Chapter 17
Chapter 17
The Betrayed Luna-
“It certainly didn’t take you as much time as I thought it would’ve. Got Nathan to find out about it quickly.” Jeff grins at him, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
“Answer the damn question, Jeffery. Did you or did you not kill the Theodora’s pup?” Throne grits out, slamming his fist Ashe onto the table, almost smashing it in the His face was red with anger.
process.
“Yes! Yes, I killed that little brat. She overstepped her boundaries and she saw what she should never have.” Jeff snaps angrily, jumping up from the chair he had been sitting in.
“Why? What’s it if I kill some brat? You do more than that so why do I have to sit down here and listen to you bullshit me? What right do you have to lecture me about anything in the first place?” He grits out, eyes red with fury that Thorne had only seen directed at him once in his lifetime.
“Jeffery..” Thorne warns heavily.
“You cannot stay in the pack. You aren’t welcome here.” He states only to see his brother scoff, shaking his head like he’d been expecting that.
“Why can’t I stay? This is my pack as much as it’s yours, did you forget?” He snarls, hands folded into a tight fist.
Thorne halted tilting his head sideways. “What did you just say?” He whispered quietly, his scent had soon become bitter and rusty, clouding the entire office by now.
Jeff raised his head, matching Thorne’s gaze. “This is my pack as much as it is yours.” He says again, jaw locked.
Thorne takes a deep breath, not wanting to lose his cool over this. Jeffery has always been like this, stupid and reckless.
“I want you out of this pack in less than two hours. I’m not risking the lives of every living being in this pack for yours.” He commands, his eyebrows twitching as the words leave his l*ps.
“You have no-” Jeff starts but Thorne is quick to cut him off.
“I have struck you once and I can do it again. Do you think you survived those years because I missed? I let you live on my grace. Don’t start what you cannot finish. I have only accommodated your stupidity all these years for one reason only. This is where I stop. You can deal with your shit well on your own without dragging thousands into it. If you refuse to leave, I’ll have you thrown out.” He says with finality.
Jeff blinked twice, his chest puffed up. “I’m a Lycan, A mere wolf cannot hold me back from staying here if I wish to. Not even hundreds of them can stop me.”
“You’re half Lycan and half Human. You’re an abomination, don’t push your luck and leave immediately. This is the last warning you will be getting. If you don’t heed my words, you will be dealt with my style.”
Jeff’s breath catches, his eyes widening just a bit. He knew it, Thorne wasn’t playing around and he would really do what he said. “Y–you wouldn’t.” He stammers, hating himself for showing even the tiniest bit of weakness.
Thorne cocks an eyebrow up, face as stoic and cold as ever. “Try me.” He spat out as emotionlessly as ever, moving from the table. Jeffery Panics on seeing him about to leave the room.
“Wait.” He rushed out, looking at Thorne with the most deadliest eyes ever. “I have something that would help you.” He says again. Thorne folds his arms over his chest, eyebrows cocked up, waiting without saying a word.
“Theodora. I have proof she’s teaming up with the alpha from the east. They’ve created a potion that weakens wolves. It can-” He stops for a second to look at Thorne.
“It can?” Thorne asks impatiently
“It can cause so much damage to a wolf and even kill the wolf.” He says quietly. Thorne furrows his eyebrows, deep in thought.
“Where is your proof?” He asked just as the man sighed, taking out his phone and scrolling through it for a bit. He passes the phone to Throne who takes a look at it. There were some pictures of Theodora and the man. The alpha from the east. There were some other pictures from a contract signed. Thorne looks at his brother and back at the phone.
“No one knows of the contract they have. No one knows anything yet except Theodora’s daughter saw the pictures and heard me speaking about it. She threatened me and I couldn’t let her go like that. I had to do something so yes, I killed her. If I didn’t, thousands of others would die.”
Thorne looks at him for a second longer and nods, sl*pping the phone into his pocket. “You’re telling me the killings happening east isn’t just because of Theodora but also because of this man?” He asked and Jeffery nodded.
“Okay.” Thorne nods.
“Leave now. You’re excused.” He dismisses the other who nods again, stretching his hand forward for his phone.
Thorne cocks his eyebrows up again, the corner of his l*ps lifting into a smirk. “You’ll have it back once it has been properly scrutinized.” He replied and Nathan rolled his eyes.
