The Alphas Wonder Land Phoenix Mountain Book 9

Chapter 36

DAMICA

“Well. What do you think?” I smile as I walk into the condo.

Rex and Greg walk in and look around. Greg drops his duffle. “Swanky.” He grins and walks to the sliding doors. “Geez, you can see the whole desert from here.”

I nod. “Yep. Now, upstairs is 4 bedrooms. Each has a private bath. So, if you want to move other pack members or a live in maid or something…”

Greg spins. “French maid.” He grins a dirty grin.

Rex points to him. “No.”

“Zero fun!” Greg snaps back. “I’m calling my room.” He walks over, grabs his bag and runs up the stairs.

I turn to Rex. “There’s beds upstairs, but we can shop for the rest tomorrow. Sawyer opened the coffers to you, so for the next little bit, finances will be taken care of by us.”

He walks over and rubs my shoulders. “Thanks kid. I know a lug like me doesn’t deserve any of this, but it’s nice that you have faith in me.”

I wrap my arms around him. “You deserve it. You may have made my life a nightmare, but as weird as it sounds, it was a happy nightmare for the most part. As far as dad’s goes, you don’t do too bad.”

“Speaking of dads. It’s great you think of me as one, but you do have one.” He eyes me.

I separate and put my hands in the back pockets of my shorts. “Yeah, we’re taking baby steps. He still doesn’t know about all this and I don’t know if I want him knowing. Plus, I still feel angry about the whole institution thing.”

“I get that, but please, just try. He needs to know what a great kid you are. I’m proud of you. Let him be proud of you too.” Rex slings an arm around my shoulder and shakes me a bit.

“Yeah. I know. I will.” I smile and tuck my hair behind my ear. “Hey, I never asked you. How did evil you know about us? Shouldn’t his memories be different?”

He nods. “They are. He's been shadowing me for years. Disguising himself and pretending to be one of my pack. He saw everything we ever did. Including all the times you crossed over. He told me he was just waiting for the right time to make the switch. When he heard about the plan to take Eternity down, he waited for the cosmics to leave and jumped me. He held me in a cave and pretended to be me. Miranda suspected and followed him. She saved me. I just wish it wasn’t too late.” He hung his head.

“I know. Is it selfish of me to be glad about that? Just a little bit?” I eye him.

He shrugs. “No. I’m kind of glad. I wasn’t liking not being able to see you and check in on you every once in a while. I guess I can thank evil me, but it blows not being able to help those people.”

I nod too. “Maybe someday we can help them.”

“If there’s anything left.” He rubs his neck.

“Well, I’ll let you get settled. The council meeting is in a few hours. I sent the address to your phone.” I smile.

He pulls it out. “I’m still trying to figure this damn thing out.”

I swipe it. “You put your thumb there.” I point to a spot on the screen.

He does it. “Oh, now it works.” He growls.

I chuckle. “Ok. See you later.”

“Later.” He waves and I leave.

My heart still hurt for the land I lost, but I’m not giving up hope. I still believe there’s some way we can save them and while I’m Luna, I’ll never stop looking for one.

I enter the council room with Sawyer. Everyone cheers us as we walk in.

“Thank you. Thank you.” Sawyer bows. He kisses my cheek. “Go see your friends.”

“Ok.” I kiss him again and walk to the Luna room on the right side of the council room. All the girls are there.

“Hello, ladies.”

I’m greeted with hugs and hellos. I sit next to Lana who seems to have grown attached to me as she sits glued to my side. “So, how is it being a Phoenix Luna?” She asks.

I shrug. “Not sure. I haven’t really done much in terms of Luna jobs yet. I’m still learning what that means. I spent my life not knowing about all of you. So, I’m still absorbing this.”

“That’s fair.” Sam says. “How’s Sawyer?”

“He’s been so sweet. I don’t think I could have gone through all this without him. I think things would have been a lot different if I met anyone else.”

I take the tea Taylor made me. “Honestly, I’m just glad my life makes a little more sense now. Hopefully, I’ll have a bit of peace now that things have calmed down.”

“ALPHAS!”

