Chapter My Troubles 72

Nydia shook her head.

"First of all, I don't need to compete. I have always been Mrs. Wilcher."

Helen's expression froze.

"Secondly, I'm getting a divorce, which you should know. I don't want that man anymore, so where is the competition?"

Her words made Helen uneasy. "Mrs. Wilcher, these tricks of yours have indeed caught Mr. Wilcher's attention."

If that weren't the case, she would have already asked Mona to come here and take a shortcut.

Nydia sneered. "I'm only here today to collect some things and then leave. So, Helen, if you truly have any other intentions, don't listen to Mick's nonsense. Let me leave in peace." Helen paused for a moment. Nydia then casually linked her arm with Helen's. "I believe you

are a smart woman."

Helen didn't say anything but followed her inside the villa.

The layout of the villa hadn't changed, and even the dining table was still set with the lilies

she used to love.

Mick was sitting on the couch, deeply focused on a history book. He didn't seem to notice that two more people had entered the living room.

Helen spoke up reluctantly. "Mr. Wilcher, Mrs. Wilcher has returned."

Mick merely grunted in response but didn't take his eyes off the book. Nydia didn't want to waste time. "Could you please open the study door? I need to take my books."

When she had left the house before, it wasn't because she forgot to take her precious book. It was just that Mick had started locking the study, and she had no access to it.

That day, when she waited at home for Mick, the study was locked with a passcode, and she could only leave with regret.

Mick finally lowered the book slightly and assessed her. Her expression seemed agitated, but her complexion looked much better than before.

And after all these years of knowing each other, this was the first time Nydia spoke so firmly in this villa. It was almost like seeing a new side of her. He had always thought of her as a gentle, docile woman.

"Since you're back, there's no point in causing more drama. Go change your clothes. I'll take you out to meet some friends."

Nydia was annoyed, feeling as if she had been played. "Mick, you know exactly why I'm here!"

He nodded. "Whatever the reason is, it's fine. But since you're back, I don't want to dwell on the past."

His words felt like flames, igniting a fierce anger inside her.

"That's it, Mick. We've already filed for divorce. I'm here just to collect my things."

Mick seemed indifferent. "Your things? Those worthless books? Technically, they're joint property, and if we divorce, you're entitled to half. Do you want it?"

Nydia's anger was almost boiling over. She wanted to lash out at him.

However, Mick continued, seemingly unaware of her frustration. "If you want an apology, I can give you one. I'm sorry. Is that good enough for you?"

He believed he had shown enough sincerity. Nydia should be satisfied with that.

Then, with an almost condescending tone, he spoke again. "You always complained about me not taking you out or publicly acknowledging you, so you caused trouble time after time. I've had enough. This time, I'll introduce you to my friends, and after that, you better be obedient. I don't have time to pamper you.

He turned to Helen. "Helen, go clean the bedroom and have the stylists come over.

Helen hesitated, then quickly went to make the arrangements.

The living room was left with just the two of them. "Nydia, when you meet my friends, if they

understand?" make fun of you, just bear with it. Don't embarrass me,
