Seven Years of Marriage with Jake

Chapter 28

Book 2- Chapter 19

While keeping an eye on Ethan and Mia's progress, I started researching the direction for my future career.

Although Mia had agreed to the proposal, her parents demanded $500,000. Ethan had no choice but to discuss with his parents about selling their old, small house.

His parents naturally didn't agree, but Ethan lied to them saying Mia was pregnant and they needed to get married quickly. After resisting for a few days, his parents finally gave in. It's not easy to sell a house quickly, so they had to settle for a low price.

I pulled some strings behind the scenes, and in the end, the house fell into my hands at a low price.

Seeing them all squeezed into a rented apartment, I felt utterly delighted!

They looked down on my family, but now, aren't they homeless too?

When they went for their pre-marital health check, Ethan was found to have low sperm motility and couldn't father children.

Ethan kept this news tightly under wraps.

But who would have thought that the examining physician was my good friend?

She had previously advised me to bring Ethan for a check-up, but he always refused Now that my friend discovered this, she naturally couldn't wait to tell me. So, it was him who couldn't have children!

Back when Ethan and I got married, we didn't do a pre-marital health check. When we hadn't conceived after a year of marriage, everyone urged me to get checked.

I was diagnosed with endocrine disorders, and the doctor said it might not be conducive to pregnancy. So I drank Chinese herbal medicine for nearly a year. Later, when my condition improved but I still couldn't get pregnant, I asked him to get checked. He and his family refused, unanimously believing it must be my problem. They forced me to go to various hospitals for checks, drawing tube after tube of blood, all showing no problems.

His parents then sought out all kinds of folk remedies for me to try, scientific and unscientific alike.

I suffered greatly because of this.

Even now, remembering it makes my whole body cold, my mouth bitter, nauseous and wanting to vomit.

Suddenly, I recalled that when I was floating by his side, I became weaker and weaker due to extreme sorrow and resentment, sleeping on and off. The last time I woke up, I heard that Mia was pregnant, and he was so happy. Thinking about it now, it's truly laughable.
