Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Inside the car.
Sally looked at the injury on her forehead, realizing that it was quite serious.
“Jeremy, do you have a mask in your car?”
With such a serious injury, it needed to be covered. If Mia and Kara saw it, they would definitely be worried.
Jeremy looked at her with affection and handed her a mask.
“Thank you!” Sally opened the mask and put it on, finding that it effectively concealed the injury. Only then did she feel at
ease.
“Did Howard do this to you?”
Jeremy gripped the steering wheel tightly, as if suppressing some emotion, anger gleaming in his eyes.
In Bomsville, besides Howard, there was no one else who could hurt her.
Sally curled her lips and whispered, “No, it has nothing to do with him.”
Jeremy’s grip on the steering wheel tightened even more.
Besides Howard, no one else could make her lie.
“It’s been six years. Can’t you forget about him?” Jeremy

spoke with anger in his voice.

This was the first time he had spoken to Sally in such a tone.
Sally lowered her head, remaining silent.
She thought she could forget, but when she saw him again, she realized that the feeling of attraction was still there.
Jeremy also fell silent, and a heavy atmosphere filled the car.
After a moment, Sally spoke first to ease the tension. “By the way, Jeremy, do you know which kindergarten in Bomsville is better? Of course, it would be great if it’s close to home. Mia and Kara are about to start school. I’ve been away for six years, and Bomsville has developed so quickly. I don’t know much about it, and I don’t know anyone I can ask.”
“I’ll find out for you.” Jeremy’s expression improved significantly.
“Thank you!”
Jeremy’s mouth curved into a bitter smile as he turned to Sally. “Can you stop being so polite to me every time? Even if we’re just ordinary friends, you don’t have to say ‘thank you‘ every other sentence.”
No matter how hard he tried, there was always an impassable divide between him and Sally.
Every time he tried to take a step forward, Sally would take a step back.
Sally didn’t know how to respond to his words, so she could only remain silent, although her eyes showed remorse.

Jeremy let out a soft sigh, withdrew his gaze, and continued to focus on driving.
As Sally expected, when she didn’t come home, Mia and Kara had no intention of going to bed.
Scarlet reminded them several times.
Both children said in unison, “Waiting for mommy to come back.”
“It’s so late. Why aren’t you sleeping yet?” Sally walked in from the door.
“Mummy!”
Mia and Kara jumped off the couch and ran towards her.
Sally hugged them both in her arms.
“Mummy, why did you come back so late?” Mia asked with
concern.
Sally rubbed his head and smiled softly, “Mommy had some unfinished work, so she was busy until this late.”
“Mummy, why are you wearing a mask?” Kara reached out to take off Sally’s mask.
Sally quickly leaned back, avoiding Kara’s hand. “Mommy caught a cold, afraid of infecting you.”
“Mummy, how did you catch a cold?”
