The Alphas’ P**n Star Mate

Chapter 21 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate

I lifted the keys in my hand and jingled them with a sarcastic look on my face. I was too tired for this. "Relax, Deuce Bigalow. I have my own key."

He let out a low snarl, and that was when I realized he was a werewolf. His scent was weak, but now that he was getting annoyed I could feel some of his aura. "Stolen keys?""Nope," I gave him my fakest, sweetest smile. "Rodger handed them to me last night. Ask him yourself if you don't believe me. I'm going to bed."

"No you're not," he sidestepped to block my path, pressing his hand against my door frame like a dick. "Not until Rodger gets here to confirm this himself.""Call him then, dickwad. Quit being an ass to me. I'm just trying to go to bed."

"At this hour," he scoffed. "No. Your psycho ass definitely broke in. It's all an act, sweetheart. If you came for a real life boyfriend experience, you're not going to get out. I don't do commitment and I sure as shit am not going to sleep with a stalker who steals keys to get in and harass me."

"You are the one harassing me right now," I glared. "I also wouldn't sleep with some arrogant prick like you, even if you were the last asshole on the face of the earth. Move!"

I tried to push against his chest but he wouldn't budge. Cortina was watching with curiosity, lending me her strength, but the jerk still couldn't be moved. He stood his ground, not even flinching from my touch.

Well, he did flinch, but not like I wanted him to. His chest just shivered a bit the first time I touched him, and it was so subtle that I may be mistaken. I may also have misheard the small gasp of air he let out, mistaking it for my own tire outburst as I strained to get him to move. "JUST MOVE!" I exclaimed, glaring into his blue eyes and flipping my long hair out of my face. That action brought his focus to my neck, and a moment later he was running his fingers over my mark.

It was strange. When Darren touched it or kissed it, I felt nothing. When this asshole touched me there, the softest tremor ran down my spine, and I accidentally let my breath hitch.

"You have a mate," he said, looking confused. He was searching my eyes for something, probably trying to catch me in a lie if I tried to deny it.

"I had a mate. The asshole and you might get along if you ever meet. He had greasy hair and a shit personality too."

His eyes narrowed and he dropped his hand. He opened his mouth to say something, but then the elevator dinged behind me and Rodger came hurrying out.

"Mick! Jeez, you came back early," Rodger panted. He was in flannel pajama pants and a white t-shirt. His graying hair looked like he had just jumped out of bed. "I would have called you had I known you would be back so soon. I see you've met Chloe." The asshole, Mick I guess, looked down at me with a skeptical gaze. "So, she isn't a break in?"

"No, Rodger laughed softly and shook his head, coming to take the keys from me and help me to open my door. "She is our newest guest and a very important one at that. I have already told this to the others, and I expect even you to treat her with respect." "Humph," Mick crossed his arms over his chest. "She's a woman."

"Thanks, Captain Obvious," I rolled my eyes, mimicking his stance. "Was it the tits or my size that gave it away? It can't be my hair products, since you are using way more than I am."

"She's got a mouth on her too," his frown deepened.

"I found her to be sweet and accepting. If you've gotten on her bad side this quickly, you have only yourself to blame." Rodger swung my door open for me and waved me inside with a smile. "I will be back up to get you at around ten, Chloe. Go and get more sleep. I'll let Mick know your situation so you can rest comfortably. There won't be a misunderstanding again."

"It's fine, Rodger. Thanks for your help." I let my smile drop into a disgusted look, turning up my nose at Mick before flipping him off. I then turned on my heels and left the two of them standing there in the doorway. I wanted to sleep, and only had about 4 hours to get some. "Spit fire, that one," Rodger chuckled under his breath.

I smiled at myself as I closed my door, until Mick had to open his big mouth again. "Seems like a headache!"

Dick. I guess there had to be at least one person in the building that I hated. Mick's the winner of that prize.

Mick POV

I watched with sweaty palms and a sour taste in my mouth as the brunette beauty with fire in her deep brown eyes closed the bedroom door. My chest was tight, and had been ever since she touched it. It was like I couldn't breathe. "She's a wolf too," Rodger told me.

"I figured. I saw the mark on her neck." I couldn't pick up any smells, but that isn't unusual for me. Being an Alpha but not having a wolf is why I'm here in the first place.

"Yeah. Poor girl." Rodger's a kind person, even for a witch, but the look he had on his face as he stared over the brunette firecracker was an entirely different kind of kindness. I could tell he cared about her a lot already, and I was curious as to why. Did the witch have a little crush? If he did, I couldn't blame him. She was exceptionally beautiful, even dressed in boxers and a sweater.

The sadness in his eyes tells me that a crush might not be what he feels for the girl. He has never shown that kind of interest in any woman or man since I came to live here. We all know his story. After a love loss like his, I wouldn't be able to recover either.

"Let's go into your place and talk. She looked tired. I don't want to disturb her slumber. She's had nothing but a restless and painful sleep for a year. I want her to be comfortable here."

"Restless and painful? What the hell happened to her?" I asked.

He shook his head, indicating to go across the hall as he closed and locked her door. He smiled gently at the door before turning to mine.

Once we were both situated on my couch, Rodger told me how Chloe came to be here at Broom StiXXX.

"Damn," I murmured, staring at the ground. She told me I was like her abusive mate. That doesn't settle well with me. Not at all. I would never treat anyone the way her mate treated her, let alone my mate. Not like I'll ever have a mate, being wolfless and all, but if by some miracle I did, I would treasure her above all else. I sure as hell wouldn't use the fact that she's in a damn coma to try to impregnate every mateless she-wolf in my pack. "She's a luna in hiding then? Is that why your sisters sent her here?"

"That, among other things," he smiled sadly. "This is where she belongs. At least for now. I'm going to protect her, and I'd appreciate the help from all of you as well."

"Yeah. For sure. Anything you ask, boss." Any one of us would do anything for Rodger, and he rarely asks for anything in return. "She, uh, might not want my protection. I thought she was another psycho that broke in."

"I noticed she wasn't a fan," he laughed with a little too much mirth for my comfort. "She escaped by strutting out of her pack's hospital butt naked to throw everyone off thinking she was just a warrior hurt in training. She's bold and fearless. She's not going to fall to your knees like those girls that come to see you on ladies' night."

"Right." I don't know why that bothers me the way it does. It should give me a sense of relief, but instead it makes me want to go back in time to redo our first meeting.

"I am going back down to get ready to take her to get the things she will need to start her life here." Rodger pushed himself up from the couch. "Just try apologizing next time you meet her. We don't want discord in the building.""I guess I'll have to work hard to change her opinion of me." Why do I feel like that is easier said than done?
