Chapter 711 Hobbies
Charles had several hobbies and talents. Even if he weren't the CEO of a successful corporation, he wouldn't starve to death.
"Amazing! You're fantastic at showing off your talents!" said Nancy as her face revealed her astonishment.
"I don't usually show off like this."
The two enjoyed a conversation while preparing the food.
Soon, dinner was ready. After Nancy prepared the table, she called, "Kids, dinner's ready! Come and eat!"
"Okay, Mommy!" Bobby shouted back.
Then, he and Nadia walked downstairs towards the dining area.
When he noticed the extravagant dinner prepared, Bobby's eyes widened. "Mommy, Daddy, the food looks delicious! Who made it?"
"It's both of them. Mommy and Daddy work together to prepare our meal!" answered Nadia with a bright smile.
"Well, aren't you two sweet today?" While she was talking, a thought entered Nancy's head. She glanced at Charles and continued, "They say that a dull mood is infectious. Well, I guess that a happy temperament can also affect those around you."
"Well, that is a wonderful realization. Maybe we should all maintain a good temperament with each other. Let's try not to fight whenever we're in the same room. Our house is homely and sweet. We shouldn't treat it like a battlefield," Charles half-jokingly said.
"Okay! I support that proposal." Nadia raised her hand with a boastful smile.
"Sure. But we need to regulate it. We can't just say it now and forget it later. I suggest we make a rule that whoever breaks the agreement will be punished!" Bobby suggested in a proud tone.
Charles nodded. "I agree with Bobby's suggestion. It's a terrific idea. What if we do that challenge? Anyone who loses their temper will clean the toilet for a week and laugh twenty times a day. There will be no excuses."
"What?" Bobby, Nadia, and Nancy all shouted in unison. Disbelief painted their faces.
"Why? Is it too hard for a punishment?" Charles asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"No, Daddy. I think it's a great idea!" Nadia proudly answered out of confidence about her temper. With a smug expression, she glanced at Bobby and continued, "However, I don't think Bobby can control his temperament."
"What are you saying? I can be calm and composed if I want to. You should worry about your emotional outbursts." Bobby was brimming with confidence. In his mind, he had better tolerance than everyone else.
If Bobby reached the end of his patience, he would leave. As such, he never lost control of his emotions before.
Meanwhile, Charles looked at Nancy.
He gloatingly stared at her.
"Well, the children have already agreed. How about you?" asked Charles with a raised eyebrow.
"Same goes for you! What are you thinking?" A guilty expression painted Nancy's face.
Despite trying hard to control her temper, she would often lose control of her emotions when dealing with Charles, who was very unreasonable.
Nonetheless, she had always regretted those times that she'd lost control. When she thought about it afterward, she realized how unsightly her reaction was.
A woman would usually be mindful of her appearance and actions. However, she seemed to have no self-awareness about her character. In her head, she longed to be calm like Charles.
Even though she was trying to contain her anger, Nancy would often feel uncomfortable and vent it out anyway.
On the other hand, Charles wasn't like that. He always maintained a calm and headstrong character. No matter what the conflict was, he always acted composed in front of the children.
It was easy for Charles to look unflustered. However, Nancy was unable to even learn how to do it.
"Since I'm the one who proposed the challenge, it would only be natural that I will follow the rules. And although I don't want to force your participation, I would prefer that you join us, okay?" "Let's do it, Mommy! You can do it!" Bobby had a wide grin on his face.
"There's nothing Mommy can't do. She is the best!" Nadia added with a smile.
"Look, Nancy! The children are counting on you," Charles chided with raised eyebrows.
In her mind, Nancy was already aware of it.
Since the children had expressed their desire to participate, how could she, their mother, not join the activity?
Nancy had to meet her children's expectations. As such, she had to manage her emotions to build a happy family.
If she were to lose control of her anger, she would laugh twenty times a day. Laughing too much would wrinkle her face.
It would damage her skin and depress her.
The kids had it easy since they had always laughed whenever they wanted. They were still young and energetic. Laughter was naturally a part of their daily lives.
On the other hand, Charles seemed like he was getting younger. His face was always smooth and had no wrinkles. All year round, he looked fresh.
However, he had a high sense of self-discipline. If he didn't want to lose control of his emotions, he remained unfazed.
Such was Charles' character. It was a useful talent for him to be successful in the corporate world.
"Well, I also agree. I promise to follow the rules. Of course, I will also act as your supervisor. We can all work together so that our lives can improve!" Charles had already made several compromises that day. Nancy could no longer pretend anymore. As such, she wholeheartedly expressed her thoughts.
She would try not to get angry. She had to learn from Charles' composure, no matter how frustrated she was.
"Well, Mommy has a great point. We should all work together towards a harmonious relationship. Okay, children! To ensure our happiness, we need to learn how to manage our temper from now on. Now, let's eat! "A warm smile flashed across Charles' face.
Then, his kind eyes gave Nancy an appreciative look.
"Yes, let's dig in!" Nancy also revealed a grin.
It seemed that her personality became gentler after she agreed to the challenge.
Humans badly needed restrictions.
Dinner was delightful. Every time someone spoke, they used a calm tone.
At first, everyone was awkward because of the new setup.
However, they eventually eased up and relaxed.
The change in the children's attitude was apparent. They took the initiative in doing their chores, and there was no need for Nancy or Charles to tell the kids what to do. After eating, Nadia and Bobby played for a while before taking a shower.
"Good night!" After saying that to Charles and Nancy, the kids went to their rooms to sleep.
Nancy wasn't used to it.
She realized that her children suddenly became somewhat independent. She was confused about whether it was good or bad for her.
She felt happy and disappointed at the same time.
"Hey, are you okay? You look unhappy," Charles asked after taking a bath. His hair was still wet as he wrapped a white bath towel around his waist.
"No. It's not like that. I'm happy about what's happening. Children are bound to grow up anyway. There will come a time that they will leave this nest, so high, and enjoy their lives. As for us, we'll grow old and.
"And the two of us will take care of each other and enjoy our days. Nancy, we are talking about life. Naturally, our children will grow independent. We, their parents, are characters in their lives. We have the supporting roles, but we are not the protagonists!" Charles advised as he sat next to Nancy.
'Is this life?'
Nancy put her hand on her face. With a chuckle, she said, "Okay."
"How about you take a shower? We can sleep early tonight." Charles kissed Nancy on her cheek.
Then, she stood up and entered the bathroom.
A satisfied expression painted Nancy's face after she heard Charles' tender words.
She appreciated such a happy home with Charles and the children.
If the kidnapping case at the club hadn't happened, she and Charles would have been married already.
Unfortunately, the case was yet to be solved. And she was unwilling to Charles yet.
