Taken by my mate

Chapter Chapter sixteen

Covyn

My study was a bedroom sized room attached to the library, with a large wood desk in the middle and bookshelves lining two of the walls. Evadiene went immediately to the shelves and started rubbing her fingers over the spines, touching them all like she could read them this way.

Selecting three books she moved to a corner chair and popped down.

“Glad you’re settling in,” I laughed, rubbing her knee as I walked by.

“Would you rather I read over your shoulder?” She asked skeptically. “I can glean enough from over here to not also be distracting.”

She giggled to say that she was mostly kidding, and I hadn’t thought much about it. An hour later my pen was missing and I began lifting and moving things around on my desk looking for it. Evadiene moved from her spot quietly, resting the book in her chair, and picked up my pen from where it must have rolled under my chair.

“Thank you.” I kissed her cheek and she looked over my organized mess.

“What else is missing, now that I’m up.”

Not sure how she had picked up such a specific emotion through our bond so early, I still replied. “It was just a book. I must have left my office unlocked at some point, so those on library duty thought the books were ready to be put away.”

“Describe it to me,” she sounded curious, but also like she was asking for instructions.

“It is small-“ I held my fingers squares to size, “- like this big. Gold lettering read ‘Battle of the Valley on the cover, and it was bound in black leather.”

She nodded considerately. “Ok. I’ll find it,”

I chuckled, “it’s alright, I’ll have whoever is working here find it later.”

Evadiene shook her head. “I could stand to stretch my legs anyway, I’ll just take a wander through.”

She went through the back doors directly to the library and I vowed to give her five minutes before going after her to make sure she wasn’t lost.

I returned to my work, getting lost in reading. My pack was one of the strongest warrior packs in the region, and because of that a lot of other packs would pay to send their members to us to learn and train.

To keep ourselves strong we always had to be studying other techniques, and while we trained other pack’s members we kept detailed notes on their fighting styles and any facts they divulged. Letting them onto our grounds, learning the lay of our land and fighting with us could put us at a disadvantage later, but our strong wards and regular tactical meetings kept us on top.

I had just begun my report for our next meeting when Evadiene returned to place three books on my desk. I was sure it was because she forgot what it was called, or couldn’t find it, but the book on top was the one I had described and I lifted it from the stack curiously.

“I think those will help,” she said slightly before returning to her spot.

I didn’t let her see me rolling my mental eyes. We hadn’t even spoken about what we did here, and I hadn’t told her why I needed this book.

“Thanks beautiful,” I replied instead, opening the book I had requested and copying down the information I needed.

She had sped through her first two books before asking for a stack of sticky notes, and flagging the pages more than some overrated amusement park, when Spencer came to the door.

I could tell it was him from the knock and when I called for him to come in he marched right over. He looked ready to yell at me but looked at my shoulder and a short smiled turned up his lips.

“This you?” Spencer asked, pointing at at but looking at Evadiene.

“It fucking better be!” She snapped but covered her mouth at her possessive outburst.

My own smile grew as I turned to her. “What did you do?”

A blush was spreading behind her hands over her face but Spencer wasn’t about to wait for her to answer. “Do you mean the hickies or the bruise?”

“Did you bite that hard?” I asked thoughtfully, not realizing she had put so much force into it but now wishing I could see it for myself.

“Spencer!” She gaped.

I moved towards her, moving in to nuzzle my face against hers through her hands. “Trying to say something love?”

She snuck around me to get up. “I’m going to go to the bathroom, I’ll be right back.”

“Don’t forget the ‘come back’ part,” Spencer called after her and she waved a middle finger at him.

Spencer turned back to me now that she was gone and glared. “So she bites and you hit? I doubt that split in her cheek is a kink thing.”

“That’s none of your business Beta, it is between me and your Luna,” I husked, returning to my desk and considering just how okay I would be with it if she was a biter.

A moment later there was another knock at my door and, when I told them to enter, Evadiene was giggling between two of my guards. Anger burst from me to see their hands on her and that only made her giggle more.

“I told you,” she sing-songed and they let her go immediately.

“Our apologies Alpha. We didn’t know,” Pan stammered.

Tom was nodding despite both of them being on one knee and bowing their heads. “She was wandering through one of the back halls, and doesn’t smell like you.”

Pan nodded as well. “More like the shooting range and.. cat?”

“And yet you still dragged her here? An obvious human in the middle of the pack lands, after she said told you she was my mate?” I rumbled, bringing her into my chest when she stilled.

“… I, maybe, didn’t use that word.” I looked down at her and she was blushing. “I may have said you were seeing me…”

She gnawed on her lip and I shooed the guards out, for which they seemed very grateful. Spencer followed them out but he already knew more than he should.

