Revenge is best served cold

Chapter 113 The Ever-Persistent Jeremiah

Hearing my voice, Eric and Levi turned around. The cold expressions on their faces instantly softened into smiles.

"You're awake."

Eric walked over and handed me a cup of coffee, his voice warm and gentle. On the other hand, Levi headed straight for the kitchen. A moment later, breakfast was placed neatly on the table.

"You two just sat here all morning?" I couldn't help but ask, remembering the awkward scene from earlier. "Yeah. I have nothing to talk about with him." Levi nodded, shooting a disdainful glance at Eric.

Eric smirked. "Same here."

I sighed and looked up at the ceiling. These two never had a peaceful day.

After breakfast, Eric was picked up by his driver while Levi and I stayed behind to finalize some details for the studio. It wasn't until the afternoon that we wrapped up and decided to visit the studio for an on-site check.

Since I always kept my phone on silent while working, I hadn't checked it until now.

The moment I picked it up, I noticed multiple missed calls from Jeremiah. I didn't even have to think about why he called.

He must have heard from Elsa that I "bullied" her again and was now here to stand up for her.

I figured that since I missed the calls, I could just ignore them. It wasn't anything important anyway.

But just as I opened the door, I was met with Jeremiah's impatient glare. The sight of him instantly ruined my mood.

"What do you want?" I asked flatly, stepping back to put some distance between us.

I glanced behind him. "Huh? Elsa didn't tag along today?"

Jeremiah's expression darkened immediately. "Watch your mouth! Isn't Elsa supposed to be your sister? If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be wasting my time looking after her."

I scoffed. "But we're already getting divorced. Why are you still so concerned about her? Don't tell me... you've started seeing her as your real sister?"

I widened my eyes in mock surprise, my tone dripping with sarcasm.

Jeremiah's expression darkened, and he knew he couldn't win this argument. Instead of responding, he switched the topic. "You've thrown your tantrums and played your games. When are you finally going to stop?"

I met his gaze with confusion. "You still think I'm just acting out? Are you seriously this clueless? If you hadn't interfered last time, we'd already be divorced."

I reminded him, hoping he would stop indulging in delusions.

I expected him to get angry and storm off, but instead, he let out a long sigh and looked at me with an intensity that sent a chill down my spine. "You loved me so much before. There's no way your feelings changed overnight."

My chest tightened for a split second. He wasn't wrong. I had once loved him deeply, and feelings like that didn't just disappear overnight.

But what he didn't know was how many years I had spent suffering in silence, hoping for a change that never

came.

"Don't flatter yourself. If you know me so well, then you should know that I never look back."

Just as the words left my mouth, Levi stepped outside, looking confused. "What's going on?"

He had left something inside and returned to grab it. Otherwise, Jeremiah would have seen Levi and me walking out together.

The moment Levi saw Jeremiah, he immediately frowned. "Why do I see you harassing Jane every few days? Don't you have anything better to do?"

Jeremiah scoffed. "Legally, I'm still her husband. What I do with her is none of your business."

He shot Levi a disdainful look before turning back to me. "I can forgive all your nonsense these past few months. But only if you come home with me—now."

Before I could react, he grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me away.
