Chapter 17
Alexander's POV
Heavy dark clouds are already forming above. The clear sky is now heavy with rain clouds. Slowly, droplets of water started to pour down as my wolf continues to run fast heading our way to where they had found the rogues hiding place. The ground beneath me is now full of muddy puddles soaking my wolf's paws but nothing can stop us and nothing could slow us down just to get there.
As we traveled our way to the northern area, my mind was also traveling to different thoughts swarming in my brain. So many questions that want to be answered immediately. Upon nearing the dense forest of the mountain, I already sensed where they are. The heavy rain continues to pour down, drenching us more. The atmosphere around the forest became raw, the wind became more chilly. The coldness didn't bother us, for the body of a wolf was warmer than a human body.
We continued to run for about a minute more until we reached the area. Coming out of the forest, a wide range of land welcome me. Upon nearing the mountain dead bodies of both wolves and human bodies covered the ground.
'This is where they had fought the rogues.'
Most of the dead wolves here are rogues.
'It was good to know that it's just a few wolf warriors had died fighting the rogues.'
Before moving on, my wolf stop shortly and howled to the Moon Goddess to pay tribute to the wolf warriors that had bravely risked their lives just to fight these damn rogues!
After that, we continue the path toward the foot of the mountain where I saw Paul coming out of a cave. I shifted immediately and reach Paul in a long stride. The wolf warriors instantly kneeled when they saw me. And Paul was taken aback upon seeing me there unexpectedly.
He bowed down before speaking but before the words come out to him, I asked him straight away.
"Is it true?"
The wolves around me are still on their knees, neither of them didn't dare to stand up. It was just Paul and I were left standing in the middle of the rain. Their heads are kept bowed down. The tension between us all is increasing. No one even dared to speak up, no one dares to make a move. Only their heavy breaths and the sound of the tiny droplets of rain can only be heard around us. I took one more step closer to Paul, eyes never faltering as I wait for his response. Water dripped down both of our faces. His eyes were full of sadness, uncertainty, and anger.
"It's still unclear to me if my suspicion is right. He looks a lot like him. His features, his height even his eyes. But there's one thing I've noticed from his face that doesn't belong to him."
"What is it?" I'm not sure how will I react to what he was telling me. I just feel the need to know this instant if it's him or not.
"He has a straight line scar running from his forehead across his eyes and down to his cheeks. That's the only difference between that rogue and Malka." For Paul, it was like easy to mention his name just like that in a long time. His face was stern and doesn't show any of his emotions. But no matter how hard he kept his emotions and feelings inside him, I still sense what he truly feels. And that made me more frustrated and angry to get this done immediately. To unravel the mystery behind the Alpha of the rogues.
"Still, we need to chase that rogue. We need to hunt him now!" I turn my back on Paul and was about to command them to search for that rogue but Paul stop me from doing so.
"Sorry to interrupt you, Alpha King," Paul said and I turn around to face him again, giving him a questioning look then he carried on "But you need to see first what's inside the cave" Instantly I felt the anguish around me, emanating off of my fellow wolves, even Paul. Their wolves sending waves of agitation and others are making snarls. The stiff breeze rustled the trees as a strong wind enveloped us all, and the rain continued pouring down along with the intensity of emotions of every wolf present with me here. I don't know why they became suddenly angry after Paul tell of about what was inside the cave behind him. I didn't need to turn around for I sensed them they had all stood up.
I close my eyes, gradually the images of them slowly showing off inside me. I saw how hard they had fought the rogues just to rescue the unmated shewolfs, the images unfolding inside my brain replaying the scenes of what had happened here. Many of my warriors had been injured. They had helped each other to get through this war against the rogues just to defend and save the she-wolves.
I fisted my hands at my sides, mad at what the rogues had done.
I don't have to go inside the cave for my mind to roam further and wandered what's inside. I felt the agony and suffering that was swirling inside the cave. A sudden burst of pain strikes my chest. The burst of anger flowed through my body as the flashing of images of the rogues and the poor unmated she-wolves one by one flooded me.
"What have they done? Why?!"
A roar came out of my wolf and the ground beneath us trembled from my rage.
Shewshe-wolves lying nakedly dead inside some of the cells in the disgusting cave. They had been in deep suffering, tortured, and in pain when they had died. I can still hear their cries and their heartwrenching screams of agony piercing my soul.
'You didn't all deserve to die like this. You didn't all deserve to be treated like this. No one deserved this kind of bullshit!'
I howled and roared. Roaring above the heavens! My outrage made the rain even stronger. Thunders and lightning painted the dark sky. The wolves around howled with me to the Moon Goddess. They wail all their anger, sadness, and grief at the loss of our she-wolves.
I prayed silently for these poor she-wolves. May their souls be in peace. May the souls of their wolves go home to our Moon Goddess.
But my mind didn't stop there, it ramble more deep inside the cave. There was a long dark passageway that ends with a small wooden door. My eyes traveled inside behind the closed door. Instantly my wolf quivers from different emotions. Even I felt suddenly shaken. The intensity of the intoxicating scent filled my nose.
'I had never smelled this kind of scent.'
It was a strange one. I couldn't exactly say what kind of scent it is. It's like I can smell the scent of the Moon Goddess. The scent of the moon. The warmth feeling of it flowing slowly inside you, making jolts of electricity traveling on your nerves. Intoxicating you, pulling you towards it. The aroma of it filled my nostrils.
'This scent is like a drug! Damn it! What is this?'
It was the most amazing and sweetest scent I had ever smelled. It sends my wolf driving crazy.
'Stop yourself, wolf. We need to focus.'
I inhaled deeply and go further inside the room.
I saw a small bed. Drenching in blood. Below the bed was a whip.
'What may have happened here, I am sure it was ruthless. It was unforgivable.'
But why? Why does he have to do this?
There's only one thing to find out who's behind all of these sadistic and merciless doings?
And if I heard it right that he had a she-wolf with him and if this scent belongs to that she-wolf then I need to find that rogue and save the she-wolf.
I gather all the griefs and agonies of the poor she wolfs that had died inside the cave and take it all inside me.
'I will take revenge for all that's been done to you. I will assure you of all this. I will give justice to your deaths.'
A piercing roar resonates the whole place. Shifting to my wolf, I lead my wolf warriors to hunt down the Alpha of the rogues.
