REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON

Chapter 113: Zeus Struggle

Zeus' POV

"The days are getting ripped, and the final war chant is overstretched, giving destiny an edge,

That was the final message I got from the underworld. I was restricted from further access to their dark power, until I find and bound Lyra.

"Of course you know the strong power and prowess imbibed in Lyra's destiny, you can't leave me all alone to bind her, "I informed the visible spirit binding earth and the beyond.

"of course, your destiny is intertwined with hers; yours being always at her mercy," The visible spirit replied.

"I opened your portal to help me in securing and accessing her powers, yet you stand here telling me bullshit about my destiny always at her mercy," I queried, my heart asserting itself again and again, thunderously beating. "You know nothing, Zeus. Your obsession with power drives you to enmity against the 'Legion' ".

The Legion, the master orchestrators of all my evil decisions, the originators of destruction themselves.

"Leave the Legion out of this," I said, in a low but firm tone, my fearful emotions betraying me.

"Hahahaha!!!" the spirit laughed.

"You know nothing, Zeus. You've been chasing shadows lately. The Legion are coming to get things done themselves," he added, his face gravely authoritative.

"I remain the only link between you all and the natural world, if I refuse to do your biddings, you all wont have any 'body' to achieve your evil agendas," I said, fostering courage to talk openly about 'The Legion.'

"You were used to kill Ryker, and to do all you've did. But you didn't know, and couldn't understand, that the more you were used, the more you were trapped, and that's why I say again, Zeus, you know nothing!!" he said this as he descended to the underworld.

I sat down, my face falling abruptly into thin lines.

How can I break free from the control of The Legion?

I understood clearly what the visible spirit was trying to explain. Binding Lyra's destiny was one thing, breaking free from The Legion was another. It was crystal clear that I was going to loose on both sides, Lyra's Destiny above mine, and The Legion in full control of my actions and future.

I needed the help of a greater evil force, I needed the Great Witch.

The only mortal that can point out her location is the mortal to set his eyes on her during her transformation, and that was Kyle.

Kyle? Where in the spirit world would I see him, let alone convince him to grant me access to his senses to get the witch.

And time was against me, for the Bell has been rung.

Kyle's POV

Sharpening my sword for the contest, I decided to practice some new tricks.

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks, they say," I muttered.

"It all falls on the owner of the dog," Edward, my guide replied, somehow understanding my muttered statement.

"Really? so tell me, what do you know about dogs? I asked him, as I raised the sword, pointing it on him, a gesture to begin practice.

"Well, one thing I surely know is that they possess a connection with wolfs, lesser wolfs so to say," he replied, lifting his sword in a practiced way, using it against mine.

"Is that so? So what makes it difficult for them...." I cut short, trying to balance my rythmic movements with his, as we clashed swords.

"....to understand new tricks?" I asked, still trying to gain steps against his. He was a well trained tutor and guide. He worked to master my movements at that moment, trying to subdue me with my own pattern.

"...because, they're dogs," he replied, charging forward, feeling confident that he had mastered my leg movements. He advanced greatly, making me quite nervous. Then I changed footsteps. I remembered the moves Lyra made once, I secretly practiced it and mastered it. So I used it against Edward, mixing it with my original fighting steps, and making sure that he found it impossible to mimic.

"Hmm, new one, I see," he said as he tactifully moved round me and attacked from behind.

"Cheat!!! That was against the conduct of free fight," I said, trying to gain balance, countering his attack simultaneously.

"In sword fight,...." he tried to gain balance as I attempted to strike him as he spoke. Somehow, he gained balance and continued;

"...there are rules. You use ever thought and impulse of intellectual strength to attack," he concluded.

"Rubbish," I countered. "There's nobility in sword fight, comradeship is key," I added.

"Only if your your opponent would believe that in battle," he replied, charging forward and with a single strike full of determination, he struck down my sword, felling it to the ground.

"You cheated!" I said, and spat on the floor, in a manner depicting royalty and noble sportsmanship.

"You let me cheat," he replied in similar tone.

"You are noble, and all your opponents in the tournament would all come from royal homes, but if you apply this strategy, you would come out victorious, only if they involuntarily let you cheat, just as you did right now." He explained. "So, you expect me to cheat, in an acceptable manner," I asked, impervious to the lessons of the experience I was having at the moment.

"It wasn't put that way, but you understand what I mean, don't you?" he asked, giving a subtle wink, and sheathed his sword.

"Hmm, but I won't need that, I'll win without it," I boasted.

"Sure you would, you'll win from the very beginning," he replied in the most sarcastic manner, making me look stupid.

"Let's go again," I said, drawing my sword the second time. He obliged, this time lifting his left hand to the air and landing it on his back.

"On this day shall you witness a noble fight, Edward," I said as I charged at him, using Lyra's footsteps solely.

"Also on this day shall you change your conviction," he said as he used his natural fighting steps, moving in circles as he charged forward.

"You'll learn," he added, increasing his pace, his left hand still behind him. I lost focus, advancing backwards at the same time to catch up with him, but he displayed a skill that I've never seen in all my training days.

He charged forward, tilted to the right and released his left hand, throwing his sword over my head at the exact time, all these happening in a split second. Successful, he used his left hand to tilt my sword away from my hand, making me to stagger to gain balance, but he wasn't done. He fixed his legs in front of me, making me fall flat on the floor.

"I cheated, didn't I?" he asked mockingly.
