Chapter My Troubles 30
Chapter 30
Perfect!
"You must be hungry too, Mick. I had the chef prepare your favorite dishes. Come and try
them out."
Mick replied with a hum and seemed utterly uninterested, but he responded to Mona's words. "The drama I recently signe
you for your help."
on feels like a great stepping stone for my career. I have to thank
He had secured the lead role in the drama for her through a favor.
"As long as you like it." He didn't seem to care at all.
Mona tentatively asked, "The director wants to invite you to dinner. Do you have time?"
A sudden wave of irritation crossed Mick's face. When Nydia had been around, he hadn't had to think whether he had time. He'd just tell her that he wouldn't be home tonight, and that was the end of it. But now...
He glanced at Ted, who was sitting on the hospital bed and happily gobbling all his junk food. Then, he replied, "I'll see how things go."
He'd contacted Nydia. Who knew when she'd show up?
"You didn't sleep well last night, did you? Why don't you head back and get some rest?"
"No need." He wanted to leave, but Ted wouldn't cooperate with the caregiver and
occasionally threw tantrums.
Even if he left, he'd probably get called back.
"Alas. It's my fault that the drama came at the wrong time. Otherwise, I could spend more time with you both."
Mona sighed and carefully observed Mick's face before she continued, "I think Nydia must regret her decision. If you'd soften up and give her the chance to reverse her mistakes, she'd surely come back." Mick froze. Her words seemed to strike a nerve as a sense of humiliation swelled within him. His anger was all over his face.
"Soften up? Ha, does she even deserve it?"
Mona silently rejoiced. Even with Ted being so difficult, Mick had no intention of letting Nydia return. It seemed divorce was inevitable. Chapter 30
"Don't get upset. Nydia is probably trying to get your attention. Maybe she'll not show up once the cooling-off period is over."
H
"Hmph. Even if she doesn't show up, I'll make sure she does. Divorce is not a joke, and she'd better not regret it since she brought it up!" "That might actually hurt her feelings, Mick."
"Everyone has to pay for their actions. This is a consequence she has to bear." Mick scowled.
Mona breathed a sigh of relief. Divorce was just a matter of time now.
"The food's getting cold. Eat while it's still warm," she said. Only then did he reluctantly eat at few bites.
After their meal, Mona spent time playing games with Ted. Shortly after, Gia came in to report on urgent work, so Mona had to leave.
But just as she left, a delivery arrived with a thermal food jar.
"This is for Ted Wilcher," the delivery guy said as he glanced at his slip. "May I ask who Mr. Ted Wilcher is?"
Mick frowned but raised his hand to take it. "Give it to me."
The delivery guy got him to sign the slip and handed him the jar. Then, he left to continue with the other deliveries.
Mick opened the jar and found a meticulously prepared nutritious meal. He could tell who'd made it just by looking at it and without having to taste it.
Nydia was just as predictable. If she'd softened up during their phone call earlier, he might have let the matter slide.
However, she was regretting it and was using home-cooked food to win them over,
Ha. She should just dream about it.
He set the jar aside and asked, "Ted, would you like to try the food your mom made?"
Ted was full from eating the drumstick. He couldn't eat another bite even if he had the most savory meals right before him.
He shook his head and shouted, "No! I never want to eat her food again. I want Ms. Poole to bring me meals."
That way, he could have fried chicken and burgers every day.
