Rejected By My Mate

Chapter 63

Azrael's POV

Days passed by so fast, and I mostly spent my days in the training room with the other students. Master Leon trained our fighting skills on how to fight the demons and goblins. I always get out of the training room full of wounds. But all my training is worth it because my fighting skills are getting better and better. I don't have to transform into my full wolf's form all the time because I learned how to fight using a double sword and other weapons. But in this era, swords are useful to slay the goblins. Master Leon taught me how to use my angel power, especially my healing abilities.

Today, Master Leon allowed us to go with him to the Northern City to see the situation there. Each of us was riding a horse, and I noticed that there's no goblin around as we passed by some mountains. From up here, I could see high walls from a distance, but I couldn't see what's outside those walls. Do the walls protect the Northern Magic Realm from demons and goblins? I also see houses below the walls and an enormous castle made of gold at the top. My forehead creased as I realized something. Those houses in the Northern City are not ordinary houses for normal beings. As we got nearer and nearer to the city, my suspicion grew bigger as I looked up into the big door of each house.

“Master Leon, what—" I trailed off when someone got out of the big door. My eyes widened and my mouth hung in awe. G-Giant?

“LEON KOSTAS! IT'S NICE TO HAVE YOU HERE! I HAVE A LETTER FOR YOU!"

I covered my ears when the giant spoke. He got a big mouth there. I thought I lost my hearing. I saw Crusette and the others chuckling at my reaction. Master Leon greeted the giant and reached for the letter that the giant handed over to him.

“That's Gilmore, a messenger in the City. He's the one bringing the letters to Central City in Southern Magic Realm.” Crusette said.

I looked at Master Leon, who was still talking to the giant. And my eyes fixated on the letter in his hand. Does the Ballentine Family notice my letter?

“If he is a messenger, does that mean he encounters some demons and goblins on the way?” I asked.

“Nope. Gilmore is more advanced, he invented an invisible airship. That's why he can travel back and forth everywhere in the magic realm.” Amara said.

“I thought passenger trains are the only transportation allowed in this world?" I asked with a creased forehead.

"Yes, that's true. But since Gilmore is a messenger, the King and Queen of this land granted him permission to travel using the invisible airship.” Ethan said.

An idea popped up in my brain. I couldn't wait to ask Gilmore for help. I moved the horse towards Master Leon and he handed me the letter. As my hand reached the letter, a loud explosion echoed throughout the city. We all gasped and turned to where the sound was. The bright sky suddenly turned to dark.

"DEMONS AND GOBLINS ARE HERE! THEY ARE ATTACKING THE WALLS!"

The horses squeal and spin uncontrollably at the loud explosion in panic. I almost rolled over when the horses tried to flee, but Master Leon used his magic to calm the horses.

“Let's go!” Master Leon said, and we headed towards the commotion.

Because of the demon'’s attacks, the protection barriers around the entire Northern Magic Realm are now visible. Demons and goblins keep trying to break the barriers. Demons use their dark powers to attack the protection barriers while goblins use fire explosions to attack the protection walls. Meanwhile, giants already prepared for counterattack, their fire explosions are much bigger than the goblins used.

"FIRE!" The giants charged their attacks towards the goblins. Other warrior giants ready their weapons and armored suits for battle. I guess they're prepared.

“GOBLINS! YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" A giant shouted and threw a dagger towards the goblins.

When the giants saw Master Leon, they let us go near the gate to see the situation outside. There are other giants who fought the demons and goblins outside the walls. But I never thought that goblins are scary. It wasn't the same goblins I saw in the movie. These goblins are more aggressive, and they looked like a hungry beast. If their goal is to slay, they'll go slay. A group of goblins killed one giant, and they ate him. I wanted to throw up at the sight. A goblin looked at me with a grin, and I just saw its eyes turn to a darker shade of red. The demons possessed these goblins. That's why it's odd when a goblin fights so fearless. As far as I know, goblins are also cowardly creatures.

I stopped my horse in shock when all the giants outside the walls fell down while screaming in pain, and that's when I noticed a demon controlling the mind of the giants. Then all the goblins jumped on the giants and ate its flesh hungrily while all the demons laughed.

As my gaze turned to my group, they were all clenching their fist while glaring daggers at the demons and goblins.

"Master! Let us fight!” Abraham said while gritting his teeth. Master Leon looked at us and said, “Are you ready to fight them and get killed like the other giants?”

Abraham said nothing back and clenched his fist. The girls are crying while looking at the giants. “Don’t look,” I said to Crusette and the other girls. They looked at me with tears stained on their faces.

