Kallan, once again in his father’s office, accompanied by his mother:

This day couldn’t be any worse.

After hearing my mother’s explanation I had stormed my way outside, to find out what my father was doing to her. I didn’t want to believe what she had said to me, for Jade to be the true Princess, but I needed to find some proof of it, to relieve my own thoughts about it.

When I reached the side door of the castle, there where I had carried Jade through, I was held back by my father’s guards. They summoned their wings and aggressively told me to stand back, and that I wasn’t allowed to go outside to see her.

Well, tough day for them to be loyal to their King!

I summoned my wings, let the dark take over my skin, summoned some energy to fill my chest with and flew right in between them, against the thick wooden door and barged right through, leaving me to fly up a few feet outside, to relieve myself of some wood chips that were stuck against my hardened skin and in my hair.

Once I landed, the other guards that were standing around the golden globe, turned around and pointed their glaives towards me.

“Kallan! You are no longer allowed to come near her!” My father said as he stood behind the line of guards, anger overruling his earlier sentimental vibe from when we were in his office.

“The hell I am!” I shouted and walked forward, ignoring the stances that the guards had taken towards me. “I don’t believe her to be my cousin! I will protect her and care for her at all cost!” I continued which angered my father even more.

Even if she turned out to be my cousin, she still is the rightful Queen of our lands and I’m going to be loyal to her in every possible way. She has to be the one to take upon the throne, she has to be the one that might be able to lift the curse that is upon our lands by getting rid of the rift. There will be no single person that can try to stop me from saving her.

“YOU WILL NOT DEFY MY COMMAND!” He roared as he lifted himself above the guards, using his massive black wings.

I did the same, as I wasn’t going to back down to a fight with him. I’m strong too, my wings are near to about his size and I’m younger and physically in equal strength to him!

“She might be able to open the rift!” I yelled to my father.

“Even if she could, I will not let that happen! The Aether Fae won’t accept us to live here then! They will just invade our territory with all their might and destroy us all!”

“They can get here now too! So, what are you talking about!?”

“Son, you don’t understand! Back down now, or I will let you feel my power, boy!” He roared and let his fingers fill up with energy.

I did the same and created a ball of a massive amount of energy, comparing it to his and made it as large as possible. His ball kept growing, so I grew mine as well. He started to sweat, urging his body to unleash more energy to oversize my ball. But even though it was getting harder for me to enlarge it, I didn’t have the same trouble as my father did. He was getting really old but didn’t want to show it to anyone.

Eventually, my ball was the largest of the two by just a small amount of energy, but even so, my father believed to be the stronger one of us both. So, he unleashed his orb and send it towards me, soaring through the sky at a speed that was unheard of.

I couldn’t believe that he was trying to hurt or even kill me with his energy! I’m his oldest son, for crying out loud! So in my anger and frustration, I wanted to shoot my ball towards him, but as his orb was on its way to me I didn’t have a clear shot. So, I did something different with all the pent up energy instead, thinking out of the box, just as Jade has done with her energy; I pushed the orb towards my chest, letting my body soak up all the energy that was inside it, making my black and hard skin sizzle with electricity.

I hoped that this sudden act of defence was enough to hold back the power that was coming my way, so I braced myself for impact and pushed my hands forward to catch my father’s ball and letting it collapse against my chest in a guided manner.

My wings were fluttering violently as soon as the orb crushed itself against my torso, trying to keep the pushback as short as possible. My chest was bursting with the energy stored within, empowering my obsidian skin with the strength I never thought to have, shielding me from the burning power that was now pushed against it. I pushed my feet backwards as if I was still standing on the ground, slipping them through the pebbles instead of the rush of air that I now felt as I was hovering in the air.

I pushed everything I got inside of me, out and up, to guide the ball over my head and let it crash into whatever that is behind me. And so it did. It crashed right through one of the highest turrets of the palace, blowing off the small roof above it and blasting off its heavy stones in every direction. Some of them tumbled down the bigger roof or landed on the ground next to the palace walls.

I hoped that no one had gotten hurt by the stones but I couldn’t spend a lot of time thinking about it now. There will be time later for a damage report.

My breathing was laboured and my energy is gone. I looked up towards my father, noticing that he was just the same. I let myself float upon the air, descending myself to the ground, following my father as he did the same.

“Comparing dicks? Right at the palace? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!” My mother scolded me and slapped me on the head.

“And you! ONYXIAN, King of the Fae! SERIOUSLY? You fucking dared to attack MY son?!” She yelled as she strode her way to him, summoning up her energy and letting her fiery-red wings be summoned at which right after she shot a small fireball towards my father’s head.

It wasn’t enough to truly hurt him, as she didn’t want that, but still, it was a clear warning from her to him, to never dare to attack me again. She even cursed her anger towards him! His cheek was now scorched and his eyebrow was burning and he cursed as he swatted his face to get rid of the fire, while my mother ferociously hit him on his back and head as well.

