Chapter 467
Chapter 467
Fortunately, the sound of the approaching ship had already alerted the patrolling guards, and someone soon discovered her.
One of them found a wedding invitation on her, and they immediately took her to the Strauss residence.
Upon hearing the news, Cleef rushed out to check and summoned Amos to treat her injuries.
Amos was the best doctor on Phoenix Island, but after examining the woman, he kept shaking his head and sighing.
"Dr. Lorence, please, you must save her. I will reward you handsomely," Cleef pleaded desperately. He had sent out only one wedding invitation, so this woman was likely his friend's orphaned daughter.
"Mr. Strauss, it's not that I don't want to save her, but her injuries are too severe. Plus, she's been in this condition for too long. She's at death's door, and I'm afraid it's beyond my ability to help," Amos explained.
"Dr. Lorence, please. Try something, anything," Cleef begged.
"I will do my best, but don't get your hopes up," Amos said.
With his exceptional skills, he used a combination of medicine, acupuncture, and herbal baths, eventually pulling the woman back from the brink of death.
However, she remained unconscious. Amos estimated there was a high chance she would remain in a vegetative state, with slim chances of ever waking up. Her lifespan was also uncertain.
Early the next morning, Sebastian woke up as the sky was just starting to lighten. Despite the long night, his robust physique made him feel refreshed after a short sleep.
"Get up!" Sebastian ordered, pulling Clara out of bed. She was very unhappy, having been tormented for so long the previous night.
She felt exhausted, and it felt like she had just gone to bed.
Clara wanted to lie back down and sleep, but Sebastian's cold gaze made her snap awake. She quickly got up to dress.
"Figure out a way to get rid of him," Sebastian said, pointing to Theo.
It seemed Theo had died from his severe injuries.
"Why should I deal with your mess?" Clara asked angrily.
"If it weren't for your collusion with him, none of this would have happened. You don't have to handle it, but if the Claude family finds out, you know the consequences," Sebastian reminded her.
Clara was furious, but she realized she had no choice but to accept his threat. If the Claude family found out, it wouldn't just be Sebastian they would come after. The entire Strauss family would be implicated.
Hence, she called a few trusted housekeepers to secretly dispose of Theo's body in the sea.
The Claude family soon noticed Theo's disappearance and began searching for him, but their efforts were in vain.
Cleef approached Sebastian again. "Seamus, it seems you and Clara are getting along well. I noticed her attitude towards you has changed significantly."
"It's going alright," Sebastian replied with a nod.
"I told you already. With your abilities, conquering her would be easy. You must work harder. I'm looking forward to having a grandson next year," Cleef said jokingly.
Sebastian was speechless, but he was rather surprised by Cleef's humor.
"By the way, in a few days, we have the annual competition for the medicinal plant farm ownership among the three major families of Phoenix Island. Each family will send three participants, and I've reserved one spot for you. "Don't let me down now," Cleef said.
"Rest assured, Dad, I won't disappoint you," Sebastian replied confidently.
He had resolved that since he couldn't regain his memory for the time being, he would settle down and live here for now.
However, Clara bore a grudge and secretly sought out Hugo. He was the eldest son of the Lorence family, and she wanted his help to help her kill Sebastian.
