Team Darkoss: Rise of a Dark Lord

Chapter 6: Desend Into Darkness

Slayer and Gallahon had no choice but to team up to fight Morpheus. Morpheus’s sword was a strange weapon. The cross guard of the sword were made of demon horns and the blade was not just made of steel and iron, but also holds the manifestation of people’s dreams. It has tasted the blood of mortals who fell onto their own nightmares. Being the god of dreams, Morpheus can manipulate people’s dreams, and mess with their heads. Make them see things that are not even there. Gallahon had jumped aside as Slayer blocked Morpheus’s chop. Gallahon attacked Morpheus but the dream god caught Gallahon’s blade in his bare hands like it was nothing. Gallahon was astonished. Morpheus opened his palm and flung Gallahon back.

Gallahon’s feet scraped the ground beneath him. He turned back to Slayer and attacked him. Slayer went in to slash him, but the dream god had disappeared, vanished right before Slayer’s eyes. Morpheus re-appeared behind Gallahon. Slayer turned and warned Gallahon of his position. But Gallahon knew and stabbed Morpheus, leaving his sword imbedded in him. Morpheus looked at Gallahon’s sword then back at him. Morpheus raise his hand in front of himself and pushed Gallahon back with such force. Gallahon and Slayer just stood there astonished.

“You foolish mortals.” Morpheus said to them as the dream god walked towards them. He then pulled out Gallahon’s sword from his stomach and threw it aside. “What part of ’I am a god’ don’t you understand? This is my realm, my domain. As long as I am here I cannot be killed. I can look into your dreams and make them reality. Turning your dreams into living nightmares, twisting your world. I’ve already looked into your dreams Slayer. Let’s take a look inside yours Gallahon.” Morpheus came up to Gallahon with inhumanly speed. Morpheus placed his hand on Gallahon’s head and Morpheus could see into Gallahon’s mind.

Deep into the dreams of Gallahon, during the great war of Windfall, Gallahon dreamt of that faithful day, he fought with King Erloc. Through his father’s eyes, he could see the fight between the two general’s. Although Gallahon had no memory of his father, he somehow dreams of his father’s days as general to King Psygon’s army.

He was haunted by the dreams of his parent’s deaths. First his father, and then his mother years later. As he dreamt of King Erloc impaling his father with Gallahon’s own sword, Gallahon’s face appeared onto King Erloc. He looked down onto his sword imbedded into his father, straight thought his chain mail.

“NO!” He yelled out. As his father fell to his knees, he looked up at his son’s face.

“You’ve killed me.” he said, spitting out blood. “This is your fault.” As General Darkoss’s body lied there, floating upon the ground, Gallahon looked at his father’s corpse. General Darkoss’s blood flowed smoothly on the ground as the blood covered Gallahon’s feet. He sank into his father’s blood. Gallahon tried to get out, but the blood acted as if it was quicksand. General Darkoss’s blood ended up upon the ceiling of the house where Gallahon and Nina were raised. Gallahon fell from the blood on the ceiling and onto the wooden floors of his house.

Gallahon looked around and his house was trashed. He heard his mother screaming. Gallahon ran towards the scream. Gallahon ran for what seemed like miles. As he descended deep into darkness, a trail of blood led the way. It was pitch black all around him, he could not see where he was going. The only guide he had was the trail of blood. The screams were getting louder. He was close. He saw a light in the darkness and knew he was going the right way. Gallahon kicked the wooden door open and saw his mother lying dead. The murderer of his mother was there. The murderer appeared to be wearing a black cape with purple trimming.

The murderer turned to face Gallahon. Slayer could see Gallahon through that strange mask. With his blood shot eyes, he starred at Gallahon as Slayer turned towards him.

“Why?” Gallahon asked. “Why did you do this?”

“I had to. Her time was up.” Slayer suddenly sprouted out large black wings from his back.

“You are not Slayer!” The figure with the black wings morphed into a new shape. It did not look like Slayer anymore, but it looked like Gallahon. A dark reflection of Gallahon. Black armor with red. White skin, red eyes and pitch black hair. It came up to Gallahon and wrapped its wings around him. It teleported Gallahon to a sight that Gallahon’s eyes could not bear to see. The town of Windfall up in flames.

“No. I got to get out of here.” Gallahon said. Psygon Castle was all but in ruins. The dream that haunted him back at the tavern haunted him again. He walked into the castle bodies were everywhere, burnt up. King Psygon was speared to the wall behind his throne.

