Xavier POV
"Make a sound and we kill her."

The words reverberated inside my mind, even as I struggled to lose the fog that surrounded my mind and attempted to move my limbs that refused to cooperate with me. Whatever we had been dosed with, it was highly effective. I could see the frustration on Xander's face as he too struggled to move, our eyes darting frantically towards the exit where Heather Ramona and Alpha Kai had taken our mate with them. I let out a low growl, only to hear the sound of footsteps running, and then felt a large body tackle me to the ground. I had an instinctive feeling that I knew who it was and couldn't help but turn my head to look at them indignantly.
"Oomph" I groaned, putting a hand to my head and glaring at an unrepentant Alpha Nikolas who merely shrugged at me with a wide grin on his face. "That hurt" I groused, even as I looked at my moving limbs and inwardly rejoiced.
I could move my limbs freely again. Nikolas smirked. "You're welcome," he said rolling his eyes and getting back to his feet.
I watched with a small sense of satisfaction as he proceeded to tackle a disgruntled-looking Xander to the ground. He hit the floor with a heavy thud and I winced before I helped my brother up as Nikolas grimaced and climbed back to his feet, dusting his trousers off and looking around with a look of apology on his face. I knew who he was looking for and while part of me was upset that he had lost Regan, part of me also knew that he was not entirely to blame. We had all failed my mate. All of us would bear the blame.
"Where is Luna Regan?" he asked in concern, "I lost sight of her in the crowd" he eyed us both suspiciously. "Given the situation you were both in, am I to understand that she's in danger as well?"
It was blatantly written all over our faces for him to see as he nodded, looking angry with himself.
"Damn right" I snarled, motioning for him to follow us, my eyes blazing with rage "that bitch Heather took her and so did that bastard Alpha Kai."
Alpha Nikolas rushed to catch up with me as I headed towards the front of the hotel, my footsteps loud and heavy. "What are you going to do? You know as well as I do that nothing will be done if you were to make a complaint here. You're basically on your own. How are you planning on tracking your mate down?" he asked curiously.
I couldn't help the small grin that covered my face. Anticipating hat there might be some sort of danger, we had gifted Regan the gold bangle earlier without divulging what it contained. I had thought it was better than alerting her to the possibility that we were expecting trouble. It had mainly been Xander's suggestion, but I had never been more grateful for listening to him than I was right now. If it wasn't for him...I sucked in a breath. God knows what would happen to our mate without a means to track her. Xander was brilliant for coming up with this. I would never have thought of such a thing. Thank god one of us was capable of thinking with our mind instead of our...
"We're going to track her," I said with gritted teeth as we exited outside the hotel, Nikolas creasing a brow as he glanced between me and Xander, Xander already bringing up his smart watch and the coordinates of Regan's current location.
I prayed she wasn't too far away, glancing toward the sky and trying to work out just how much time had passed while we had been stuck in those ridiculous positions.
"You put a tracker on your mate?" Alpha Nikolas sounds both disapproving and awed at the same time.
"We couldn't afford to take chances. Her safety was paramount and..." I paused and looked at an equally grim-looking Xavier, "neither of us have believed that either Isabelle or Heather were going to stay away from Regan and leave her alone. This was the only way we could guarantee we could know her location at all times."

I didn't mention that I also didn't trust certain Alphas at this particular summit not to hit on her or worse. It would sound slightly overprotective, and I was sure that even Nikolas would not agree with our method if that had been the primary reason for it.
"Smart" Alpha Nikolas commented as we began to climb into the limousine, Xander calmly taking the driver's seat and motioning for the driver to get into the passenger side. "How do you know they won't remove the jewelry?" he asked with
concern.
"We don't" Xander answered as he began to expertly maneuver the limousine into the traffic, his eyes constantly darting towards his watch, "but we're going by the assumption that Heather isn't going to see Regan's bangle as anything but an ornamental piece of jewelry. It looks harmless, so Heather should see it as harmless" he answered nonchalantly, but I could see him gritting his teeth.
He was worried about Regan and so was I. Alpha Kai and Heather Ramona had a big head start on us. Who knew what Regan was enduring as we spoke? My wolf was still going berserk and it was taking a huge effort to control him. I had no idea how Xander was managing to keep his wolf so calm. He looked so composed, I thought studying him as he drove and yet, I knew that he was practically dripping with rage beneath the surface.
"Good thing I'm coming with you," Alpha Nikolas said, leaning back in his chair and studying the window expression on his face. "This could turn into a messy fight." with a cool
"We appreciate your help," I told him, turning my head while Xander shot our friend a look in the rearview mirror, not able to look over his shoulder while he drove "but we also understand if you wish to take a step back and not involve yourself. This is our fight after all and nothing to do with you. You shouldn't put yourself or your pack at risk by aligning yourself with us. We can drop you off back at your pack if you want" I offered, but our friend looked offended by the very idea.
There was no way that Alpha Nikolas was about to miss out on something as exciting as this. I could already see the determination on his face.
"What? Drop me off and have me miss all the fun" he said dramatically, causing Xander to give a wry grin in the driver seat while I rolled my eyes at his over-the-top exclamations. "Heavens no. I quite fancy seeing Alpha Kai finally get what's coming to him, the old pervert" he announced, folding his arms across his chest and observing us with a rueful smile, "And" as for your mate" he said with a low whistle "I'm no gentleman if I leave a lady in distress without helping her am I?"
"You just want somebody to beat up" Xander commented dryly, turning left in a hurry, causing other cars to beep at us from behind in anger as he cut them off without a care.
He ignored the angry shouts from the other cars as did I. Nikolas grinned. "Well, I won't say no to a good fight," he said "but honestly do want to help your Luna. As for this direction" he turned around and stared at the scenery that was passing us by, a frown on his face "it isn't the way towards Alpha Kai's pack," he said gravely, "which means they are planning on taking Regan somewhere else. I wonder where they are going and who else might be helping them. Perhaps this Isabelle girl is also there?" he suggested. both delusional bitches."
"I'm counting on it" I snarled. "She and her mother are bors
The two of them were going down for this.
"Remember that she's carrying my unborn child" Xander reminds me as I sigh, and Nikolas stiffens. "You can't kill her."
"Then you take care of her" I warned him, my voice shaking slightly with raw emotion, "because I'm not holding back Xander, not this time. She might be carrying your baby but if she's helping her mother hold our mate hostage, then I won't be able to hold my wolf back. Not this time." I couldn't offer fake platitudes to him or fake promises. He had to know the score, straight up. At least I was being honest. His eyes met mine and I saw him clench his jaw in realization before he began to drive a little faster, Alpha Nikolas 15:28 Thu, Jan 30 W

tightened his lips and wisely decided not to say anything further as we attempted to catch up to Heather and her despicable
mate.
