Chapter 77: Plans And Theories Part Four!
Adonis and Kenzi Part Two!
Kenzi and Adonis spent the last three hours wandering the mall, in and out of various stores looking for anything that could possibly fit her,. Something that didn’t look like it swallowed her up. One store, the sales clerk pretty much laughed at her when she said she needed clothes and told her to try Wee Tots on the third. At this point Adonis would settle for just a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. Regret wrecking her clothes? Odin asked. Little bit, you know why I did it! I do, but look at her! Adonis looked at his little mate, she wasn’t having any fun at all. She was fighting to maintain control when what she wanted to do was crack. Every store she left feeling more degected than the last and she would squeeze his hand tighter, hoping it would give her strength to carry on. It also didn’t help that the women flirted with him relentlessly right in front of her and each store carried the chance of him finding his mate. He knew better, but until she did in her eyes that was a very real possibility. She would close her eyes and silently whisper please as her heart beat loudly. When he made no moves, she would exhale a quiet thank you and they would proceed.
“I’m sorry sweetheart!” Adonis pulled her into his arms, this was not how this day was supposed to turn out. “One more store, and I promise I will make up for all of this,” Kenzi nodded her head. They headed further down the mall till they came across a window display that caught his eye. He wasn’t sure the clothes were her style, his mate wasn’t the skull and roses type, but they looked like they actually might stand a chance at fitting her. At this point he’ll take what he can get. How much are you regretting it now? Shut up! That’s the best you could come up with? Fuck you! With Odin howling in his head his mood sank. They would grab some shirts and pants and just get this over with.
“S-sa-sav-age, sav-age?” Kenzi looked at him, one to see if she got the name right and two if he was actually serious about this store.
“I know, but these clothes might actually fit you.” Adonis replied as he led her inside only to stop at the door. “Ok sweetheart, this is a werewolf store, we’ll get what we need and we’ll leave.” Ok, he’s ser-i-us! Kenzi nodded.
“Do you see anything you like?” He asked as he scanned the store, Odin alert to any potential danger. Kenzi looked around, nothing really spoke to her, but she was done with shopping.
“Those look nice” She pointed to a pair of black pants. Adonis nodded but when he pulled them out they both looked at them wide eyed. Yeah, maybe find something that doesn’t have a snake crawling up the leg! He put them back. This store had to have something that would work.
“Ok you look at those racks, I’ll look over here and hopefully we’ll find something,” he said, again she could only nod. Maybe she could find just a simple shirt or two with nothing on it.
Browsing through the rack she found a shirt that didn’t look too bad for her. It was black with the outline of a butterfly laid over top of a skull. Maybe she could pull that off.
“What are you doing? Don’t touch that!” A voice said beside her. Kenzi immediately jerked her hand back placing both behind her back and turned to face the voice that had spoken to her.
“I’m sorry, I didint mean to touch the clothes, I won’t do it again” Her voice was small, rushed and caught in her throat.
“What? No, no, no, darling. These clothes are not for you. You are not a savage. You far are too pure, too innocent, too….oh my word.” The man she was facing widened his eyes when he really took in her features. He looked her up and down over and over again. He was in utter disbelief as she stood before him. Kenzi didn’t understand what was going on, and she started to shrink in on herself, she knew what was coming next.
“Look at you. You’re….you’re….you’re….stay, stay, stay right there and don’t you move. Good human” And the man was gone. Kenzi stood there not knowing what to do, that was not the reaction she was expecting. The man seemed rather excited when he saw her.
“Sweetheart I don’t think….what are you doing? What’s wrong?” Adonis asked his body, instantly tensing when he found her just standing there looking rather confused.
“I don’t know. But the funny man told me not to move.” They could see two men speaking and one was talking heatedly to the other who was excitedly trying to tell him something.
“Would you be quiet and just come with me to see what I found?” The excited one yelled. Adonis moved closer to Kenzi. This didn’t feel threatening but he wasn’t sure. What the hell is going on? Even Odin was confused, on edge but confused. I don’t know! Do we like this? I don’t know!