“What monster could have done this?” Gallahon was horrified. Than a shadow of a man came up behind Gallahon. Gallahon turned. He could not see his face. As if his whole body was covered in shadow. All Gallahon could see was glowing red eyes. Gallahon readied his sword and shield. He rushed towards the shadow but the figure caught Gallahon’s sword with just two fingers. The figure pushed Gallahon back. Gallahon was astonished. The shadow then somehow morphed itself. It turned into a bigger shape that looked like it had wings and was at least ten times taller and bigger than Gallahon. Gallahon was shocked at the sight of this thing. It grabbed Gallahon in its massive hand. Gallahon struggled to get free. The things grip grew tighter around Gallahon. It looked at Gallahon with those glimming red eyes as it began to squeeze the life out of Gallahon. As Gallahon could feel his innards being crushed and was slowly dying a painful death, the thing let out a very loud roar as Gallahon died.

“No, not again.” Gallahon’s eyes opened wide as he struggled harder to free himself. Gallahon managed to open the monster’s hand. Gallahon jumped towards the monster’s face from its hand and slashed the beast’s face.

Morpheus felt the cut on his face. Gallahon managed somehow to escape Morpheus’s dream spell and back in the nightmare realm. Morpheus now had a pretty scar on his face. As he wiped the blood off of his face, he looked towards Gallahon.

“You mortal fool! No mortal has ever escaped the dream spell.” Morpheus was angered. The dream god could feel the cut on his face when Gallahon slashed his face in his dream. Slayer sought the opportunity to creep up behind Morpheus. Slayer impaled his sword into Morpheus’s back. As Slayer’s sword was imbedded into his back, Morpheus grabbed Slayer’s arm from behind him and threw Slayer over his shoulder. Slayer landed on his feet and slide to where Gallahon was. Morpheus rushed over to them and grabbed their heads, casting his dream spell upon them.

Slayer and Gallahon were upon a cliff during a rain storm.

“What now?” asked Slayer. The ground beneath them shook as Morpheus rose up before them, bigger than he was before with large black wings that sprouted out of his back.

“Now we fight.” replied Gallahon. “We can hurt him in our dreams.”

“Fools! I am at my full potential here! You cannot defeat a god!” he said as he pounded his massive fist into the ground. Gallahon and Slayer avoided from being crushed. Gallahon ran up Morpheus’s arm with his sword cutting his arm along the way. Morpheus tried to flick Gallahon off as if he was a fly. As the dream god had his hand opened, Gallahon used his sword to cling onto Morpheus’s palm. Gallahon was now hanging onto his sword for his life as he hung under Morpheus’s palm. The dream god took his other hand to grab Gallahon, but Gallahon took his shield and jabbed the horns into Morpheus’s other palm.

Morpheus was feeling the pain but ignored it. As Morpheus put his hand down, Slayer yanked Gallahon’s shield out of his palm and jabbed his sword into the dream god’s hand. Slayer held onto dear life as Morpheus lifted up his arm. Morpheus tried to shake Slayer off. Slayer jumped down to the ground, taking his sword with him. As soon as Morpheus’s arms were close to each other, Gallahon took his sword out of Morpheus’s palm as he was jumping to the dream god’s other arm. Gallahon continued running up the dream god’s arm.

Gallahon made it to Morpheus’s shoulder. As Gallahon jabbed his sword into Morpheus’s neck, the dream god tried to smack Gallahon as if he was a mosquito. But as Morpheus’s hand came in, Gallahon went to the back of the dream god’s neck.

“Oh, you think you’re so clever.” said Morpheus. As Morpheus flew up, Gallahon saw one of Slayer’s swords still in his back. As Gallahon went for the sword, Morpheus flew onward. Gallahon grabbed Slayer’s sword, but Morpheus turned upside down in flight. Gallahon held onto dear life as he could not see the ground below him.

“Let go and fall to your death Gallahon!” But Gallahon just kept hanging onto the sword. Morpheus crashed through a cliff to try and make Gallahon fall. But then he realized something. This fight was taking place all inside a dream. Gallahon could use this to his advantage. He let go of the sword and fell. Morpheus stopped in flight to see Gallahon fall.

“Foolish Mortal.” But something Morpheus did not expect. Gallahon somehow ended up on the dream god’s head. Gallahon took Slayer’s sword and jabbed him in the eye.

