Return of the Crowned Heiress

Chapter Return of the Crowned Heiress 69

Chapter 69

Kayla would be the lady of the Lawsons if Felicia didn’t exist. Similarly, the next heir of the Walshes would have gone to Noah’s family.

Kayla and Talia decided to join forces with the same goal in mind,

Talia asked, “It seems like you already have an idea. Tell me, what’s your plan.”

“It’s simple; just make her disappear,” Kayla replied with a sweet smile, though her words were chilling.

“I remembered that there’s a type of poison in Grandpa’s pharmacy that’s colorless, tasteless, and lethal upon contact with blood. Talia, find a way to get that for me, and I’ll handle the rest.”

Talis hesitated briefly before she chuckled. “Kayla, you know that Grandpa never lets anyone into his pharmacy and library.

“I wouldn’t even know what that poison looks like, but I can create an opportunity for you to go in and search for it yourself.”

Kayla cursed. Talia only wanted the benefits and refused to lift a finger.

She retorted, “Talia, I can’t do everything myself, can I? If that’s the case, why would I even need your help?

Cooperation meant shared risk. None of them could bear the consequences alone if anything went wrong. Talia turned and glanced at a slender figure not far away, working hard at washing her clothes. She smiled and said, “Kayla, don’t worry. I won’t have you do it all. I’ll find you some help. You don’t have to go, and I won’t have to either. She can do it.

Even if thi

if things went south, they wouldn’t be affected in the slightest.

Kayla froze briefly and soon realized who Talia was referring to. “Roberta?”

Talia hummed in response.

Kayla pressed, “But will she do what she’s told to? What if she refuses and spills everything?”

“She won’t. She’s my lowly follower, and she does whatever I tell her to. Or else…” Talia laughed hard. Pride was written all over her face.

“She’s that lowly woman’s daughter, and she’s just as despicable.”

Kayla detected something from her words. “Talia, do you have something on Roberta that forces her to listen to you?

“Yes, want to see it? I’ll send you a copy.” Talia laughed with such delight as though she wanted the whole world to know how pleased she was.

A 30second video was sent to Kayla’s phone, whose eyes widened the moment she saw it. “This…”

Talia chuckled smugly. The full video is two hours lang. I just clipped a small part. Now, do you believe that I’m sincere in working with you?”

Kayla laughed along with her. “If that’s the case, here’s to a successful partnership”

After hanging up, Talia swaggered to where Roberta was.

Roberta was washing clothes under the scorching sun, including Talia’s silk robe and wool coats, which were especially heavy when soaked.

She was struggling to wring out the water when she looked up and saw Talia’s dark, menacing face. It made her jump, and her grip loosened.

The heavy coat she was drying spun open and splattered water all over Talla’s dress.

Talia smacked her across the face and scolded, “You wench! You did that on purpose, didn’t you!”

“No, no, I didn’t! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,” Roberta stammered and tried to wipe the water off Talia’s dress, but it got worse the more she wiped.

Talia annoyedly kicked her aside.

Roberta lowered her head and trembled in fear.

Instead of pinching or smacking her like she usually did, Talia bent over and asked, “Roberta, how’s your mother doing in the sanatorium? Do you want to see her?”

Roberta’s head shot up with tears brimming in her eyes. She dropped to her knees and banged her head igainst the ground in desperation. “Mrs. Walsh, I’ll behave. I swear I will,

Don’t hurt my mother, please…. I beg you.
