Self Chapter 57
Chapter 57
“So you’ve seen the light, huh?” Michael sprang from the couch. “Done with the saint act?”
Yale did not crack a smile or even glance up.
“Just the usual game, nothing new.”
Michael grinned, glad to see his friend back in the game. “Cool, I’ll set it up. She’ll be no fuss, no muss.”
A few minutes after they hung up, Michael texted an address.
[Michael: Golden Mansion 1080]
[Michael: Been eyeing this girl for ages. She’s still fresh, She’s all yours.]
Yale’s lips quirked as he grabbed his jacket and headed out into the thick night, a springtime moment awaiting him.
The next day, Michael emerged from the neighboring room in a bathrobe. He had had too much to drink the night before and slept right through to noon.
The Gray family’s crown jewel was the Golden Mansion, and he had the penthouse suite at the hotel all to himself, sprawling even more than the average three–bedroom flat.
He yawned, tousled his hair, and, feeling a bit thirsty, decided to pour himself a glass of red wine before heading to the living room.
Stepping out, he caught sight of a woman’s alluring silhouette, her bare shoulders marked with red traces that sparked his imagination,
Her eyes were pools of wistfulness as she gazed at Yale, but he was as unmoved as stone, paying her off and sending her on her way.
Yale’s eyes met Michael’s, who seemed to be watching the drama unfolding with amusement and casually lit a smoke.
“That look in her eyes is enough to melt anyone; you’re just stone–cold. Don’t you have a heart for the ladies?” Michael smirked.
Yale’s lips curled into a detached smile. “The deal’s done, no strings attached. Why feel sorry?”
“Fair point.” Michael lifted his glass. “Join me for a drink?”
“I’ll pass.
Only Michael would knock back drinks at that hour, as if time meant nothing to him.
The cigarette glowed between Yale’s fingers. He took a drag and leisurely blew out a stream of smoke, his face a mask of cool indifference.
Despite the night’s indulgences, he did not look all too pleased.
Michael’s gaze flickered. “You’re not worried about Yara throwing a fit about you sneaking around?”
Yale scowled. “Why should I be? She’s just an ex. Does she even count?”
Ouch!
No love lost there, it seemed.

her?”
She was quite a catch in her own right, not quite Yara’s level, but with a freshness about her that was pretty tempting.
Yet, Yale would not touch Xandra, even with her right there for the taking.
Yale blew out another ring of smoke. “Decent women, too much hassle.”
Michael cracked a smile. “So, why weren’t you scared of Yara being a hassle? She’s the serious type, you know.”
Yale blinked, taking a moment before he replied, “Yeah, well, that’s why it took me six years to get rid of her finally.”
Michael laughed. “That’s so like you to say.”
