Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo

Chapter 953

"What else can you do other than pour coffee for Mr. Logan Senior?" Larissa asked her.

Marilyn's work was related to Gary only-she was in charge of some of his personal matters during working hours and arranging his schedule for the day.

Before Blue Star Shipping had all these issues, Gary's routine was regular. He would get off work on time every day.

The company's partners knew about this, so they would not make any calls after working hours.

Therefore, to Larissa, Marilyn had no reason to work overtime.

"Hey!" Marilyn glared as she grumbled. "I can do more than that, you know! Don't look down on me! I can totally just-" She grinned slyly. "Pour more coffee for Mr. Logan Senior."

They worked overtime until 9:00 pm. Larissa concentrated on her own work and did not pay attention to what Marilyn was doing. She vaguely remembered Marilyn getting up a few times to bring coffee to Gary's office.

Finally, Gary was off work. He stopped in front of Marilyn and said to her, "You don't need to work overtime anymore in the future. If I want coffee, I will get it myself."

Marilyn looked awkward as she quickly said, "Okay."

After Gary left, Marilyn went over to Larissa again and asked, "Mr. Logan Senior's already gone. You're still not going to get off work?"

Larissa glanced at Lewis' office, which was still bright. "Look, my boss isn't gone yet! I gotta perform well too and make sure he fires me last."

Marilyn went back to her seat again. "I'll accompany you then!" S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"No need." Larissa rejected her good intentions. "It's late; you're a girl. It's not safe for you to go home."

"Aren't you a girl as well?" Marilyn retorted.

"But I've got someone picking me up!" Larissa could not say that Lewis was sending her home.

Thinking that Marilyn had seen Kevan come pick her up a few times, Larissa just randomly made up an excuse like this.

Marilyn thought about it. "Alright then." She had just stood up when Lewis' office lights turned off. Less than two minutes later, Lewis came out.

"Why are you both here?" He was surprised.

"I'm waiting to leave with Larissa." Marilyn reached up to throw her hair back. She looked embarrassed.

"You don't have to wait next time." Lewis walked past her to stand in front of Larissa. "I will send her home."

Marilyn looked like she had heard some incredibly shocking news. She looked up in shock and looked at Lewis and Larissa who were now together due to Lewis' position.

Having her lie exposed just like that, Larissa angrily pinched Lewis from behind, which only made him look at her in confusion.

"Thank you for your concern and care, Mr. Logan Junior." Larissa forced out a smile of gratitude. "But that won't be necessary. My driver will come pick me up."

To prevent Lewis from saying anything that would make her look bad, Larissa pinched Lewis harder as she used her eyes to tell Lewis to shut up.

Lewis cooperated with her and nodded. He did his best to maintain a calm expression on his face. "Alright then."

Only then did Larissa let go.

"Oh, yeah." Lewis seemed to have just remembered. "There's a document that I can't find anymore. Try searching for it on your laptop and send it to me now." After that, he turned to Marilyn again. "You can leave first. We might be a little slow."

Marilyn hummed softly as she quickly walked away with her head down.

"What document are you trying to find?" Larissa sat down again as she put her hand on her mouse.

"I lied to her." Lewis gave her a look of pure scorn and disdain. It was very obvious that he was sneering at her for not being able to tell that he had just told a shitty lie.

"Turn off your laptop. I'll send you home."
