Taken by my mate

Chapter Chapter six

Most of the people were already gone or pushing their way through the doors. All except the couple of girls that were stuffing their money in bags, because they knew we wouldn’t be back in here for at least a week.

I sighed deeply, waving over Covyn’s shoulder. “Bye fat stacks, if Lila doesn’t steal you SweetCake will.”

We were outside in the cold night air now and I heard Covyn chuckle, “I will give you the money you lost.”

“Psha,” I scoffed, dusting invisible dirt off his shoulder. “I really don’t need it, just makes me feel good to count, like a numerical value for the number of eyes on me.” I could see Covyn’s friend staring at me and propped my face on my elbow over Covyn’s shoulder to tease him. “It’s the voyeur in me, gets me off.”

The friend blushed beat red and looked away from me. It was then that I realized he had other friends walking with us because they started laughing and I smirked at them.

“So… you going to put me down?” I asked Covyn, gently knocking on his head.

“Nope,” he replied, popping the ‘p’.

I released my legs from around him so my feet knocked against his thighs annoyingly while he walked. He grabbed my sides and tossed me over his shoulder.

I sighed. “I needed my bag from inside.”

“I’ll get you a new bag,” he replied shortly.

I chuckled. “while I’ve always want a sugar daddy… it’s more its contents that I need…”

“I’ll get you anything you need.” His flat tone was starting to make me nervous.

Despite sparks still flying through every area of my skin he touched I realized that we were still walking away. A shiver crept up my spine and I was made aware that I was ass out in what could barely pass for a swim suit.

I looked around at his friends again and they were all staring at me so I presented my hand over the shoulder. “They call me Nova.”

There was absolute silence.

“Like Novocain, except I can’t. - well Nova this side of the water-“ I gestured to where we stood, “- and Evadiene that side of the water-“ I gestured toward where I live.

I kicked my legs up, tapping Covyn’s arm with my heals where he held me up. “Which must be where Covyn’s cops followed me from when he put a flag on my license plate.” I sneered the last bit, and looked over my shoulder at him to see him cringe slightly.

“I already told your buddies, I know every cop on this side of the water. Put-me-down,” I demanded, making my tone as harsh as I could with his hand working the back of my thigh distractingly.

“I’m afraid I can’t do that,” he muttered.

“Can’t or won’t?” I challenged.

“Both,” he growled, and I heard a car *beep beep* as it was started.

I looked behind me to see where we were and saw the same truck that was tailing me earlier. Panic surged through me and I started flailing against him.

“Fuck nope. Put me right down before I start screaming.” He didn’t even seem to care as I hit him in the back of the head. “I’m serious Covyn, I won’t even report you for stalking me, but I will not get choked out at work by a mob boss and then kidnapped by my hero.”

He froze and looked over his shoulder at me for the first time. “I can’t kidnap what is mine, Evadiene, you belong to me. You are my mate.”

I saw his friends hit themselves in the forehead, and I knew instantly that he had at least somewhat misspoke.

“Covyn…?” I asked suspiciously, praying that this absolutely delicious man would back pedal real quick and correct what he said.

As he continued to just stand there, and we both could only see each other from the corner of our eyes, the heat started to build again in my face.

“You realize for someone apparently so possessive you are showing off an awful lot of my assets by not letting me walk,” I pointed out and he seemed to huff in frustration under me.

“They wouldn’t dare look at you with me,” he snarled but he slowly put me down anyway.

I took an immediate step back. “See? Not so bad.”

One side of his lip twitched up at me, and his friends eyed me carefully. I couldn’t help but wonder if this was normal behaviour for him, and then the thought caused me physical pain and I winced.

“Are you alright?” His face instantly softened and he stepped towards me, lifting my arms and spinning me in front of him like he was checking me for injuries. “I didn’t hurt you did I? Is it your throat? Is it bothering you?”

