Rebirth of the Wife in Despair

Chapter 94

Chapter 94 If We End Up Having A Falling Out
After the dance, Yvette accepted the coat brought by a servant and walked over to Jacqueline.
“Mom.”
Jacqueline noticed a hint of unhappiness on her daughter’s face. She patted Yvette’s hand, expressing concern. “What’s wrong?
It’s your birthday today, and you don’t seem happy. I’ve brought your favorite singer for you. Don’t be upset, my little darling.
Mom will introduce. you to some gentlemen.”
Yvette’s eyebrows furrowed again. “Can I not meet them? I want to hang out with my classmates. It’s always the same old faces
here. Every time we meet, it’s just questions upon questions. I’m getting tired of it.”
Soft music played in the hall, and Yvette spoke in a low voice, audible only to Jacqueline.
“Well, you’ll have to get used to this. Heirs and heiresses have to uphold habits appropriate to their status.”
As the hosts of the event, both mother and daughter couldn’t avoid socializing. Yvette reluctantly followed Jacqueline to meet
several business partners of the Friedman family, except for the uninvited Smith family.
“Mom, is Jasper still refusing to come?”
Jacqueline experienced a twinge of heartache, yet she managed to curve the edges of her lips.
Jasper recently assumed control of Smith Corporation; he’s quite occupied. Please avoid disturbing him, Yvette. I’ve already
extended an invitation, and when your brother finds a moment, he’ll naturally join us.”
There was a time when she could at least catch a glimpse of him in that household, but now she didn’t even have the privilege of
setting eyes on him.
Even now, he refused to acknowledge her.
Eventually, Yvette approached the man.
Jacqueline closely examined the person before her. “I heard you’re the one who rescued Yvie?”

Eric, clad in a sleek black suit, stood tall with a sturdy and well-defined physique. In contrast to his usual demeanor, today he
emitted a more subdued aura, a touch gentler. “It was a simple effort.”
Jacqueline shifted her gaze to Yvette’s side. “Yvie, haven’t you properly expressed your gratitude?” Her tone remained
composed and courteous, but it carried a subtle sense of

detachment.
Individuals with such exceptional skills were rare. If he could be enlisted for her service, preventing incidents like the one with
Yvette and ensuring her protection, Jacqueline would. feel more at ease.
Unfortunately, he worked for Will.
Individuals of his caliber were excessively unscrupulous, employing dark and cunning methods. No matter how adept he might
be, she couldn’t risk keeping him by her side.
A wolf raised by Will, even under new ownership, would forever remain untamed, a perpetual potential threat.
Will’s notorious past actions were widely recognized.
A dog that bites its owner... Will had committed such deeds on more than one occasion.
She looked down upon the Swans and bore even more distaste for him.
Yvette rolled her eyes at Eric dismissively. “I’ve already expressed my gratitude; otherwise, I wouldn’t have allowed him to come.
Hey, Mr. Snow, why did you bring her here? Where’s Eileen? I sent her an invitation. Why didn’t she come with you?”
Indeed, the Swan family, being of lower status, didn’t qualify for such events.
Inviting him had already granted him enough respect.
Eric responded without a change in expression, “She was delayed by something. She’ll bet here a bit later.”
“Oh, I see. Then give her a call to remind her. I have something good to give her.”
Eric nodded, “I will make sure to convey the message.”

Before long, Yvette intentionally led Jacqueline to a different location, leaving him stranded on the sidelines.
It was all because he had brought another female companion to irk her.
Vera, meanwhile, was entirely overlooked, not even given a passing glance.
To everyone’s surprise, Eileen actually received an invitation personally handed to her by Yvette.
Arriving at the banquet venue, Eileen was notably late.

It was almost nine o’clock when she made it, and she wasn’t certain if the event had concluded by then.
This time, the banquet took place at the Friedman family’s mansion.
Eileen presented her invitation to the welcoming staff at the entrance, and they promptly ushered her inside. “If you’re a friend of
Ms. Friedman, just follow this path. Keep walking straight, and you’ll find it at the end.”
Eileen graciously nodded. “Thank you.”
The welcoming staff couldn’t help but keep their gaze on Eileen. They had never encountered such a stunning young lady
before, pondering which family she hailed from and why she hadn’t attended earlier.
Adorned in a coat to ward off the cold, Eileen lifted her skirt as she followed the indicated
direction.
Meanwhile, since Yvette had exchanged pleasantries with the guests in the main hall, she swiftly escaped to the pool party in the
backyard.
This was her territory.
The majority of attendees were her classmates and a few close friends.
Sinking into a chair, Yvette felt thoroughly fatigued. She sprawled there, reluctant to move at all. “I’m so tired... I really don’t
understand why those lecherous old men bother with greetings. If it weren’t for my mom, I wouldn’t even bother.”

“Why else? Isn’t it because you’re the brilliant heiress, the future owner of the family fortune?” A guy in a flashy floral shirt sitting
beside her chimed in, and it was none other than
Charlie.
Yvette, grappling with a headache, exclaimed, “I’ve said it before, why not just let Jasper handle all these properties, the
company... everything! Depending on Jasper is better than being a big shot like me and ending up as drained as my mom,
right?”
Charlie remarked, “This is the first time I’ve heard someone complain about having too much money.”
Grabbing a glass of champagne from the side, Yvette took a sip and surveyed the surroundings. “Hey, did you see her?”
Charlie asked, “See who?”
Yvette wondered, “Eileen! What if she didn’t show up?”

Charlie widened his eyes. “You invited her? Seriously, are you crazy? You actually invited her? All right, this marks the end of our
friendship.”
Frowning, Yvette playfully hit Charlie. I’m telling you, I won’t mind your affairs with Eileen anymore. If you dare speak ill of her in
front of me in the future, don’t blame me if we end up having a falling out.”
Charlie responded. “Do you know what kind of person Ms. Friedman is? Why would you befriend her? Do you have so few
friends?”
“Why does it matter to you? I like her...”
Just then, a servant hurried over and whispered something in Yvette’s ear. Yvette’s expression instantly changed, becoming
tense and nervous. “Is it true? I need to go there right away!”
“But Mr. Jasper and Mrs. Friedman have already gone into the study for what seems to be a business discussion. It might take
some time.”

“No problem, I’ll wait.”
As Yvette hurried away, Charlie called after her, “Where are you rushing off to? Is there an emergency?”
Albert, dressed in a Blake suit, approached gracefully with a subtle smile. “Stop staring; she’s already gone.”
Charlie stubbornly replied, “Who’s staring? It’s not like she’s a sight for sore eyes.”
Adjusting himself to a more relaxed position, he continued, “By the way, where’s Elm? Isn’t he showing up for his sister’s
birthday?”
Albert shrugged. “He arrived early, but who knows where he disappeared to.”
Charlie teased, “That playboy probably slipped away somewhere for a secret rendezvous with another woman!”
Eileen found herself lost in the woods, and the more she walked, the more disoriented she became. The surroundings grew
darker, making it challenging to see the path beneath her feet.
Suddenly, a stone came from behind, and with her slim three-inch high heels, Eileen stepped on it at just the wrong angle. She
let out a scream and slipped into the bushes.
A figure appeared, slightly leaning forward, emitting a low, hearty, and somewhat mocking laughter. “Idiot...”
