Chapter 62
At first, Zion was very wary, concerned that his abilities would not measure up to those of others.
After hearing Victoria’s words, he gradually developed a sense of understanding and realized he had grasped Matthew’s principles.
In the end, being too young, he was unable to maintain his composure.
He assured Victoria. I’m certain I’ll triumph over him!“
Victoria still wanted to speak, yet Zion had already gone onto the field.
Before he took the cue, he glanced at Matthew and pursed his lips. “Mr. Shadwell, would you like to up the count?”
Matthew stood tall, casually wiping the cue with the fan.
Hearing this, he looked up at Zion nonchalantly, “What have you got for me to add?”
“If prevail, not only will you concede this match, but you will also abstain from coming here to play billiards in the future.”
Zion paused for a moment and then declared, “Moreover, you must not show yourself to Victoria again in the future!”
“What if I win?” Matthew asked, his expression unreadable.
“What would you like?”
“She’ll give me what I want,” Matthew said with a smile as he looked at Victoria.
“What do you mean?” Zion asked. “Did you add a code?”
He was unaware of the wager between them and was a bit uneasy. “This is between the two of us. You mustn’t involve Victoria in this!”
“I will take her to accompany me for a night as the bet. Don’t you think it’s hypocritical of you to bring this up now?”
Matthew easily bared his face and looked down at him. “Don’t dally. Fight fast.”
“You
Zion’s rage was fully ignited. He grabbed the club without uttering a word. “Just you wait! I ain’t givin‘ Victoria to ya!”
Victoria watched from the side with some worry. She said to him, “Zion, don’t be too extreme…”
But Zion could no longer listen to her words; after a few hits, each ball was thrilling.
“Whoa… Brother Zion is flaunting his abilities!”
“As expected of Brother Zion! He can even sink this shot?”
“I reckon Brother Zion has a great shot at winning!”
The voices of the discussion around them increased in volume.
Zion exuded even more confidence as he cast a provocative glance at Matthew, almost as if he were trying to score as quickly as possible.
He was young and full of vigor, wanting to play each shot to the best of his ability and taking the necessary risks.
In the end, Zion had amassed a lead of 50 points.
When the waiter reported the figures, Jaime lifted his chin and gestured towards Matthew. “Matthew, can you handle it?”
Matthew said nothing, slowly undoing the buttons of his shirt to reveal his strong, muscular arms.
The muscles were beautiful, and two blue veins lay dormant on them, faintly visible with each movement.
Without uttering a word, his presence was enough to make those around him fall silent and gaze upon him.
Victoria glanced at him briefly.
If no unforeseen event occurred, Zion’s score was sufficient to conclude the wager.
But…
She always felt that nothing was straightforward.
Matthew leaned against the billiard table and glanced at her. Suddenly, he grinned. “Victoria, look clearly how I beat him!”
He bent down and delivered a beautiful hit.
The red ball plummeted into the bag so swiftly that not even a shadow remained visible.
1/2
10.507
It was a clean and direct hit.
Wow…”
No discussion was heard, only the sound of breathing.
Matthew straightened and sauntered to the other side, another ball in tow…
It was trickier and more beautiful than the previous ball.
Bang! Bang! Bang! As if someone had struck their heartstrings, causing them to tense up involuntarily.
