Chapter The Broken Sky
The skies above Avadey glowed red and black as the smoke rose into the air, a mix of ash and snow rained down on the city streets as Arranthian rained down his vengeance upon Abyssia. Roars echoed for miles around as people fled from the city, the dragons and wyverns left those fleeing alone.
In the dark pit of Abysial Academy, Ember stood with her Celestial Fists at the ready.
"Stand back, I'll deal with her" Atlas said as he summoned his Celestial Katana. He charged at Ember, who deflected his strike with one hand and punched his arm with her other, Atlas went rolling back toward a wall.
"Jeez, where'd you get that power?!" Atlas grunted, as he got to his feet, Ember went to strike again while he was weak, but Amanda shot at Ember wish her Celestial hand cannons, which were attached to her wrist. She knocked Ember off balance, which gave Atlas time to strike, he managed to cut her right hand off.
Ember roared in pain as her eyes turned red, a surge of power knocked the group back, as darkness began to overwhelm Ember.
"Get out of here! I'll deal with her!" Seb shouted.
"But..." Atlas gasped.
"Do it! Save Roisin, stop Lumina and Abyssia... I'll see you all again" Seb uttered. Everyone nodded and quickly ascended the stairs. Seb prepared to fight.
Ember was overwhelmed by darkness, huge black wings sprouted from her back, and she grew to 7ft tall. Horns grew from her head and she roared. Seb gulped.
She shot laser rays from her eyes to the balconies above, damaging them heavily. Seb roared and grabbed a piece of metal debris, he ran toward Ember and sliced at her leg, she roared and went to grab him, but was knocked to the floor by a huge wyvern. The wyvern turned to Ember and breathed fire at her, she stumbled back but punched the wyvern with her red fists, the wyvern flew to the wall and collapsed.
Ember turned back to face Seb, but he was gone, she was about to fire her searing lasers when suddenly she felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck.
"H... how?!" Ember screeched.
"I learned from the best..." Seb frowned, as he pulled his sword from the back of Ember's neck, she collapsed to the floor, as her wings faded away. With the last of her strength, she looked at Seb, who was now stood before her.
"You can't stop the Harbingers. They will stop at nothing to control us... you have to submit..." Ember croaked.
"I'll never submit. This is our world." Seb replied, Ember frowned then passed away.
Sounds of fire and roars filled the air, debris began to fall down into Abysial Academy. Seb sighed and looked up.
The rest of the group had finally reached the top floor, bodies of students and dragons littered the floors, part of the roof had collapsed forming a ramp. Everyone ran up and reached the city. Black smoke plumed into the air.
"Dear gods..." Atlas uttered as he scanned the sheer destruction that had been wrought upon the city.
"The vengeance of dragons" Syl sighed.
Arranthian flew overhead, breathing a long row of cold breath, which extinguished the flames leading to the city exit.
"Go, heroes! Stop Abyssia, and..." Arranthian began, as he landed nearby. "If I may ask a favour" He lowered his head. "I understand if you must kill Lumina, her soul is broken, but... maybe, part of her still exists beneath." He continued. "Before you kill her, try and reach that part of her" He finished.
"I can't promise anything, but we will try" Syl bowed his head.
"Thank you, human, that is all I ask" He smiled slightly, before taking off.
"A talking dragon?" Atlas shrugged.
"Long story" Syl chuckled. The party ran toward the exit of the city, the buildings that had been full of people earlier that day now laid burnt out.
Back at Abysial Academy, Seb slowly climbed out of the Academy, as he got to the outside, he looked back down to see the Academy begin to collapse in on itself, the balconies that circled around all collapsed down into the deep dark pit, the walls began to buckle from pressure and the earth surrounding the pit began to bury the Academy, and the Dark Crystal.
Seb fell to his knees, remember the time he spent there, how Ember had took the time to teach him to master the powers of darkness. The friends he had made there. Now forever entombed in a dark grave in a burnt out shell of a city. They deserved better.
"Abyssia" Seb growled.
Abyssia was in the throne room, she yelled in mourning of her city, finally feeling the pain that Lumina had felt all those years back. She smashed her hand down on the throne, shattering it.
Suddenly a blue hologram appeared in the centre of the room. It was Araneia, calling from the palace of the Imperium.
"Abyssia, I hear Sebastien was sighted in the attack on Avadey?" Araneia asked.
"Yes, what of it?" Abyssia growled.
"Sebastien has also been sighted at Pyre Academy, and has been there for a few months now" Araneia responded.
Abyssia snapped out of her rage and walked closer to the hologram.
"Lumina?" Abyssia asked.
"It would seem so, do you want me to engage?" Araneia asked.
"No, remain where you are. I will see to this personally" Abyssia nodded.
"As you wish, my friend" Araneia nodded, and closed the hologram. Abyssia left the throne room and headed to the airship bay. As she walked in, she saw her new pride and joy, The Black Vulture. A sleek, top of the line new model of airship, the fastest ever made, equipped with top of the line weapons, and a shard of the Steel Crystal in its core, allowing Crystalliam attacks.
Abyssia boarded the airship and set a course for Pyre Academy.