The concern in his face was so deep that it broke my heart. I wanted to jump into his arms and assure him that I was fine, but I fought that urge tooth and nail. I was still staring into his eyes, absorbing the idea that anyone could feel such unyielding worry, when they moved to his lips.

That was a big mistake. I was watching him lick his lips nervously, not realizing that I had barely been paying attention to whatever he had asked.

“What?” I stammered.

He smirked and held my face in his hands, petting my hair, and then leaned in to kiss my forehead. His hand moved to mine and he started towing me along quickly.

Before I knew it we were at his truck and he was pushing me up against the side, the hand he held stretched above my head and he leaned in to devour my lips with his. I gasped at the sudden affection and he groaned more aggressively, grabbing my other hand to join the first above my head.

My ears were ringing with the blood flooding my face, and I found myself squeezing my legs together as the kisses trailed my jaw. I couldn’t help the whimpering sounds I made as he touched me, everything he did was just fantastic and I wanted more.

Someone cleared their throat and Covyn growled loudly as he pulled away from me. Both of our heads rolled to the side and where I saw the energy and aggression in Covyn’s face, I knew I must look drunk. A light fluttering sensation lit in my chest, and it rose up and down from against the car unabashedly.

I saw one of his friends tap a pack of smokes against his hand and hold it out towards Covyn, who looked at it, looked at me still heaving with pure lust, and then back to the smoke with a growl.

“You’ll be the death of me Evadiene,” he groaned, taking the smoke and lighter as he released me.

I adjusted my stance, crossing my arms under my chest. “But what a hell of a way to die,” I smirked, watching his face as the flame lit up his dangerous features.

I saw the hint of a smirk as he took a drag and released it into the air. I should be absolutely terrified, standing beside a strange man’s truck, that I knew had been stalking me, but I wasn’t. I felt snarky, and sarcastic, something I only felt around people I was comfortable with or who were trustworthy.

So I would give him a chance.

I held my fingers out towards him after he took another long drag and his eye brows quirked. “You smoke?”

He handed it to me regardless and I took it into my lungs. “I use to. I smoked a solid two a day for nearly a year. Now I only smoke when I’m under extraneous stress… or when I’m drunk,” I admitted, handing it back to him.

I looked over at his friends again who were still just gawking at me. I giggled and looked them just as blatantly, all the way up and all the way down. I changed my stance, spreading my feet slightly apart, and popping a hand on my hip.

“Yes?” I asked, a smirk etched itself firmly in my face and I knew this conversation would be great.

As Covyn handed me the smoke back he opened the back door on his truck and pulled out a suit jacket to rest over my shoulders. My hand met his on my shoulder and I looked up to meet his gaze, placing a light, natural kiss on his lips. He move back beside me with his hand around my waist and leant down to inhale the scent of my hair deeply.

“So… a stripper?” One of the other men asked and Covyn growled a warning, and I could feel his nose move against my head like he had shot him the side eye.

“You’ll have to be more specific if that question was for me,” I declared. “Also, if you plan to talk to me I’d appreciate names. Otherwise I’m just going to call you dumb, dumber, and damn fine. I think you all know who is who,” I added, winking at the woman who blushed and then the guy beside her growled at me.

Covyn growled back and I laughed. “So you two then, there’s a question I didn’t ask answered. Step in the right direction anyway, now can we work on maybe my top five?”

“A stripper?” The one who hadn’t growled at me said again.

I clicked my tongue, “awe, I’ve changed my mind. You can be dumber.”

Covyn groaned but it didn’t seem directed at me. “That’s Spencer, Ellion, and Daley; my betas and Ellion’s mate.”

My mind startled at the word, this could not be happening, but I took my turn with the smoke to cover my distress and handed it back. Nodding my head as I let the smoke go I looked over the people in front of me again with this new information.

“So Alpha and Betas, so I’m hoping you’re in some form of military service…-“ Covyn was nibbling on my neck again making a breath catch.

I felt like my eyes had rolled completely up and my legs felt weak. Whatever thought I had been about to voice was completely gone and the only thought that remained was how his tongue and teeth felt as he licked and sucked on my skin there.