"Can't we do something?” Amara mumbled while clenching her fist.

“Listen, I didn't bring you all here just to fight because you aren't ready yet, just like those giants outside. Being impulsive will lead you to your death. In this battle, you need more knowledge about your enemy, of how they fight. Study their techniques and find their weakness if you don't want to get killed when you encounter them in the future.” Master Leon said. Even if everyone wanted to help, no one dare to go outside because everyone knew their capabilities. They will end up like those giants if they acted right away.

“No, master. We're ready.” Lindsay said seriously while looking at the enemy outside the walls. Master Leon cleared his throat and said, “Lindsay, I can tell that you're ready and brave enough to fight those monsters, but bravery doesn't always measure one’s capability to fight. In battle, you need to use your brain and learn new tactics in order to win. I've been out the walls for the past months spying the demons and goblins, to learn how they move and prepare their attacks. What you've seen now is just a warmup because they haven't started yet. You'll see later what I meant and just watch closely to the goblins.” If they haven't started yet, what are these goblins still able to do? I believe in Master Leon's words. I looked at the goblins and observed their moves.

3 months ago, I had slain a lot of beasts in the war, but I never encountered goblins. All my life, I never saw one, and this is the first time I saw them. These creatures are scary as they enjoy eating flesh of humans and giants. As far as I observe, demons controlled the mind of the goblins that's why they aren't afraid and more aggressive.

"BATCH 5 CHARGE!" the superior of the giant ordered, and ten members of the giant warrior made their way outside.

"Wait!" I shouted to stop them while waving my hands up in the air for them to notice me because I am so small. All the giants stopped walking and looked at me with judgment while I moved the horse towards the giant warriors. I heard my group calling my name to stop me, but I ignored them because I didn't hear Master Leon's voice.

"Who are you, tiny young man? What do you want?” the giant superior asked in a loud voice. It almost broke my eardrums, but I suppressed myself to groan.

I cleared my throat and spoke with a serious expression, the same expression whenever I face my pack members before. “Don't let them go! You all know how dangerous it was outside!” they all looked at me like I had grown two heads and laughed out loud.

"BWAHAHAHA! WHO ARE YOU TO STOP US?! WE NEED TO SLAY THOSE CREATURES WHO RUINED THE MAGIC REALM AND THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR KILLING MY WARRIORS! AND BEFORE THEY TAKE OVER OUR LAND!" the giant superior said while pointing his hands to the demons and goblins outside the walls.

“But you don't have to act impulsive this time if you want to win this battle! Think first or else you'll get eaten with those hungry monsters like the others outside these walls!” I said.

"YOUNG MAN! WHO ARE YOU TO MEDDLE WITH MY DECISION! GET OUT OF OUR WA—" Everyone gasped when the ground shook continuously, and when I looked outside the gate, I couldn't believe what I saw. The goblins who ate the giant's flesh just transformed into giant goblins. Just what the heck is happening?

"AZRAEL!" Crusette and the others shouted my name, and my eyes widened when all the giant warriors ran towards the gate. My horse squealed, and I almost fell down on the ground, but I quickly transformed into my angel form then flew upward.

Woah, that was close!

Master Leon waved his hand and motioned at the top of the high walls. I looked up and noticed a demon with black wings trying to break the protection barriers.

I flew upward in a swift motion and after a few minutes I landed at the top of the walls. My gaze instantly met the demon's bloodshot eyes.

The demon stopped attacking the barriers and looked at me deadly. “Angel!”

As I looked behind him, there were a lot of demons flying in this direction. They are really planning to attack the Northern City. The giants seemed like prepared, maybe they knew this day would happen. Below these walls, some small goblins climbed up and other giant goblins smashing the walls forcefully with their big hammer—a metal mallet.

The giant force already attacks the other giant goblins below. “THE PROTECTION BARRIERS ARE GETTING WEAKER! EVERYONE PREPARE TO FIGHT THE DEMONS!" The giant superior yelled and everyone screamed.

The demon in front of me grinned and continued to attack the barriers. Other demons stop and line up, forming a huge dark ball in their hands. Shit! I have to get out of here! They're going to break the barriers. My forehead creased when something lights up in the sky from afar, but it quickly dissipates. It's like something falls from above. Before the demons released their attacks, I flew downward towards my group. I landed on the ground safely and walked towards them.

“They're going to break the barriers, we should be ready,” I said, and everyone gulped.

“This is it. We're going to fight.” Martha let out nervously.

