Chapter 30
Chapter 30
After Amber was discharged from the hospital, Travis still did not send his parents
away.
He terminated her lease for the one-bedroom apartment she used to live in and
rented a two-bedroom apartment to make it easier for his parents to stay and take
care of her.
As for himself, he started coming home later and later as time went on. Even when he had finished all of his tasks, he would create excuses to work overtime just to avoid being on the receiving end of Amber's sudden rages.
Today was no different.
When Travis arrived at the restaurant, most of Larissa's colleagues had already dispersed, leaving only a few who were sober to accompany Larissa until his arrival.
Travis didn't know if he was simply overthinking or not. He couldn't help but feel that the remaining people in the private room were looking at him with open disdain, as if they despised his very existence.
"Ms. Seymour is over there." Larissa's assistant pointed at Larissa, who was already asleep on a round table in a corner.
Travis thanked her and walked over immediately.
Larissa was wearing a thin, V-neck sweater, her shoulder-length hair tied into a ponytail, revealing her smooth, slender neck. Travis looked at her with a strange feeling in his heart.
Larissa was undoubtedly beautiful. He wouldn't have married her otherwise, even if it meant never having children in his lifetime.
Her face and her body were extremely attractive to him, but her performance in bed often left him disappointed.
As such, he was immediately hooked by Amber's passionate nature.
Travis initially thought that he was capable of compartmentalizing his spirit and his body, but as time went on and the longer he remained in his illicit yet gentle affair with Amber, the more disgusted he felt with Larissa, who didn't understand sensuality.
Travis restrained his amped-up desire and reached out to grab hold of Larissa's shoulder.
Her assistant stopped him hurriedly. "Don't touch Ms. Seymour's shoulder! She was injured some time ago and just took off her splint yesterday."
Travis had known nothing about the incident.
He was stunned for a moment before guilt rushed through his body.
After learning about his infidelity, Larissa's assistant was not polite to him at all. She glanced at him sideways, her words sharp. "What kind of husband are you? How did you not notice these kinds of details? Do you want to put her in the hospital again?"
Travis was rendered speechless.
He cautiously avoided the site of her injury and lifted her slowly. He carried her all the way downstairs and let her lie in the back seat of his car.
Larissa had already moved out of the house, and he'd long used unethical means to transfer the ownership of the house to his name.
He realized that he did not know where she currently lived.
In the end, he drove back to the house where they both used to live.
As they had yet to finalize the matters of their divorce, Travis was not in a rush to move over with Amber. Now, the house was still empty, its interior unchanged from what it used to be when he moved out. No one had been there for more than a month and the house had accumulated a
thick layer of dust.
As soon as he entered, Travis choked on the dust flying everywhere. For a moment, he could only cough.
Travis wiped off a corner of the sofa with his hand and let Larissa sit there. Later, he changed the sheets and bed covers of the master bedroom.
When he was finally ready to carry Larissa inside, his phone rang.
The only people who would call him at this hour were Amber and his parents.
The caller was Amber.
Travis pursed his lips and answered his phone reluctantly.
Amber plowed ahead without bothering with pleasantries. "Where are you now?" Her tone was aggressive and unrestrained