He lifted his arms in defence but she kept on hitting him while he wasn’t able to do one single thing towards her, knowing that she had been right and for him to love her dearly he didn’t dare touching her in a bad way.

Though eventually, he got tired of her rant and squeezed her against him with his arms. “Woman, cool down now!” He scolded her at which she finally relented and lowered her arms in defeat.

If this were any different situation and I hadn’t been on the receiving end of his anger, I would have laughed at the comical show that they were both lovingly showing. But I was still angry at him and couldn’t even bring it up to smile or chuckle, maybe later, but not now. Because right at this moment there were still plenty of questions to be asked and a lot of plenty of things to be angry about.

Jade, in some sort of dream-state, still lying in the centre of her golden bubble:

I don’t know how long I had been here, captured inside my own body, not being able to move or speak.

The pain that I was constantly feeling was torturing me in an endless loop, as the energy that was being forced inside my core was not something that I could have imagined ever to feel. It was as if you had eaten your belly full, but was still forced to eat more. As if a plastic funnel was pushed down my throat and someone kept on feeding me with liquid food while I was being restrained in shackles.

There was nothing I could have done to have prevented this from happening, and after a few hours of deep mental struggles, I had just succumbed to it. I had already figured out myself that this energy was probably coming from Kyalthemar and was just now able to connect to me as I had entered the portal. I had lived my life on Earth and there wasn’t this much power to feel, ever, so I guess my absence from here had forced my body to adjust to the littlest amount of it. I was just not used to it, as it did with normal Fae.

But all this time I could hear all the voices because no one dared to think that I could have been able to read minds. I haven’t been through the right ritual for it, I haven’t had the experience or even the energy to do so, so why guess about it even, right? Well, I could read minds and I have done it too. Which isn’t something that I’m happy with, right now.

I have heard Kallan’s parents think about me, guessing that I might be someone that I can’t believe to be; I’ve heard Kallan think about me in a way that I couldn’t imagine to be possible, he cared for me in such a deep manner that I’m not sure what do with it; but the most profound thoughts that I have heard were those of someone I don’t know…

They were voices that sounded further away, but still, they were pointed directly to me, as if that person knew who I was. But I have never heard that kind of voice before, let alone this far away and half incoherently as the pain I was suffering from, was dulling my mind to hear it.

The voices were kind though, urging me to stand up, to leave my bubble and gain back my right to live. My right to live… I hadn’t even understood that sentence. I’m a person, I have been born and living, so why shouldn’t I have the right to live?

But besides all the confusion, I had felt a rise of energy just now and I managed to use it to wake up from my mentally-aware-slumber. Letting the bubble rush back into my body again, confining the energy in their newfound rightful place and stretching out my limbs as they were sore from not moving for all this time.

The pain from the force of energy subsided softly and I encouraged my eyelids to open up.

But once I did, I had wished to have been asleep a little longer, as a dozen pointy, ancient weapons were directed towards me. The guards stepped a few feet inwards, as they had probably been waiting for me to wake up from my sleep, surrounding the bubble I had created around me.

“JADE!” Kallan’s voice interrupted the looks from the guards, pushed them aside and dove right next to me, digging his knees in the dirt. He picked me up, just like he had done when he took me outside before I had gotten shielded, and I just let him. I was still too tired to argue or fight against him, and he was only caring for me, nothing more.

“Kallan, don’t you dare to-

“Oh, shut up! He knows about her, he won’t do a thing!” The now-familiar voices from Kallan’s parents interrupted each other, where the woman was scolding her King.

Kallan didn’t bother himself to talk back to them and I wondered why he didn’t. He didn’t seem to have an awkward relationship with his parents earlier, as he had contacted his father with the blue orb at the Tibetan Conclave, so had they been in a fight? That must have been the energy surge I have felt the moment I had freed myself from the bubble!

Great, now I not only have embarrassed myself, by creating a bubble around me but also had been the point of discussion between a father and a son.

“You are back with me now, Jade. I will protect you.” He said.

But even though it sounded like he truly cared about me, there was something different from the last time he had spoken to me. His voice was void of the same emotion he had shown me earlier and I was wondering why it was. Where was the loving care he had let through? Had I done anything wrong?

No, I can’t think like that. I never have cared for what people thought about me, so I wasn’t going to start now either! I’m just being held by a man that is gorgeously good looking and even though he was sweaty, it didn’t bother me at all… in fact, I might even like it… Oh… shoot!

No! I’m not going to let myself get distracted by a man again. The last time I did, a bunch of monks had been killed over it and I couldn’t afford to show anything like that to anyone, ever again.

“Put her on the bed, I’ll help her.” I heard Trixie say before I fell into a dreamless sleep, luckily without pain.
