Chapter Epilogue | Round Two
5 years later.
“Xenia?”
Xenia ignored his worried voice, scrubbing the dishes aggressively while she mumbled profanities under her breath. Her eyes glaring at the scrubbing brush in front of her as she moved uncomfortably in her spot.
“Mummy?”
“Liam, go and find your sister. Grace should be in her room doing her homework.” Vincent encouraged, pushing the five-year-olds body while his golden-green eyes looked up at his dad with a pout.
“But mummy is acting weird. Did you make her mad again?” Liam questioned. “You are not sleeping in my bed again like last time.”
Xenia almost laughed as she remembered that day. She could not remember why she was mad that day, but she forced Vincent to sleep somewhere else for that night. The next day she found him curled up with Liam while the kid was wide awake with an annoyed pout to his lips.
After five years, the only thing that had changed was the fact that they decided to move out of the Packhouse. Living in their own little home was refreshing and a great start to their growing family as they had also adopted Grace officially.
Their wedding soon followed as they announced that they had been engaged for months. Both April and Jack had packed a hissy fit for a week before they celebrated. Alpha Zander was happy for them from the start and Tilly was overjoyed in happiness. Linda, the last remaining adult, was also happy, but she had not been the same since her husband’s death. Even Xenia felt a little empty after losing both her parents but that feeling soon went away after the birth of her son.
“Xenia, you are washing a potato with dish soap... ” Vincent spoke, his hands touching both of her shoulders to get her attention. “There is clearly something wrong.”
Xenia shrugged, realising that she was indeed washing a potato like a madwoman before she paused and sighed. It was not like she was mad; she was more confused. So confused in fact that she sent both April and Tilly out to get a few things for her.
“Remember when I was first pregnant with Liam.” She mumbled. Finally grabbing an actual plate so that she could continue with the dishes.
His hands paused from playing with her hair as she could see him frown without looking at his face. “You forced me to feel you up and we were in the middle of a life-or-death situation that I never want to be a part of again so yes, I do remember that.”
“It is amazing that you remember feeling up my swollen boobs before listing everything else.” She laughed, Vincent, shrugging behind her as she dried her hands and turned around to face him. “But all of that is not why I am distracting myself.”
“You are cleaning a potato as if it was a plate, which is enough for me to take you to see that doctor you hate.”
Xenia glared. “He made me pee myself! Of course, I hate him!”
“Xenia, we are here with the goodies!” April yelled, opening the front door, and allowing herself inside the house. “I also brought ice cream for myself. Nobody else... Maybe for Liam and Grace, those kids need it.”
Vincent stared at the girls in confusion, opening his mouth to speak as he eyed the bag but decided against it. Kissing his cheek, Xenia grabbed the bag and ran up the stairs to their bathroom. She wanted to do this alone, she wanted to find out for herself before anyone else.
She felt excitement form at the pit of her stomach as well as nerves while she waited for the results. Vincent, April, and Tilly were already waiting outside as they all refused to tell him what she was doing.
They were not keeping her secret from him on purpose, however, as she asked them to keep it to themselves. Xenia wanted to tell him herself even if it was negative.
Two minutes turned into five as she could check it but was too nervous too. Tugging at her shirt as her boobs were aching. The pain spiking memories from five years ago and she had to sigh at that. She was so stupid back then, the first sign was the fact that she was late for her period but this time around, she was three months late.
Too nervous to look at the stick, she stood from the toilet seat and opened the door, Vincent staring at her with worry as she pulled him in and smiled at the girls before closing the door.
“What is going on!” He cried, the worry on his face caused her to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing. “Are you dying? You must be dying.”
Xenia shook her head, small sounds of her laughter coming out as she nodded towards the pregnancy test on the counter that he neglected to notice. “Can you check that for me?”
“Check what?” He questioned, turning around before he paused. “Oh, oh... ”
“Yeah.” She laughed, crossing her arms while she watched him walk up to it. “I have been avoiding this for the last three months. I have the same symptoms as I had with Liam, but I was too scared to actually find out.”
Vincent picked up the stick, her eyes noticing that he had picked it up by the part that she peed on and silently thanked herself for putting the cap on it. “I knew there was a reason for Blaze’s sudden attitude.” He spoke, a wide smile forming on his face.
Xenia tilted her head, coming up beside him to see the two clear lines on the stick. “Should we tell the girls that it is negative?”
Vincent chuckled. “Definitely.”