“Mr. Durem, that is quite mean,” Daley said, breaking my trance only slightly as his hand snaked around to my stomach and pulled me closer against his chest.

He bit harder after her comment and I voiced the pain it caused out loud. He muttered a small apology before returning to licking the area.

“Covyn,” I gasped, my body consumed with slight tremors. “She’s right, this is really mean. You can stop yourself or I’m going to be mean too.”

He chuckled against my skin, the rumble sending stronger tingles through my body. “Oh really?” He challenged, and I picked up the glove immediately.

Leaning back against him I then spun around in his arms and backed him against the truck, running my hand up his inner thigh until I found his hard cock and stroked it gently through his slacks. “If you want to lose, keep poking me Covyn,” I purred.

He coughed uncomfortably, after nearly losing his eyes to the inside of his skull when the clearly desired sensation of me touching him took affect.

Dumber, I mean Spenser made a sound when his lips parted. “So…”

I turned sharply towards him. “Yes! I’m a dancer, this week, next month who knows. But the money is good, and I loved the attention. Besides, I rarely wear less than what you’re seeing now because of the tricks I do.”

Daley smirked and her and Ellion looked like they were trying to hold in their laughter. Covyn was groaning in frustration at me having walked away from him to berate Spenser but he’d get over it.

He looked stupidly at Covyn and I knew what he was preparing to say would be one of the stupidest things he had ever said.

“.. and she’s human? Boss are you sure?” Spencer’s voice was sincere, like he didn’t mean any harm by it, but the other two winced on his behalf when Covyn lunged forward and started strangling him.

“Well look at that, it’s just like how we first met. So now that it’s come full circle, I’m just going to toddle home…” I muttered, walking towards my car on the gravel, in my heels like a bloody professional.

“No,” Covyn gasped, dropping Spencer to come after me. “You’re not going anywhere except home with me, Evadiene. You are mine and…”

“I’m not yours!” I snapped back. “I am no one to anyone. I am ridiculously noncommittal and not property, despite my current occupation, I dance because I like it, I’m good at it, and it’s easy. Rich men pay me for the honour of appreciating my body and skill, but they don’t own me, and neither do you.” I pushed a finger against his chest to make my point and he tensed.

“Mate,” he growled at me. “Don’t push me any further I….”

“I dance because I want to, and I don’t care how much you paid that doesn’t entitle you-“ he tried to grab me and I smacked his hand. “- don’t touch me, I’m not yours. You can’t have me, Mr. Durem.”

I saw him flash Daley an irritated tone for giving me his last name but he didn’t growl this time. “Evadiene, please I…”

“I’m not a hooker, Covyn! So just back off.” Everyone seemed taken aback by what I said and I wasn’t sure if Covyn would shake me or cry. “Listen, you seem nice, and I’d be lying if i said I wasn’t into you. How about I give you my number…”

“No,” his voice was so firm in its rejection that I thought he might make /me cry.

My throat felt like it was closing up and I nodded without looking at any of them. I turned to head back to the club, I needed my purse before I could go home, but then I would drive so fast with my music so loud that I couldn’t hear my thoughts about /Covyn Durem.

An arm suddenly wrapped around my bare stomach and pulled me in close. An aggressive growl filled my ear, in which I was sure I heard him say ‘you are mine’, before he bit me.

Searing pain lanced down my shoulder and up my neck, and he covered my mouth to muffle my screams. It felt like being touched with a white hot poker and my eyes watered as the pain took over every thought I had.

I flailed against him, but it was no use, and then as fast as it began the pain was gone, replaced by a warm drunk feeling. The feeling snaked it’s way through my body making every inch of my skin tingle with electricity.

I ebbed in his arms and I was vaguely aware he was the only thing keeping me off the ground. In the distance I saw Gregory getting out of his car, he was one of the cops in this neighbourhood, but I couldn’t bring myself to yell to him.

I was at Covyn’s mercy.
