chapter 34
Draco POV
There is only one person who can help Jayne. I hate to even go down that road. It is a risk I will have to take. Tatina needs her. I can keep her and Aurora safe for now but they cannot stay here forever.
I pull my phone out of my pocket and I scroll down to find the name Sin. I hit the contact name to send a text.
“Urgent. Jayne is missing*
It will be a long wait but if anyone can find her Sin can. She is good at her job. Her job is finding people who do not want to be found. I hope I am never on her bad side.
I pull out my laptop while I wait to for Sin to text me back. I check the underground auction sites to see if Lila is going to continue to operate under Craig's name. I select the favorite tab and click on the site. The site is blacked out. Good. At least that is a comfort, another site taken down for now.
I will never kill all the sites or rescue all the fairies but I have done my part. Let them think I am evil. I do not care. The viler they think I am the more the underbelly of our society will trust me. The auctions have to be stopped. Glenn cannot be trusted to do it.
I cannot believe he told Tatina to walk into that game with Craig. He knew it would trigger him after what happened. He knew what would happen. He was willing to play with her life. I will make sure to tell Sin all about it.
I hear the women giggling. It is nice to hear them. I am happy for them. If nothing else they have each other for now. Jayne would probably agree to help Aurora. I am sure she would rather take her than let her stay here with me. After all she thinks I am going to breed her. Never. I would never put a woman through what happened to my sister. To hell with the vampire authority and all of their bullshit. It is time for this to end.
I hear running. I turn to see the two of them laughing and running into the kitchen.
“You guys hungry,” I ask.
"Yes, look I am moving,” Tatina says.
“Must've been something magic in the cheesecake,” I say.
“Must've been. My body started healing after I ate it,” she says.
“Yeah, fresh vampire blood will do that to you,” I say.
She runs to me and hugs me. “Thank you for saving me,” she says.
“It was my pleasure,” I say.
“Can we go outside,” Aurora asks.
“Not yet. You are not a prisoner here, but we have to be careful for a while. I cannot let anyone know Tatina is here,” I say.
“We understand,” Aurora says. Tatina nods in agreement.
“Listen I know you feel like a new woman, but it will wear off. The vampire blood does heal but that energy burst will fade. Take it easy for a few days. You do not need to injury yourself,” I tell her.
“Can we explore the house or is that off limits?” Tatina asks.
“Yes. Again you are not a prisoner. Feel free to roam. If anyone comes I will get to you quickly,” I say.
They are so full of energy. Oh to be in my 20's again. They scurry off to explore the house. There is not really anything for them to see. It is just a house.
I hear my phone ding. I check it. It is Sin.
*I am on it. Jayne is one of the good ones. I will find her*
That is taken care of. Sin will find her and bring her back safely. If Jayne needs help I will help her. If I help her I would have to tell her my secret. I am not sure I am ready for that. Too many people know already.
“I am leaving sir,” Henry says.
I forgot he was still here. He has been with me so long. He has worked for me since I pulled his daughter out of an auction in Mexico. He should've retired a long time ago. I think he would keep coming if I fired him. He owes me nothing, but feels like he owes me everything. His daughter is now living a new life with a new identity. I wish someone would've helped my sister. She never had a chance.
Aurora and Tatina are running around the house like kids. I hear them giggling. The laughter in the house is a nice tone.
“You know it is okay to be a happy for a moment. You did a good thing for them,” Henry says.
“I will see you in the morning,” I tell Henry.
He leaves. My phone begins to buzz. I grab it there is no way she found Jayne this fast.
*I found her*
Sin, Hell yes. She found her.
“Bring her to me as quickly as you can* I text back.
*I found her. I do not have her. But I will *
She text back.
I know she will. I don't know how but she always comes through. She can do things other cannot, but at what cost.
I try to occupy myself while I wait. It may not be today. It may be a few days before she has her. I am not going to say anything to Tatina yet. I would hate for her to worry more about what is going on. Not right now when she is enjoying herself. They both deserve to have a nice quiet night.
I sit in the kitchen enjoying only sounds of them talking. The house is quiet. My sister always enjoyed quiet nights. The quiet never lasts. Tatina comes running into the kitchen.
“There is something wrong with Aurora,” she says.
I speed past Tatina to find Aurora lying on the floor.
“What happened?” I ask.
“I do not know. She just fainted,” Tatina says.
I touch her forehead. She is very hot. I pick her up and carry up the stairs.
“Tatina, come with us. I want you to stay with her at all times,” I say.
I hope this is not what I think it is. I push open the door to Tatina's room. I lay Aurora on the bed. She blinks rapidly.
“What is wrong with her?” Tatina asks.
I do not answer her. Aurora opens her eyes slightly. I need her to wake up I have questions I need answers to.
“Aurora, I need you to listen to me. I need you to tell me if anything happened at Craig's,” I say very softly to her.
Aurora shakes her heads yes. “Was it a vampire who did it to you or a human?” I ask her.
“It was the wolf,” she says.
“A wolf, are you sure? Who was the wolf?” I ask her.
“Emno, the wolf,” she says.
“What is going on?” Tatina asks. She is panicking.
I sit Tatina down. “Listen to me very carefully. She is going to have a very bad night. She could die but we are going to try very hard to save her. She is pregnant by a wolf,” I say.
“What?” Tatina says obviously confused.
“Hybrids cannot mate with wolves,” I tell her.
“What will happen to her?” she asks.
“If she survives the fever she will live. I need you to help me keep her cool all night. We can wet blankets with cold water. It is not going to be pleasant, but we have to try. I am going to get some ice so we can pack her in ice in the tub,” I say.
Tatina sits with her new friends while I retrieve the ice. I return quickly and start filling the tub with ice. I pick Aurora up and put her in the tub. Tatina wets blankets with cold water. We wrap Aurora up tight in the blankets.
“How did you know?” Tatina asks.
“This is how my sister died. She was raped by a wolf. He bought her at an auction,” I tell her.
Tatina sits down beside the tub. “I won't leave her,” she says.
