Chapter 39
Upstairs, Kira stood quietly on the balcony and looked out upon the city. She had so far refused to change her blood soaked, torn clothing, and refused to eat anything that was offered. Her depression had cut deeper than any inflicted wound ever would.
“Kira,” She heard come from behind her.
“Domascus,” She whispered and then turned to see him standing there.
She raced across the room into his open arms and cried. “How?”
“Your father let me out. I don’t have long.” He whispered into her hair.
“Why did you do this?” She sobbed.
“You need to understand. I did it for you.” He held her tight. “It’s the best chance you have Kira. I need you to move on.”
“Never,” She whispered.
“You must,” He replied and pressed his lips to hers.
When he pulled back she was smiling, “You’re not my Domascus.”
What came next surprised him. Kira head butted him right in the nose. Before he had a chance to react she swept his feet out from under him. He hit the ground hard knocking the wind out of him as he shimmered and became himself again.
“How did you know?” He hissed holding his bleeding nose.
“First, my father would never let him out. Second, you still kiss like a child.” She smirked.
Michalei kicked Kira’s ankle dropping her to her knee as he stood. He leered down at her and contemplated kicking her again. Instead he turned away.
“Clean yourself up and join us for dinner. Every minute you’re late and I’ll make your Domascus suffer for it.” He threatened and then was gone.
Kira cursed and punched the wall. She could destroy him with a thought if she wanted to. But as long as he held Domascus, she was powerless to do so. So she did just as he demanded and cleaned herself up. When Kira emerged from the bathroom her father was standing there. She could instantly tell that he was sad.
“Papa,” She said softly.
“I was wrong about him and you. I’m sorry daughter.” Sephiroth admitted.
“It’s alright papa. I understand.” She said and wrapped her arms around him.
“It’s not alright. All this hate and anger at the past created a monster worse than he ever was. I have to make it right.” He replied.
“How are we going to do that?” She asked.
“You are going to take Domascus and go to Earth.” He stated.
“But papa, what about Avalon?” She exclaimed.
“It will sleep until you return. That is all you need to know. He’s in the ceremonial chamber below the castle. Go to him. I’ll distract Michalei as long as I can.” He said.
Kira wouldn’t let him go. “I love you papa.”
“I promised your mother that I’d give you a normal life.” He sighed. “I’m keeping good to my word. I love you Kira. Now go.”
Sephiroth pushed her away and disappeared down the hall. She knew she had to do this silent and quickly. She wrapped herself in darkness and reappeared in the shadows of the ceremonial chamber. From there she waited for her father to take Michalei away.
