Chapter 1199 Teacher and Student
Sydney's face and tone were both serious.
Julien knew that if he was still unwilling to do as he was told, she would definitely do what she had said.
Sydney was such a person.
Even though their current relationship was close, she was not willing to take much advantage of him.
"Alas." Julien shook his head resignedly, pulling over her office chair and sitting down. "Is it okay now?" Sydney nodded in satisfaction. "Yes."
With that, she also sat down on another chair that was slightly worse and then added, "Julien, don't think that I'm stubborn and unwilling to accept your goodness to me. I know that you want to do more for me, and you also want to let me sit more comfortably. I'm touched, and I accept it too, but if I really accept all of your kindness, especially when you're already helping me, it will only make me more and more greedy.
"In the end, I will take all of your goodness to me as a matter of course, and over time, I will even forget to do something for you. I will only know how to enjoy your goodness to me but do nothing for you. That is selfish. If someday you are not that good to me or neglect me a bit, I will be unable to accept it and may even act irrationally, so Julien."
She looked up at Julien. "If you do that, you'll only spoil me, and I don't think you want me to become such a bad person, right? That isn't me."
Julien locked eyes with her. After staring at her for a few moments, he finally sighed and felt relieved. "I understand. In the future, when I want to do something for you, I'll think more about the consequences before making a decision. You're right, being spoiled without limits will change a person a lot and make him more and more different from before. I was wrong.
"I'm glad that you know this. Well, teach me now. Let's finish these and get back early. I'll make you some soup." Sydney brought the stack of papers over to Julien. Julien's eyelids twitched. "Soup?"
At this moment, the soup he had in the morning at the old residence came back to his mind. For a moment, resistance was written all over his face.
He picked up the topmost document, and his voice was a bit stiff as he replied, "No, I don't want soup for now."
Even a trace of fear surfaced on his face.
It could be seen how much that soup had frightened and traumatized him.
It was the first time Sydney had seen Julien afraid.
Julien always seemed omnipotent. Sydney had never seen him scared before.
It was as if these emotions would never appear in him by nature.
So such emotions shouldn't have appeared on him, so it was refreshing for Sydney to see that.
Of course, she knew why such emotions appeared.
It seemed that the soup really had a big psychological impact on him.
Sydney couldn't help but smile.
Of course, that soup also gave her a terrible impression.
But compared to Julien, who directly ate it, Sydney was not frightened that much. Now that she thought about it, she didn't feel much fear. Instead, she sighed.
"Don't worry. It's the kind of strange soup that Grandma and Felicia made. It's an ordinary bone broth. Mrs. Chase prepared the ingredients and specially asked me to cook for you. She said it could help your arm recover. After all, your arm has not completely healed. Although it looks well, you still can't lift heavy things or shake your arm widely. Mrs. Chase knew that, so after she went back to her parents' home, she found big animal femurs," Sydney said.
When Luke delivered the ingredients yesterday, Sydney still didn't know what exactly Mrs. Chase had gotten for Julien. Mrs. Chase just told her to stew them for Julien.
It wasn't until after Luke left and she took out the specialties to pack some for Grandma that she saw the big animal femurs.
"Are you referring to Luke's mother?" Julien was slightly surprised.
Sydney nodded. "Yeah, who else can it be?"
"Yesterday when we went to the old residence, I knew Mrs. Chase prepared a lot of specialties for you, and you delivered some to Grandma, but I didn't hear that she had prepared something for me too," Julien said.
Sydney laughed, "I forgot to tell you, but it just didn't seem necessary because I didn't think they would be taken to the old residence."
Julien tapped Sydney's forehead as if to say that she could forget even that.
"What femurs are they? Mrs. Chase even went back to her parents' home to get them. Why couldn't she just tell us to buy them here?" Julien twirled his pen with his slender fingers in curiosity.
'Are those bones from some wild animal?'
Julien was skeptical, thinking the possibility was very high.
Seeing Julien's face full of seriousness, Sydney knew what he was thinking.
She had also wondered if they were something like that before, and she even sent a message to ask Mrs. Chase. Only after Mrs. Chase told Sydney did she realize that they were not what she thought they were. The big femurs were from a cow.
Mrs. Chase's parents lived in the
countryside. The cows there were purely fed grass, grain, and even herbs, better than the cows that were fed fodder in the city. The soup made from those cows was more flavorful and nutritious, so Mrs. Chase got the ingredients from the
countryside rather than the city.
Knowing this, she was completely relieved. Otherwise, she would be worried if she would be sent to the police station.
"Rest assured. They are just ordinary
pig femurs. Mrs. Chase didn't let us buy them ourselves because it was not easy to buy them in the city. Not to mention the city, we can't buy
them from those foreign farms, net
Herbs are grown by almost every family in Mrs. Chase's hometown. It's the largest herbal medicine planting base in the country, so the pigs over there are fed herbs while growing up. The soup made of these bones is good for you." Sydney told the half-truth.
The falsehood was that she had referred to the cow as a pig.
She had no choice. Julien just ate the tonic soup made of cows' pizzles in the morning. Sydney guessed Julien already disliked cows.
If he knew that the soup she was going to cook for him tonight was made of cow femurs, he might not eat it no matter what she said. Therefore, it was better for her not to say it.
Sure enough, hearing that the bones
were pig femurs, Julien didn't have the slightest bit of resistance on his
face. Instead, there was a touch of gratitude on his face. "Give my thanks to Mrs. Chase. I'll have Zach deliver a gift over later."
"Don't worry. I've thanked Mrs. Chase, but don't buy her a very expensive gift, or she won't accept it," Sydney reminded him.
Julien nodded slightly. "I know."
"Speaking of which, Mrs. Chase is really good to you. When Luke delivered the pig femurs yesterday and told me about it, he looked so jealous," Sydney teased.
Julien raised an eyebrow and curved his thin lips. "Really? That's pretty good."
Anyway, knowing Luke was unhappy made Julien happy.
Sydney naturally understood what Julien was thinking, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Shaking her head, she said, "You are really... Well, it's getting late. Hurry up and teach me. Let's get these done and go back."
Julien nodded. "Sit closer to me."
"Uh-huh," Sydney responded, moving her chair closer to Julien.
After that, the two sat next to each other, head to head, immersed in study and work.
Julien was cool, looking impatient.
Besides that, he didn't seem like a person who would teach students. When the students saw his cold face, not to mention learning things, they might be afraid of him and shiver in front of him.
Moreover, even if they learned something from Julien, they would have to worry that they would be expelled by him because they didn't learn well or fast enough and could not satisfy him.
All in all, facing a teacher like Julien, any student might be under a lot of pressure.