I could tell she was worried I would be mad, which had the opposite effect and calmed me down. She was still in my sweat pants and tshirt, my mark not clearly visible and I brushed over it with my teeth.

“Why didn’t you just show them my mark on you,” I breathed into her ear.

I felt the immediate reaction her body gave to the sound of my voice like this and the proximity to that sensitive skin.

“I didn’t think of it,” she admitted. “I knew I had gone the wrong way from the bathroom and panicked when someone called me on it.”

“What were you doing down by the weapons rooms?” I asked instead, tugging the collar aside with my teeth to brush my lips over the mark softly.

She shrugged and unintentionally pushed her skin against my mouth. “Exploring.”

This time when she said it I believed her. I could feel that she had no reason, no reason to need a weapon when I would be enough to protect her. The thought brought a strange smile to my face and I kissed her shoulder multiple times.

She moaned languidly and the sound tickled my lips but as her head fell to the side I caught her looking at my desk. “Don’t trust my book recommendations?”

I had to stifle the groan. I had hoped she would just forget about them, but I had moved them physically to the side while she was gone without thinking.

I tried to return to her neck. “I only needed the one right now. I’ll look at them later.”

“Lier,” she giggled. “It’s ok, you’ll see.”

I ignored her comment and returned to sucking on her neck, making her putty in my hands. It shouldn’t have been this bad from our short time apart and I wondered if it had something to do with our boarder reacting to her on her own.

“Covyn you need to stop,” she moaned

I chuckled, “I can smell that you don’t want me to.”

“And so will everyone else at dinner, since I kind of couldn’t find any underwear at my apartment…” she seemed to trail off as she realized that she had revealed two very different things to me that elicit two very different emotions.

“They ruined all your panties?” I demanded and she nodded. “And you’re really not wearing any?” She bit her lip, a smirk dancing at the edge of her mouth, as she shook her head.

I could almost see the wheels turning in her head.

“What are you thinking?” I asked softly and her eyes flicked back to me.

“I was debating being cruel, but I wasn’t sure how you would react.” She blurted it out so suddenly I would have believed I had compelled the answer from her if I didn’t know that wasn’t possible.

“You were going to be cruel to me?” I questioned her with a laugh and she knew I believed she was incapable of hurting me. “Oh yea? And how’s that?”

She didn’t like the challenge in my words, daring her to try it. Thinking back to when she had said I was mean and she ran her hand up to my package, that could now only get hard for her, I waited for her to try it again.

Instead, her daring, piercing eyes met and held mine as she took my hand in hers. I was lost in their green depths for a moment, until I felt my fingers running against soft skin and feeling wet.

I looked down to find she had directed my hand into the front of her pants and the side of my fingers now grazed the wet lips of her pussy. I had never heard myself make the next sound that I did; low and gravely, full of want and need.

I moved my hand to her hip, spinning her to press her back against my chest and give me better access to her. She gasped as I did, and I slipped two fingers down between her lips.

“You want me almost as much as I want you,” I breathed into her ear and her breathing hitched as I neared her clit.

There was a knock at the door but I ignored it. Another knock and I was growling in frustration, sucking on her neck instead.

“Put your clothes back on, it’s time for dinner,” Ellion called through the door.

Evadiene giggled, pulling my hand carefully out so I didn’t leave a trail of her up her stomach.

“Hungry?” She asked seductively, turning around and backing away from me.

I looked down at my hand that had been a place I hadn’t yet seen. It glistened in my office lighting and smelt decadent. I brought my fingers to my face, smelling and tasting her on them, knowing my wolf was pushing to show itself.

“Starving,” I breathed and I watched a shiver run up her spine.

She moved to open the door but I was beside her in a second. “You can’t go out there like this!”

She looked at me, body of a seductress and eyes of defiance. “Like what?”

I removed her hand from the door knob carefully. “Smelling like this,” I reiterated.

“With how often you ‘tend to my neck’, I don’t see how it’s different from how I smell any other time. Besides I haven’t eaten since breakfast, I’m so hungry I don’t even care that I have to awkwardly be the smallest being in some dining hall full of buff warrior people.” She rolled her eyes and her stomach seemed to growl just from the thought.

I grabbed her around the waist and lifted her into my arms. Before I could kiss her neck she bit mine and giggled again.

“What is it?” She asked, apparently getting a feel for the bond and knowing I had deeper thoughts than just wanting a hug.

“If we are walking into the dining hall with you smelling of arousal, you are doing it in my arms also smelling of me.”