“See, look what I found,” the one man said to the other. His eyes shot open when he saw Kenzi.
“Look at you!” His mouth was open as he continued to stare at her,
“Right?” The one man smiled smugly, then saw Adonis standing there and couldn’t fight the hard swallow.
“Look at her!” The second man moved closer to her, not seeming to see anyone else. He was entranced with Kenzi.
“I saw her, I didn’t see him though,” the first man tried to motion towards Adonis behind her.
“Look at you!” The second man circled her pushing Adonis out of the way.
“Maybe don’t push that one,” the first man said, shaking his head. He recognized Adonis immediately but his friend was far too focused on Kenzi to notice anything else. The first man was waving his hands, shaking his head, doing everything and anything he could think of that wasn’t yelling devil in the store to get the other man’s attention. It was to no avail, the second man only saw Kenzi.
“What is going on?” Adonis asked. Again the second man pushed Adonis away from her when he stood closer.
“Os….Os….Oswald, stop pushing him,” the first man tried warning the second again. He was cringing and fighting with himself to not run over there and grab the man.
“You….you….you….” Kenzi was cringing with each you that came out of the man named Oswald’s mouth. “Are absolute perfection in a tiny little flawless package”
“What is going on?” Adonis asked again with more anger flaring in his words. What the fuck? Odin didn’t know whether to be angry or not, which was making him angry.
“Desmond, look at her, she’s perfect. Perfectly perfect. Absolutely, perfectly, perfect. She’s breathtakingly, devastatingly, gorgeously, perfectly perfect.”
“I see that Oswald, but did you happen to see who you were pushing?” Desmond asked in a hushed whisper.
“What?” Oswald didn’t even look at Desmond, he was focused solely on Kenzi.
“Look who she’s with” Desmond snapped, he however has not taken his eyes from the very angry growing devil behind her. Oswald finally lifted his eyes from Kenzi only for them to widen when he stared straight into the burning eyes of Adonis.
“Oh dear!” Was all he could say.
“What. Is. Going. On?” Adonis gritted out.
“She’s perfect!” Oswald blurted out. “Perfectly perfect”
“I am well aware of how perfectly perfect she is ….grrrrrr….” Adonis growled, moving Kenzi closer to him.
“Forgive him” Desmond spoke quickly, pulling Oswald away from her. “He forgets his manners half the time. Especially when it comes to someone that looks like this tiny walking picture of perfection. You my darling are definitely not a savage” Desmond said when he turned his attention back to Kenzi.
“He’s a savage” Oswald blurted when he motioned towards Adonis “But my mate is correct, you are not a savage, you’re a pixie”
“A pixie?” Kenzi asked, she was completely confused by what was going on.
“Oh yes my darling, you’re light, and air and sunshine and you won’t find what you’re looking for in here. Come with me I am more than happy to help you.” Oswald gently took her by the arm and led her away from Adonis.
Desmond let out an awkward laugh when he saw the arched eyebrow of Adonis as Oswald took his mate away from him. ….grrrrrr….
“Please don’t kill him. I have grown rather attached” ….grrrrrr…. Adonis released a displeased growl,
“Can he help her?” He asked,
“Yes” Desmond replied, maybe a little too quickly,
“You might want to reign that in” Adonis was trying not to revel in the fear coming off the other wolf, but Odin was sure enjoying it.
“Forgive me. I’m trying not to pee right now” Desmond countered. The last person he thought he would encounter today was The Devil.
“I have that effect on others” Adonis replied,
“Not hard to tell why, you are rather large. Much bigger than I thought you would be.” Desmond told him, nodding. Nope he didn’t think The Devil would be a giant of a man.
“You thought I would be small?” Adonis asked,
“Small no, smaller yes, I just didn’t think you would be bigger than The King. I didn’t think anyone was bigger than The King” Desmond replied, then breathed a small sigh of relief when he saw the smirk on Adonis’s face.
“How do you not crush her?” Desmond blurted, the thought was running through his head the second he saw the two together. “Nevermind, that’s not my business”
“No, it’s not,” Adonis agreed.
