Chapter 56
– Kieran –
Chapter 56
It took another two weeks for Kieran’s party to leave for the Cross River Pack. The king had regained his muscular strength and
had practiced shifting into his wolf. When they were more confident that the king was ready to travel, Kieran decided it was time
to join the rest of his men.
Moreover, the warriors on watch had warned that the queen’s men had already entered the nearby towns. It would not be long
before their enemies would reach Morgan’s home and find their scent lingering around. They had to leave soon to give Morgan
and her aids time to remove every piece of evidence that proved their visit.
They traveled for another two days and finally arrived at the Cross River Pack at dawn. Kieran’s warriors were waiting for him at
the entrance of the territory, but more significantly, the king’s guards and beta were anxiously standing by the border to welcome
Balthasar.
I could not help it. The king ordered everyone to stop at the pack’s entrance. Kieran stood guard while watching the king get off
from the car and embrace his beta. Balthasar said, “Ford, thank you for staying loyal to me, protecting me, and taking the
initiative to have Kieran take me out of the palace. I would have died back there. I will forever be grateful.”
Ford was in tears. Kieran noticed how he relished the king’s hold and scent. He replied to Balthasar, “I am thankful to the Moon
Goddess that you are alive, My King. And this is not just about Taplean. I was earnestly concerned about my old friend,
Balthasar. I am relieved that you are alive and well.”
The king’s guards surrounded Balthasar, saying, “Hail to the king! The king is well and alive! The nation will be saved!”
“Hail to the king!”
“Hail to the king!”
It wasn’t just a reunion for the king and his loyal men. Kieran turned to his left and saw Alexia hugging Rae and Melissa tightly.
From behind Rae, Jaxon was there, giving him a nod. His own beta didn’t say it, but Jaxon was pleased to see him as well.
After the quick gathering at the border’s entrance, they all made their way to the packhouse, where Kieran’s followers had
prepared a bed for

the king. Balthasar rested for a few hours with his loyal guards at the door. With that, Kieran had the free time to get an update
from Jaxon.
Kieran learned that there were security matters within the pack. Some members were still apparently loyal to Roland that they
threatened to report to the queen. News has reached how Kieran was considered a traitor to the nation and how he had
kidnapped the king.
In the living room of the packhouse, Jason and Rae updated Kieran about everything. They all settled on the sofas, along with
Seth and Ace, Kieran’s warriors.
“We had to lock up a few of those who opposed. We don’t know if using the king’s name would be helpful, Rae explained. “So we
did not announce the king’s arrival.
“Mellisa’s and Dean’s families helped greatly appease the locals. They stood up for you and claimed your innocence. Many of
those who came with us did. However, we don’t know how long we can keep this up,” Jaxon reported to Kieran. “For now, we are
keeping the borders as secure as possible. No one gets out of the territory without my permission.”
“I think we should tell them about the king.” Alexia suggested. “They would realize the king is on our side and the queen betrayed
the nation.”
“I agree,” Seth said.
“Then. Alpha Kieran would be free of the charges of kidnapping. The locals will know that Alpha Kieran saved the king from
dying instead,” Ace added, and everyone else echoed his words.
“I’ll discuss this with the king when he wakes up,” Kieran replied. Glancing at Jaxon and Rae, he said, “Thank you for keeping
everyone within the territory. We are not ready for the queen to come after us now.”
They covered a few more concerns regarding the Cross River Pack before their quick huddle ended. Jaxon then handed a white
envelope to Alexia, saying, “Luna, this is for you to read. The paternity test result.”
Kieran watched as Alexia accepted the envelope. She sighed, gaping at it for a very, very long time. She said, “I guess this is it.”
At that point, everyone was looking at her, waiting.
Noticing her nervousness, Kieran closed the gap between him and his wife. He put an arm around her and encouraged her, “Go
ahead. Read it. It’s time to learn the truth, once and for all.”

Alexia cautiously took out the result. Her hand was shaking as she unfolded the paper. She read the report, and instantly, blood
drained. from her face.
His wife cried. She wept so hard that Alexia crashed into Kieran’s arms, her hand clenching against the result.
Rae and Jaxon gave Alexia a look of concern. Rae kneeled before Alexia, asking. “What’s wrong, Alexia? Tell us? It’s okay. Tell
us.”
Kieran pulled out the test result from her hand, and from there, he saw that she was not a match to the king. Alexia, his wife, was
not the king’s daughter after all.
“Shhh. It’s fine. It’s fine,” Kieran hushed his wife, and so did Rae.
Kieran thanked the Goddess that no one else was around to witness his wife cry. At least only his trusted people were around to
see her in her delicate state. It took some time, but eventually, Alexia soothed her emotions. When she was wiping the stain on
her face, she revealed, “Even if it meant I would be named a ba stard child, I hoped I was the king’s daughter.”
She shrugged and added, “I know. It’s crazy.”
She looked at Kieran and described. “That would at least explain why my father Roland, treated me like I was not his child.”
Tears welled in her eyes again as she said, “To me, the king treated met better than my own father.”
“I know,” Kieran said. “Shhh... don’t feel too down, please. It’s not good for the baby.”
“Yes, it’s not good for whaaattttt?” Rae asked, leaning back. Her eyes bulged at the revelation. “What did you just say?”
Her voice was so loud, Kieran was sure that Rae had just alerted the king’s guards.
“And when were you planning to tell us?” Rae sought impatiently.
“You are pregnant? Since when?” Rae Reconfirmed, and Alexia nodded.
“I guess the honeymoon worked,” Jaxon teased. “Congratulations, Alpha, Luna. You now have an heir.”
“Sorry, Rae. We wanted to surprise you,” Alexia reasoned.

