I fucked up, again. Regan's pissed at me and so is Xavier. I glare down at the desk, wondering how I have managed to get this stupid. My father walks in, shaking his head at me. "Son, sometimes I wonder how I managed to give birth to such a moron," he said as I glowered at him.
Thanks, Father, I appreciate you not holding back on your sentiments, I thought moodily.
"Thanks, that's really helpful" I snarled out of sorts and not willing to admit that he might be right.
I was an idiot.
"Look on the bright side. The summit is in a week and all of the Alpha's of the various packs are going to be meeting there. You'll be able to enquire about Heather and Isabelle and gain some information about them. I'm sending you, Xavier, and Regan to represent our pack this year instead of me" he said smugly.
"But you always attend the summit," I said dumbly "You've always liked to."
He was particular about how our pack was represented and worried about how we would come across to other packs. He was infinitely picky about it.
"This year, I think you and Xavier deserve to. After everything..." he trailed off and shook his head "you're practically in charge now anyway. I'm simply offering you both a helping hand."
He sounded nonchalant about the whole thing, even though I know how hard this must be for him.
I tried not to look too excited. I had never been to the summit before, but I knew it was a prestige event that only Alphas and Lunas attended with Betas and their Gammas if they required it. It was said to be pure luxury and no expense was spared. My body was practically vibrating with excitement as my father gave a chuckle.
"I can see that you're excited" he teased, "no doubt so will your brother and Regan."
"Have you told them yet?" I asked, glancing at the doorway and tensing, ready to run out and give them the good news.
My father laughed out loud. "I was going to give you the privilege. Somehow I think that might cheer you up" he added with satisfaction.
He was right. I had cheered up at the prospect of representing the pack and attending something so vitally important as the yearly summit. For a moment all thoughts of my child and Isabelle were pushed aside. I leaped to my feet and quickly reached for my father's hand, vehemently shaking it as his eyes glinted with humor.
"We won't let you down," I said thickly "I promise. We'll represent our pack, and we'll do you proud." I pronised.
It was the least we could do for his trust in us. We wouldn't abuse that trust.
"Just be yourselves" my father advised, his tone suspiciously thick "I'm already proud of the two of you and how far you have come" he added. "You've come such a long way since you were little and it's been a privilege to raise you."
He was on the verge of tears. I recognized this and instantly bowed my head in respect, before turning and rushing out the door. My father didn't like to show weakness in front of us. Even though I thought that it showed how strong he was to be able to express his emotions like that. I sighed and then began to take the stairs two at a time. I banged loudly on the bedroom door, Xavier opening it with a fierce scowl on his face, that didn't dissipate as he saw me. He and Regan were still 13:20 Sat, Jan 25G.

angry with me, I surmised, and I didn't blame them. I seemed to have a penchant for screwing things up between my mate and me, unlike Xavier.
"I know you're still mad," I said holding both of my hands up in surrender as I sidled slowly inside, Regan standing up from where she had been sitting on the bed. "But just listen for a minute," I said, my eyes pleading with the two of them.
Xavier narrowed his eyes at me, still looking angry. "This had better be good Xander. You're in enough hot water as it is" he warned.
I quickly nodded. He was acting as though I was about to make things worse, but with my past behavior, I guessed that wasn't exactly incorrect. He was protecting Regan. I couldn't fault him for that..
Regan however was more accommodating. "What is it Xander?" she asked, pushing hair out of her eyes tiredly and regarding me quietly.
Gods she was beautiful. Even angry she looked amazing. When she grew bigger with our pup, she would look stunning, I thought, swallowing hard past the lump in my throat. I glanced down at her stomach, but it was early days still and it was still its regular size, but I knew it would change as it began to get more swollen. I felt my chest tighten in response. "Hello, Xander?" Xavier quipped, scowling fiercely at me. "You had something to tell us?" he prompted with a growl.
He had an impatient expression on his face. He also looked on the verge of throwing me out the door, despite it being closed.
I blinked, coming back to my senses, and cleared my throat. Regan smiled in spite of herself. She seemed to be in good spirits, I noted with a small smile.
"You'll never guess what Father just told me," I said with excitement.
Xavier frowned and then his eyes began to brighten as he considered the implications of what I had just said. "They found Isabelle and Heather" his eyes began to darken with thoughts of vengeance and Regan began to nod, looking even happier.
I shook my head and the light died from both of their eyes. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking" I hastily apologized as Xavier literally let out an irritated growl at me.
"What is it then?" Regan sighed, sounding exasperated.
I felt bad for getting their hopes up. I should have been more careful at how I worded things, I thought guiltily. I bowed my head, feeling ashamed. "It's about the summit" I muttered, deflating a little.
I had ruined something again. Damnit.
"Oh, that thing" Xavier sounded dismissive as he gestured at me with a roll of his eyes. "Father goes every year, what's so special about it?" he asked incredulously.
"That's just it," I said, my tone rising higher, "Father isn't going this year" I crowed.
Xavier sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "If this is because he's still feeling guilty Lswear..." he began sounding
furious.
"Xavier" I interrupted, unable to help myself as he paused and scowled at me, "he's not going because we are!" I exclaimed.
Silence. For a moment Xavier struggled to digest my words. He breathed in deeply, a look of wonderment on his face. The summit was a huge deal. Even Regan looked shocked by the new 13:20 Sat, Jan 25 OG.
Chapter 103
"You mean, he wants us to go?" Xavier confirmed, looking at me in disbelief. "But..."

"But nothing. He just told me. He wants us to represent the pack and we're taking Regan" I glanced at our mate whose eyes were beginning to sparkle. "Think about it. We can ask about Heather and Isabelle while we're there. It's the perfect opportunity to get information about them. We won't get another chance like this one. It's supposed to be the height of luxury" I said, my eyes glazing over as I tried to imagine it in my mind.
"Who cares" Xavier said smugly. "We get to show off our luna. That's all I care about."
Regan blushed profusely, but she was smiling as Xavier took her in his arms and kissed her on the cheek. I felt jealous. I hadn't kissed her in ages, but after making her so angry, I didn't dare to. Regan sensed my eyes on her and turned her head, her eyes on me. To my surprise, she moved towards me and then put her cheek to my lips, allowing me to kiss her.
"I might be angry at you," she said softly, cupping my cheek "but we're still mates, and I still love you. I want us to be a family" she added, putting her hand on her stomach as I swallowed hard, wondering what I had done to deserve such a mate "and I want you to feel part of that family" she finished, looking into my eyes.
I swept her into my arms, feeling whole again, my lips pressed against hers as Xavier smiled slowly to himself in the background. I was an idiot, but my mate had forgiven me. Now all I had to do was make sure I didn't upset her again. I vowed to be more careful from now on. I had earned her forgiveness, for now, but she wouldn't continue to forgive me if I kept messing up like I did.