“You haven’t seen me in over a decade. At least pretend you-“
“Why the f**k would I pretend? You’re annoying me already. Leave.” He grunts out, watching the man roll his eyes for the second time before walking towards the door, still complaining about some unfair treatment. Jeffery pulls the door open and stops in his tracks. Right outside the door stood his new fascination. Her eyes widen like a Bambi caught in the lights. Her mouth parted slightly, she immediately took a step back.
“You’re here? You’re more dedicated than I thought. What would you say if I-” his words are cut off harshly. A smirk slowly makes its way to his l*ps.
“Leave and allow her in. Stop speaking so much nonsense.” Thorne snaps from inside. Jeff watched the way Natalie’s confused eyes calmed at his brother’s voice. He steps out, allowing her to go in.
He watched as she walked in, bowing slightly before shutting the door close. He wondered just what was going on between the two.
Jeffery walks away from the office, hoping he’s been able to convince Thorne on why he has to stay in the pack. He can’t leave, not yet. He takes out a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, sl*pping into the balcony down the hall. He stared outside, the heavy grunts and yells of the training going on could still be heard. he sl*pped the cigarette stick into his l*ps and took out his lighter, shutting his eyes close as he took his first puff.
All he has to do now is just wait. He has to figure it out… The train of thoughts dies down in his head, a familiar scent enveloping his senses. His eyes snap open, nostrils flare. He turns only to see her standing right by the entrance, her eyes stuck on him.
“You’re here.” He says, a smirk lifting to his l*ps, he takes out the cigarette stick, a trail of smoke leaving his mouth.
“You’re back.” She stated that it was shocking news. Jeffery snorts, sl*pping the cigarette back into his l*ps, he looks away from her, drawing a puff.
“Surprised?” He asked. He hears the door lock, her footstep walking towards him quietly.
“I thought you’d be gone longer than this. Just two decades? What’s that supposed to be?” She asked, folding her arms against her chest.
He smirks, glancing her way. “What do you want, Paula?” He asks, watching the rolls her eyes.
way she
“I was going to ask you that. You clearly didn’t come back for shit and giggles. I know serious business is up.” She points out. Jeff clicks his tongue, nodding. He squints his eyes, trying to see even more clearly the men training.
“Does Thorne even want you back here?” She asked after a beat. Jeffery looks at her, his eyebrows cocked up, his conversation with Thorne running through his mind.
Jeff smiles, taking the cigarette out of his l*ps. “Don’t worry your head about that. That’s between me and my brother. Tell me something else. Tell me about this love life instead.” He says, grinning at the woman. Paula looks at him, a distasteful scowl on her face.
“What love life? He’s engaged to Frances, that’s all there is to it.” She snaps a little more defensively.
Jeffery hums casually, “You must not be aware then.” He says, not missing the curiosity that flashes through her eyes.
“What do you-” she doesn’t get to complete her words as the door opens again. Standing right by the door was Thorne’s supposed bride–to–be. His mate–to–be. Frances stood tall, her b*dy slender, and the white satin dress she wore hugged her curves perfectly. Her blonde hair was let down and curled over her shoulders, her fingers painted in clear shiny paint. Her blue eyes seemed to sparkle with the sun shining on her, her full l*ps curled into a small smile, her eyebrows creased only slightly, her eyes shifting from Jeffery to her godmother.
“Auntie..” she mutters
“I’m guessing this is Frances, right?” Jeff’s voice shouts before Paula has the opportunity to cut in. The woman looks at him, a little stunned and a little cautious. Frances looks at him when he mentions her name.
“Yes, you are?” She asks just as Jeff takes a step forward, standing in front of her with Paula
at his back.
“Jeffery, Alpha Thorne’s only brother.” He makes a dramatic scene as he takes her hand into his large rough ones, bowing only a bit to play a k*ss on her skin. Frances’s eyes dart to her godmother, a little shocked and very alarmed.
“His brother?..” she trailed off.
Jeff looks at her, a small smile on his face. “You didn’t know about your fiancé’s brother?” He asked slowly.
“I do, I just.. I heard the rumors and wasn’t sure so I’m a little surprised to meet you this way.” She stammers.
“I take no offense to it. I knew my brother had-”
“Forgive me for interrupting but Frances, can I come see you instead? I’ll be right behind you.” Paula interrupted before he could get another word out.
France’s eyes widen slightly and she nods, glancing back at Jeff with a small smile on her face. “Please excuse me. I hope to see you under a much better circumstance.” She says and he nods.
“Of course.” He replied, watching the way she walked out, her blueberry scent trudging behind her.
“Whatever it is you’re here for, stay away from her.” Paula grits out, her eyes sharp and mean. Jeff smirked at her words, watching her retreating figure.