“Oh, you surprised us, alright!” Rae claimed before announcing, “I’m going to be an aunt!”
“And I’m going to be an uncle!” Jaxon claimed.
“Technically, I’m going to be an uncle hecause I am Alpha Kieran’s cousin,” Seth said, and Kieran could not agree more. They
laughed merrily in the next minutes that followed. At least, with the news of the pregnancy, Alexia’s mood changed from sulking
to being amused at Rae and Jaxon’s reaction.
– Alexia –
Reuniting with Dean and Melissa helped alleviate the feeling of being hurt over the test result. Alexia was somewhat broken
because the truth remained that her father had abandoned her. It would have been better if the king was her father, but it was not
the case.
In the middle of the day, Alexia and her two other best friends lingered in one area behind the packhouse. They called it their
favorite spot. It was often Alexia’s place of solace whenever her stepmother scolded her in the past. She would escape the
packhouse and temporarily find peace in the same spot.
Alexia settled in a vast clearing where several leaves had fallen from the trees. The leaves made a bed for her. It came in various
sizes and shapes.
Dean and Melissa lay next to her, taking each of her sides. They all looked at the tall trees and how, in the middle, there was a
small opening to study the bright sky.
“I miss this,” Dean said. “Just watching nature. Not that I am complaining, Alpha Kieran’s leadership required daily training. Back
here, we are so laid back. There is a big difference in how your father runs the pack.”
“You mean, my father is lazy,” Alexia pointed out, and the three laughed.
“I miss this place too,” Melissa admitted.
Alexia beamed and replied, “After my mother left, I rarely had happy times. Each enjoyable moment, I spent them all with you
guys, in this very spot. Thank you for being my friends and helping me through my difficult times.”
“And because you are my friends, you both will be godparents to our child,” Alexia revealed.
Chapter 38
“Oh, my Goddess!” Melissa exclaimed, covering her mouth as she sat up. “You are pregnant?”
Alexia nodded while maintaining her smile. She acknowledged, “Five weeks in now. I did not have the time to tell you since we
were all busy while the king was recuperating. I figured I’ll surprise you.”
“I am happy for you, Alexia. I am,” Melissa said, hugging her tightly.
Dean, on the other hand, remained lying on the ground. When Alexia turned to her, he said, “I am happy for you too, Alexia.
Don’t get me wrong. I hope that you and the alpha are true mates.”
Alexia smiled at her friend. She replied. “In my heart, I know we are mates. There are only about four months left.”
“Four more months before my wolf awakens and four more months before I find out if Kieran is my true mate. Either way, though,
we agreed to stay together. I certainly hope that fate is on our side.” Alexia described.
Then, with the recollection of Seth. Alexia turned to Melissa, saying, “You, on the other hand, will have your birthday next week!
You will meet your true mate!”
“Oh, please. If my true mate is here in the Cross River Pack,” Melissa sarcastically pointed.
Alexia replied, “Oh, but he might be.”
Melissa glared at Alexia, but her face burned even if she meant to deny it. Melissa said, “I thought you were clueless! I can’t
believe you know!”
“Oh, I am not your luna for no reason. I hear everything, including your regular visitor at the cafe,” Alexia teased. “I pray to the
Moon Goddess. that Seth is your true mate.”
“Please, let’s not talk about true mates since I don’t have one yet. I don’t want to be left out here,” Dean suggested.
“Ah, poor Dean. Don’t worry. We will still be here for you,” Melissa suggested. “You can help care for our kids when I have my
own family and get pregnant.”
“Haha!” Alexia laughed. “I can’t imagine.”
“Funny. I will be a warrior, not a nanny!” Dean claimed.

The three friends continued to chat, banter, and plan the near future for minutes longer. Afterward, they went around town to buy
necessities for the packhouse.
It was only later in the afternoon when Alexia returned. As soon as she entered the packhouse, Beta Ford approached her in the
living room and asked, “The king wishes to speak to you, Luna Alexia.”