“AHH, MY EYE!” Morpheus screamed out. Morpheus flew back to the battle ground where Slayer was waiting. As Gallahon forced Morpheus to fly low, Slayer cut through the dream god’s stomach, causing Morpheus to crash land. Gallahon jumped off with the swords as soon as Morpheus landed. As Morpheus got up and faced them, he stood forty feet tall as Gallahon took his sword and threw it up towards the dream god as if it was a dart. Slayer used his mind to give Gallahon’s sword enough power to pierce through the dream god’s armor. Gallahon’s sword pierced Morpheus’s armor.

“AHHHH!” Morpheus yelled out as he shrank back to Gallahon and Slayer’s size.

“You’re getting weak Morpheus.” Gallahon said. Gallahon threw Slayer his sword, as Gallahon unsheathed his sword. Slayer took his swords and combined them, making his swords into one clever weapon. Slayer walked up to Morpheus with his double edged weapon. Morpheus got up and summoned his sword into his hand, the dream blade he called it. Morpheus attacked, but Slayer blocked. Slayer attacked with his weapon, twirling it around while slicing the dream god with its sharpened blades.

The dream god tried hard to block every blow but Slayer just kept finding a new opening. Slayer kicked him back into a cliff. The dream god just sat there, all blooded and one eye opened.

“You think this is the end of me?” he said as he spat out blood. “No matter how hard you try; you cannot kill a god.” Slayer had one more idea of how to shut him up. Slayer took Morpheus’s idea and grew forty feet tall. He punched the dream god as many times as he could into the ground. Morpheus smiled. The dream god was weakening. Slayer stomped on him for the final blow. Slayer shank back down to normal size as the dream spell had come to an end.

Gallahon, Slayer and even Morpheus were back in the nightmare realm. Morpheus, still alive slowly got up. He placed his hand on his arm as he was all blooded up and one eye closed.

“This is not the end of me.” he said. “You only managed to cripple me. I told you, you cannot kill a god.” Gallahon walked up to the dream god. “I cannot fight anymore. I was merely testing your strength Gallahon.”

“What do you mean?” Morpheus told Gallahon what he was up to.

“You think that dream you had back at the tavern was just a coincidence? It was a warning Gallahon. A warning of what is to come if you do not find the six crusaders. I was merely testing your strength.”

“How do you know we’re seeking the six crusaders?” Gallahon asked, confused.

“I looked into your mind Gallahon, I know what you seek. You were ordered by your king to seek out the six. I can help you by telling you where they are but that is about all I can do.”

“Where can I find them, tell me!” Gallahon commanded. Morpheus used the last of his power to enter the mind of Creed Bladestorm, the leader of the six. The dream god spoke.

“Creed and the six are held captive in the temple of the sea dragon. The temple is located out on the ocean. Now if you don’t mind, I must go regain my power. I can only regain power through dreams. I cannot help you get out of this realm, you’re on your own.” The dream god had vanished.

“I’m surprised Slayer; you did not try to attack me while my back was turned. You had the perfect opportunity to do so.”

“Well first of all, I believe in a fair fight. And second, you’re not the only one who must seek a way out. If I’m going to get out of this god forsaken realm, you are my only option to find it.” Slayer followed Gallahon to try a way out of the nightmare realm. They’ve walked for what seemed like miles. Gallahon looked up at the red sky and noticed that there was no sun.

“How is this plain so hot if there’s no sun?” he asked and Slayer replied.

“It must be the blood. Blood is warm and there’s a lot of it. It’s the blood that keeps this realm warm.” That answered Gallahon’s question.

Back at Lake Island, Aquanna, Trenton and Nina finally got out of the temple of the dead. Aquanna couldn’t help but wonder what ever happened to Gallahon.

“I hope he turns up soon.” said she. Trenton came up and placed his hand on her shoulder.

“I am sure he’ll find a way out of that cursed realm.” After defeating the Necromancer, it told them where it teleported Gallahon to. “He’ll be alright.”

“Yeah.” said Nina. “My brother always finds a way out of sticky situations, don’t worry.” They’ve made it back to the City of Lake Island. They walked up the steps to the palace. It felt weird to them not being greeted by the queen. Trenton and Nina escorted Aquanna to the throne. She sat in the chair.

“Mother.” She sobbed as she closed her eyes. One of the Lake Island guards walked up to her at request.

“Mi. lady.” said the guard.

“Send word to my sister. Tell her mother wishes for her to take up her throne. And tell her that I will remain here until she gets here.” The guard bowed.

“As you wish mi lady.” Trenton and Nina looked at Aquanna.

“You sure you’re going to be okay?” Nina asked.

“We can stay here with you if you like.” Trenton had said.