“Master, we need your approval,” Crusette said.

Master Leon looked up and then turned his gaze to the gate. “Fight the demons and don't get killed.” he said, and we all looked at each other while nodding our head.

I looked around and noticed that all the giants were ready to fight. “Master Leon, I saw something falling from the sky at the distance and I don't know what that is.” I said.

“Falling from the sky?" he blurted out and thought about it.

“Let's go help the giants!” Liam uttered, and we all nodded.

We all waited for the demons to take charge but suddenly, lightning was striking everywhere outside and screams echoed so aloud. What was happening?

I flew upwards to see what happened to the demons.

"AZRAEL!" I heard the group calling my name, but I was curious to what happened to the demons outside the barriers, so I continued flying above.

I stopped dead in the air, dumbfounded at the scene in front of me. Demons are now inside a huge light ball, slowly dissipating into dust. My gaze fixated on the two girls in front of the demons. Their auras are very familiar, I think I know them. I couldn't see their faces because their backs were on me. Who are they?

When I averted my gaze below, the goblins who were climbing earlier at the walls disappeared. And I saw three girls fighting the giant goblins, and in just a snap, all goblins turned to dust. Their auras are really familiar. Who are they?

Suddenly, the dark sky disappeared and I almost blinded by the sunlight. As I adjusted my sight, the two girls faced me and it stunned me to see their face. Is this real?

"W-Who are you?” I blurted out.

They stared at me and then went closer towards me. I felt like crying right now; I don’t know, but I have a strong feeling about this.

"Woah! It's you!” they said while smiling.

"Azrael! What are you doing here?!” asked the girl with white long hair and forest green eyes. I stared at her face and at her white wings like mine. Are they an angel too?

"What a surprise!” blurted out the girl with long, glowing golden-white hair and bright ocean blue eyes.

In just a blink of my eyes, the two girls became five. All have the same face but different hair color and eyes. My eyes fixated on the two girls with silvery red eyes and black eyes. “D-Damona? D- Demonise?” I blurted out, stuttering.

“Yah! It's unfair! You remember Damdam and Demdem! But not us!” the girl with ocean blue eyes whined. W-Wait, don't tell me...

My heart pounding in excitement as I looked at each one of them. “Xandra? Willow? Val? Damona? Demonise?” I let out while staring at them in awe. I can't believe my eyes. Was I dreaming? "Wahhhh! Azrael! We miss you!” Val let out and jumped on me. I didn't expect it, so we fell down the walls.

But where's Alex?

When we landed on the ground, Val was still hugging me. I chuckled and released the hug, but she clung to me like a gecko. I vanished my wings and looked at the other sisters landing beside us with a smile.

"Wahhhh the Sextuplet!” I heard Crusette and Amara’s voice. The five sisters looked around us and all the giants bowed at the five sisters while thanking them for their help and welcoming them back. All the giants sighed in relief because they thought that the protection barriers would break. As far as I remember, the sextuplet is the one who put the protection barriers before, and now they're also the one protecting them from demons and goblins.

My group looked at me with jealousy, especially Crusette who was pouting at me.

"Azrael, how come you're here?” Demonise asked with a creased forehead.

“It's a long story. But I was looking for my grandparents.” I replied.

“Your grandparents?”

"Yes. But where's Alex?” I asked, looking around the place. Maybe Alex was hiding somewhere. But why can't I feel our bond?

The five sisters looked at each other and communicated through their stares. Why are they frowning?

"Where's Alex? I mean, Alice?” I asked while my heart beat faster in nervousness.

They shook their head sadly, and my heart sank. I felt like there were a thousand knives stabbed in my heart, and the pain was too much to take. It's like I'm buried 100 feet below the ground, drowning in sorrow.

Didn't she make it back? Why?

Why??! I shook my head repeatedly in disbelief and pushed Val aside as I spread my wings.

"Azrael! Where are you going?! Wait!" they called me as I flew faster away from them. My tears blurred my vision, but I couldn't stop myself from flying. I screamed louder while calling Alex's name.

"ALEXXX! PLEASE COME BACK! PLEASE COME BACK FOR ME!" I screamed while looking up at the sky. I cried and flew faster away from the city. And I found myself at Master Leon's flower farm. I lay down and when I touched the flowers, they slowly turned to wilt. But I focused on the pain in my heart and let my tears flow down my face while I covered my wings around me. I expected Alex would come back for me. But she didn't. Why?

Please, Moon Goddess, bring Alex back... for me. I'm begging you, please...