We all turn to the doors.

Someone runs in. All the Lunas head for the door.

“Declan?” Zander looks confused. “What’s going on?”

He catches his breath, leans on the table and shakes his head. “You won’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it. I had to check the feed twice to see of it was fake, but it’s not.” He looked at Zander with a pained face. “It’s real. Really real.”

“Declan. Slow down. What happened?” Zander held up his hand.

Declan punched some buttons on his tablet which brought up the monitor behind him.

“Oh my god.” Ricky’s fingers came to her mouth.

“What the hell?” Some of the Alphas lean forward in their seats.

Some of the Lunas gasps. I looked at the screen confused.

Declan swallowed. “Zander, it’s gone.”

Zander turned to Declan with a shocked look on his face.

“Falcon Ridge is gone. Eternity hit them and it’s all gone.”

We all looked at each other with disbelief.

Sawyer looked at me as I held myself. We both couldn’t believe what we were seeing.

On the screen was a video feed from some sort of helicopter or drone. The blast site was huge. The place was leveled. Debris spread out all over.

Zander looked at the Alphas. “Search and rescue. Go now!”

They all stand and rush out. Sawyer stopped and put his hands on my cheeks. “I’ve got to go. The girls can get you home.”

I nod. “Good luck. I love you.” I say with concern on my lips.

“I love you, too.” He kisses me then leaves with the others.

The Lunas all looked hurt and worried. I don’t know this Falcon Ridge, but I can tell that whoever was in that building are dear friends. I walk to them and try to console them and ease their worries.

I said wanted peace. I should have kept my damn mouth shut.

OWEN – THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE MOON

I walk through the office hall ways, smiling and saying good morning to people as I walk to my office.

I get on the elevator and check my suit jacket. I straighten my tie in the elevator mirror.

Running my hand through my long on top, professionally cut, black hair, I give my face a check.

My floor dings and I make a right. Walking to an area where my receptionist sits.

I lean on the desk. “Good morning, Christine.”

“Alpha. You look awake today.” She smiles. Flipping her blonde hair over her shoulder. My eyes float to her cleavage. I bite my lip.

My eyes meet hers. “Yeah. I’m trying to lay off the caffeine. Hey, did your sister get the baby blanket I sent her?”

“Yes, she did. That was so sweet. You didn’t have to do that.” She grinned.

“Yes, I did. Babies should be celebrated. It was the least I could do.” I lean on the counter of the desk. “Could you make my charity donations and cancel my three o’clock. I’m trying to land the Axelridge alliance and I need the time slot.”

“Sure thing. The same amounts?” She grabs a notepad.

I twist my lips. “Um…Double them. It was good month this month.” I flash a smile.

She drops her pen. “You know, it may be unprofessional, but I have to say. Buying gifts for babies. Charity donations…You really are one in a million.”

I stand and fix my jacket. “It doesn’t take much just to be nice.” I wink.

She laughs.

“Ok. I’m in my office for a few hours, then I’m in a council meeting.”

“Shall I direct your calls?” She says.

“Of course.” I start to walk away and spin. “Oh. Christine. Order yourself some flowers. On my account. Dress up your desk a bit.”

“Thank you.” She swoons.

“Anytime.” I smile and turn back around. Yep, that’s me. As nice as they come…when I want to be.

After putting in a few hours in my office, I have a council meeting to get to. I walk in and Sawyer isn’t back from his mirror world or whatever. So it should be a quiet one. Good because I can’t stand his snarky attitude. He’s a red wolf so you really don’t expect much from those criminal asshats.

After expressing my intentions with Axelridge, Ricky gave me the green light to set up the talks with Finn Treznor. The city’s Alpha. He may have said no to the hicks in Falcon Ridge, but this master negotiator always gets the deal signed.

They talked about the mission and I pretty much tuned that out. I really haven’t been interested in this whole thing since it started. I’m a politician, not a fighter. I don’t expect to be one of these guys, but I’ll cheer them on I guess.

After the meeting was called, I grabbed my latte to go and walked out the door.

I’m slammed by some punk with goofy, curly brown hair. Jakes friend I think.

