Chapter 270: Loyal Attendant
Astrid's
POV
I moved quickly through the dimly lit hallways, my heart thudding inside my chest with each step.
I kept close to the walls, my eyes constantly scanning for ay signs of movement.
I had to make sure that no one sees me sneaking around. The last thing I needed is for someone else to find out what happened to Killian or question why I'm sneaking outside my room in the middle of the night.
My breath came out in short, shallow bursts as I neared the Omega's quarters. Thankfully, their quarters remained the same room. So it wasn't hard to look for them.
When I finally reached the door, I knocked softly, barely a sound, but it felt like thunder in the silence of the night.
My palms were clammy, and I glanced over my shoulder again, making sure no one had followed me.
It would be suspicious if someone caught me here right now.
Finally, the door creaked open, reveailing a young Omega woman. Her eyes widened when she saw me standing there.
"Miss Astrid!" she exclaimed in surprise, her voice louder than it needed to be.
I froze, panic flaring up inside of me as I pressed a finger to my lips. "Shhh!" I hissed, glancing nervously down the hallway to see if anyone overheard.
The last thing I needed was someone coming to investigate why I was here, knocking on the Omega's door in the middle of the night.
The Omega seemed to realize her mistake and immediately dropped her voice to a whisper. "I'm sorry,
Miss Astrid! What are you doing here?" She asked, confusion still etched on her face.
It was highly unusual that I came all the way here knocking to their room at the middle of the night.
I leaned in closer, keeping my voice low and urgent. "I need to find Anya. Is she here?"
My eyes darted behind her, hoping that she could point me to who Anya is. The Omegas share one room together in their quarters. I have no idea what she looked like. I only know that she is the only person that could help me right now.
The girl blinked, surprise flickering in her eyes before she spoke again. "Miss Astrid, I'm Anya."
I froze, feeling embarrassed for not recognizing her. Relief washed over me when I finally met her, but the urgency of the situation quickly returned.
Killian is lying unconscious in my bedroom with the drugs still taking effect on his body. There's no time to waste here. We have to do something before anyone realizes that Killian is missing.
"Anya, is it okay if we talk outside?" I asked, glancing over her shoulder at the other Omegas inside the room who were now looking our way with curiosity evident in their faces. "Please I need to tell you something in private.
Anya hesitated, her eyes flickering towards the others in the room before nodding.
She stepped outside, closing the door behind her softly. We moved a few steps away from the door, where we couldn't be overheard.
"Is something wrong, Miss Astrid?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she guided me to a quiet corner of the hall.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady
myself. "Anya, I need your help. It's Killian-he's been drugged," I whispered, the words rushing out of me before I could stop them. "He's unconscious in my room, and no
one can know. If anyone findes
out-"
Ifaltered, my heart tightening as I looked into her eyes.
I grabbed her hand instinctively, my desperation clear. "I don't know what to do. I can't let anyone find out
about this," I whispered, my voice cracking with the weight of the situation.
Anya's expression shifted
immediately the concern in her eyes
deepening. She didn't ask any
questions, didn't hesitate for even a second. Instead, she nodded, her face resolute. "Show me where he
is.
I exhaled, the tension easing ever so slightly now that Anya is here to help me. We moved quickly with her following closely behind me as we retraced our steps back to through
the winding hallways.
I opened the door to my bedroom and let Anya step inside. Killian, still unconscious, lay peacefully on my
bed. I had managed to carry him there on my own, but seeing him like this was unsettling.
Anya's eyes widened when she saw him, and she knelt beside him quickly, worry clear on her face. "What kind of drug is this? Who did this to him?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she looked him over carefully.
I swallowed hard, glancing away for a moment. "Before this, he was on a date with Giselle," I muttered her name bitterly. "I think I know who's responsible."
Anya glanced up at me, understanding but saying nothing to defend her Luna. She turned her focus back to Killian, gently placing a hand on his chest to feel his breathing.
"Don't worry," she said softly, her voice steady. "He's stable. The drug will wear off soon, and he'll wake up."
Relief flooded through me, though the anxiety still sat heavily in my chest. Anya's calmness reassured me, and I knew she wouldn't let this spiral out of control.
"I'll take care of everything," she continued, standing up to face me. "No one will find out about this. I know just the right people to handle this.
"Thank you," I whispered, feeling the weight on my shoulders ease a little. "I didn't know who else to turn
to."
Anya gave me a small, comforting smile. "You did the right thing coming to me. Don't worry, I'll keep this
quiet.
I nodded, grateful for her help. "Let me know when he wakes up."
She nodded, already returning to check on Killian.
Her eyes narrowed as if she was deep in thought, but I know she's already calling someone through the Pack Link.
"Miss Astrid, can we talk?" I was about to slip out of the room, when she suddenly called me