“No, I’m sure I will be fine. I’ll meet you two back on Windfall as soon as my sister gets here.” The two bowed and walked out of the palace. Aquanna watched as they left.

Back in the nightmare realm, Gallahon and Slayer still could not find a way out.

“This plain goes on forever.” said Gallahon. Gallahon kept seeing nothing but dead trees, cliffs and ponds of blood. Gallahon looked ahead and saw the head he saw before. The head, popping up from the blood pond with no eyes, starring right back at him. Then Gallahon realized something.

“No wonder we can’t find a way out. We’re going around in circles.” But then, something even more bizarre happened. The head opened its mouth and spoke. It spoke in the creepiest voice Gallahon had ever heard.

“You wish to leave this realm? Then so be it. If you can beat me, then you may use my pool to teleport back to your realm.”

“Beat you?” asked Gallahon. “HA! I’ll make a nice skull helmet out of you.” insulted Gallahon.

“Insolent human!” The head rose its neck, but it wasn’t that head that was talking. For there was a second head, much bigger and torn up. It had arms attached by fins on each side of its head. The smaller head was just there to attract prey. Its body was large and tall like a serpent. Its arms didn’t have hands on it, but massive crab like claws. Gallahon looked up at the creature and was in awe.

“I think you should apologize Gallahon.” said Slayer.

“I think you need to shut up and help me kill this thing.” The creature threw down its massive claw towards Gallahon as Gallahon took his sword and slashed its claw. The creature raises its claw as if in pain. Slayer ran towards it. Slayer slashed its claw as it came towards him but knocked Slayer aside with its other claw. Gallahon ran but the monster caught Gallahon in its claw. Slayer uncombined his swords and ran up one of the dead trees. As the creature held Gallahon up to its face, Slayer jumped off one of its branches and cut the creatures arm. The creature let go and dropped Gallahon. Gallahon landed on his feet as Slayer did.

“You saved me.” Gallahon said.

“No monster is going to take away my prize.” said Slayer as he recombined his swords. As the creature was busy with Slayer, Gallahon ran up a tree and jumped off the branch. He landed onto the creature’s shoulder as Gallahon sliced off its arms on the monster’s head. The creature screamed in pain as if the arms on its hand were attached to its head. It grabbed Gallahon and threw him down. As its arm was down, Slayer cut its arm. The creature yelled out again. Gallahon ran up another tree to repeat the process. Gallahon jumped off the branch, but the creature whacked Gallahon and Gallahon crashed into a cliff and landed on the ground. As the creature was about to finish Gallahon, Slayer thought quickly.

He took one of the blood vines and threw it up at the creature. It lassoed around one of its remaining arms on its head and Slayer pulled, causing the monster to fall back. The creature turned and landed on the ground. Slayer then tied the other end of the vine to one of the trees. Gallahon got up and ran up the monsters back. As Slayer was slicing and dicing the creature’s face, Gallahon starred at its other head.

“I’m going to make a nice skull helmet out of you.” As Slayer jabbed his sword into the monster’s nose hole, Gallahon chopped off its other head. The creature broke the vine as it rose up. Gallahon used his sword to slide safely down the monster’s back. Gallahon took his sword as he jumped off and the monster laid there dead. But their celebration was short lived.

“Now that the monster is dealt with and we know where the portal is, you’re not going through that portal. Only one of us is going to leave this realm alive.” Slayer attacked Gallahon. Slayer struck Gallahon with every blow possible, but Gallahon kept blocking Slayer’s strikes. Gallahon tried to reason with him.

“Slayer, stop this madness! You don’t have to keep doing this!”

“All these years Gallahon, you sparred my life. That was a mistake. ”

“I keep sparring your life because I know that there is good left in you! This is not what Marlien would have wanted from you!” Slayer’s eyes widened.

“How do you know of Marlien!?” Slayer tried harder to break Gallahon’s defenses but Gallahon was too good of a swordsman. Slayer sweep kicked Gallahon. As Gallahon fell to the ground, Slayer went in for the kill. But Gallahon used his sword to cause Slayer’s sword to miss. Gallahon put his feet onto Slayer and kicked Slayer to the other side. As Gallahon got up, he went over to Slayer and bashed him with his shield, knocking Slayer down. Gallahon ran for the portal, but Slayer got up quickly and lassoed Gallahon with one of the blood vines.

“You are not going through that portal!” Gallahon got his arm freed and grabbed the vine. Gallahon pulled out his sword and cut the vine. As Slayer fell back, Gallahon jumped through the portal, leaving Slayer in the realm for now.