“What the hell, you little shit?!” I yell as I look at the coffee all over my silk shirt.

He looks at me with wide eyes. “I’m so sorry, buddy. Damn…um…I heard lemon gets that out.” He points to my shirt.

I pull at it. “This shirt cost more than your fucking life, you dipshit. It’s Italian silk! I’m not fucking paying for it!”

“Oh totally! I’ll wash to for you. No problem.” He sweats.

I grab him by his collar. “It’s dry clean only, you little puke.” I growl.

“Uh. Ok.” He squeaks. “Um…What’s that mean?”

I jut my chin out as my face gets redder.

“Whoa. Owen. Let him go.” Jake grabs my arm.

“This idiot is your friend?” I glare at Jake.

“Uh, yeah. What’s going on?” He looks at my shirt and looks his friend.

“Sorry! It was an accident.” He shrugs.

“Yeah. An accident I’m stripping off your ass. I shake him in my fist.

“Owen. Owen. I’ll pay for it. Trust me. Len’s an idiot, but he’s a nice idiot.” Jake nods to me.

“Hey!” Len scowls at Jake.

Jake scowls back. “Shut up.”

I rip my hand off of Len. “I’ll send you the bill.” I growl as I look Len over. I point to him and look at Jake. “Keep this idiot away from me.”

Jake crosses his arms. “Sure.” He grabs Len and they walk off, talking between themselves.

I look at my shirt. “Fuck.” I flop my hands to my sides and stomp to my office to get changed. I have an appointment in two hours and I’m already running late.

Two hours later, I’m twirling my business card with an O on it in my fingers.

I lick my lips as I set it in the basket next to my boudoir closet with the others.

I open it and choose my weapon.

I look back to the red head hand cuffed to my bed. I think as I suck my teeth. “You look like a riding crop kind of girl.”

She moans through the ball gag and turns her head to me even though the blind fold doesn’t allow her to see me.

I scan through my door full of various whips, cuffs and crops.

I grab a crop and turn. I slap it off my leather covered thigh and she flinches at the sound.

“You like that, don’t you.” I drawl as I grab my keys.

She mumbles a yes.

I climb on her and take the cuffs off. I flip her over and cuff her hands behind her back.

I fix her thong in between her cheeks, run my fingers down her bare back and smack the crop off her ass. “Yes, what!” I demand.

She yelps. “Yes, Alpha.” She garbles.

I straddle her back, grab her chin and pull her head up to me. “You came to me to learn. Don’t go forgetting the rules.” I growl in her ear. I smack the crop off her ass behind me. “Tell me you want it.” I take the gag out of her mouth.

She’s panting. “I want it, Alpha.”

“Beg me for it.” I pull her chin more.

“Please, Alpha. Please, I want it.” She whines.

I smack her ass again and she lets out a little scream. “You love the pain, don’t you?” I run my nose up and down her cheek.

“Yes, Alpha.”

I hit her again and she squeals.

“I can smell your arousal. You’re a bad girl, aren’t you?” I nip her ear hard.

“Yes, Alpha.” She winces.

“Tell me you’re a bad girl.” I purr in her ear and run my tongue to her ear.

“I’m a…”

My phone alarm goes off.

She turns her head. “Already?”

I get off and unlock her. “An hour goes quick. Maybe pay for two?”

She gets up and takes the blindfold off. “Ugh. I swear these sessions just go way too fast."

I put my toys away and close my closet. “It means your almost ready. It was good. I’m sure your mate will really enjoy what you learned.”

She seductively walks up to me. “I’m not totally sure if this is for my mate now.” She smiles. She glides her fingers down my bare chest. I gently grab her wrist. “This is professional. There’s no emotion here. Rule number 1. Rule number 2. You don’t dare come on to me. I come onto you. Got it?” I arch a brow to her and tilt my head.

She smirks. “Yes, Alpha.”

I shake my head. “See you next week, Annie.”

She grabs her purse. “Bye, Owen.”

I shut the door, pull out the 1000 cash Annie paid and stuff it into my lock box.

Damn. I love my life.
