Singularity

Chapter 35

That was it! Michalei could have danced with joy. He figured out how to get past the guardians and get back into Avalon. All he had to do was upset the balance at one of the main power sections. So if he burned the earth to the ground, and shielded himself from the flames it should give him just enough time to pass through without detection.

Michalei smiled as he transported himself north of Avalon. He started his fire and used the wind to drive it toward the earth elemental guardian. As the flames scorched the land he could feel the power drain from it. In an instant the ground roared like thunder. The guardian had fallen. He strolled right though uninhibited and hid himself in the city waiting for the inevitable commotion that would come from what he had done.

Kira doubled over in agony, clutching at her stomach. The pain radiated from her as Domascus put his arm around her to steady her.

“Something is horribly wrong.” She cried and they heard the crash.

“Look to the north.” He pointed at the black smoke that rolled through the sky.

“Dear goddess, the guardian has fallen.” She whimpered.

“We can fix this. Hold on Kira.” He said as he clung to her tightly.

In a puff of black smoke Domascus took Kira to the scorched land. She cried as she looked at the devastation the fire had caused and the guardian that had fallen to its knees. He took her hand kneeled with her and did what she had shown him to do. He breathed the life back into the land, restoring all that was destroyed until the guardian was able to stand again.

Dizzy but successful, Domascus rolled over into the grass certain he would black out at any moment. Kira lay beside him, struggling to catch her breath. She knew then that the war was coming. Michalei had found a way back in.

“He’s in there now.” Domascus said mirroring her thoughts.

“Yes, we have to get back to the city. Who knows what he will do next.” She sighed.

“As long as we stand together my love, we will be alright.” He promised her.

Kira nodded, stood, and took Domascus by the hand. She pulled him to his feet and took them back to Avalon’s court yard. The people looked frightened. She didn’t know what to tell them and hung her head sadly.

“It has been resolved. Let’s continue our celebration in joy.” Domascus stated and held her tight.

Sephiroth stepped from his place in the shadows and took his daughter by the arm. They were both exhausted. He could see it on their faces.

“I got this. You two go rest.” He stated.

“Thank you papa.” Kira sighed.

Domascus put his arm around Kira and slowly walked her back to the castle. For the second time in his long life, he was afraid. He knew the kind of evil that was coming for her. To protect her from it he feared would mean he too would be evil once again. He didn’t have the heart to tell her so he just lay down with her and insisted that they rest until their strength returned.
