and so far I had done a horrible job. All I had done since I got here was lied and now I needed to come clean, not just to him but to my mate.

"I need to talk to Bishop. Please keep trying to call my father and if he answers don't hang up, call my cell and I will come back as fast as I can." I said to all three of them as I walked out the door.

Running off towards Bishop's property, I thought about what I was going to say to him. I needed to apologize for leaving and causing all these problems between us. I was the one who should have dealt with Anderson before I left Georgia and maybe there wouldn't be a war about to happen.

When I reached the spot where I first saw Bishop, my phone rang in my pocket and I hurriedly answered it hoping they had gotten my father.

"Hello!"

"Hello, Sweetheart. Missed me?"

"How did you get my number?"

"There will be plenty of time to talk when I see you."

"What do you mean? I'm not going back to Georgia, Anderson, so if you want to talk you better do it over the phone. Now, what do you want?"

"I see you still haven't tamed that mouth. I'm not in Georgia, I'm here in Tennessee."

The gasp that left my mouth was loud enough to wake the dead and when I heard him chuckle on the other end, I knew he was the reason for all the attacks.

"How did you..."

"Your father is a very talkative man, plus he wanted us to be together. He knows how great of a leader I am and what I could do for his pack. Now, I will be at your cousin's in 30 minutes and I expect you be there too."

He hung up before I could cuss him out and I could feel the anger bubbling inside me. I was going to deal with this once and for all but I still needed to talk to Bishop before I went back to Chase's. I only had a short time before Anderson showed up so I needed to confess and hope he wasn't too mad to help me.

Ember, girl you should have told Chase and your mate what was going on months ago. None of this would have gotten this far if you had. Now Chase is pissed and is in the middle of all of this when he doesn't need to be.

What do you think Anderson will tell Ember when he sees her? What will Chase do when this random man shows up?

SIDENOTE: I know most of you have been annoyed with Ember's character but I have written her this way for a reason. She is supposed to be strong yet stubborn, not a damsel in distress who runs to a man for help, even if she was the reason for the problems to begin with. I want her to be this way and I know you all will think she deserves whatever she gets but strength isn't always our greatest quality as women and sometimes we need to learn the hard way.
