Shaw, usually unflappable, was distraught. Thompson was surprised."She was promoted to captain. She's on her new route. Why are you looking for her?"
"A new route?" Shaw was shocked."When? Why didn't she tell me?"
Julia always shared everything with him...
she tell
you?" Thompson
didn't
understand.
"It's her plan. Why would "She's been your co-pilot for five years. With her ability, she could've been a captain three years go," Thompson explained."She did it for you."
Shaw stood frozen, overwhelmed. Julia could have been a captain three years ago, but stayed as his co-pilot to fly with him?
He looked up, concealing his pain."Can you tell me where she went? I need to find her." Thompson stopped. "Why? She has her job; you have yours." Besides, Julia wanted to keep it secret.
Shaw said, "She's my girlfriend. I want her back." He didn't want her to leave. Thompson sighed. "You've been together? Without telling anyone?"
Shaw nodded. "Five years."
"Five years? And you kept it a secret!" Thompson was speechless.
"Director, can you tell me where she is? I want to get her back," Shaw insisted. Thompson patted his shoulder and slid a transfer form across the desk. Shaw saw "Denver International Airport" and felt a glimmer of hope. "Thank you. I'll take a few days off to find her." Thompson stopped him."Handle your handover first. She's at Denver; she's not going anywhere." Shaw nodded firmly."Thank you, sir. Thank you so much!"
Before Shaw left, Thompson said, "You may leave in three days."
Shaw wanted to go immediately, but as a pilot, he was responsible for the airport and his flights. He began handling his handover.
He returned to his empty house. After five years with Julia, he realized how deeply he loved her. He had thought he didn't believe in fate, but he was wrong. He refused to tell everyone Julia was his girlfriend, and then she left. If he had made their relationship public earlier...
He posted a photo of him and Julia.
"It's official. We've been together for five years. Bless us!"
