Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring novel (Naomi)

Chapter 287

The moment the call went through, Naomi heard a crack from the other side. It was the sound of someone cracking open a walnut, which was quickly followed by a munching sound. Then, Amelia's voice finally rang out, "Why are you still awake?"

Naomi could not help chuckling when she heard this. Amelia was munching on nuts like a hamster. "What are you eating?"

"Oh, just some walnuts. I went out for a walk after dinner because I was too full, and stumbled upon a stall selling them, so I bought some."

Naomi grinned. "You're already full and yet you can still stomach walnuts?"

"Well, taking that walk helped my food go down, so in the end I had more room for walnuts. It was perfect!" Amelia did not stop eating for even a minute, so all Naomi could hear was munching between her sentences.

It was a rather rare occurrence. For the first time ever, Amelia spoke to Naomi on the phone while eating instead of working!

Naomi glanced out the window. "Is there something you needed to talk to me about?"

It was getting late, and she needed to get to bed soon. She still had work the next morning.

"Oh, nothing much. I just wanted to ask you how you and Charles are coming along. Anything interesting happened this afternoon?"

Naomi was not surprised. She and Amelia had conversed earlier that day, and she had mentioned Charles' surprise visit to Herland. It was understandable for Amelia to be curious as to how it turned out. "We're good."

"Good? How so?"

A rather sheepish smile spread across Naomi's face. She had a feeling that Amelia was interrogating her because she had finished all her work somehow and had nothing better to fill her time with. "Amelia, it's already 11 p.m."

"What? So early? Did I miraculously finish all my work before midnight today?" Amelia was shocked to hear this.

Naomi smiled and replied, "Yes, you did. You finished all your work before midnight. It's a miracle! Meanwhile, I haven't even showered even though it's already eleven."

"Huh, that's weird. Why are you up so late?" Before Naomi could even reply, however, Amelia added, "Is it because you've been spending the entire day with Charles? Come on, spill the tea. Do you feel closer to him now? Are the lovebirds singing?

"Come on, Naomi. He came all the way to Herland just to see you. I'd think you're a monster if you say you're not even a tiny bit touched by that."

Naomi really wanted to end the conversation, for one, because she did not feel like answering Amelia's question and secondly, because she wanted to shower and get ready for bed. At this rate, she would only be able to go to bed at 11:30 pm. earliest.

To Naomi, it was a very late bedtime.

However, she still patiently replied to Amelia, "Yes, he's very thoughtful, just as he always is."

To Naomi, Charles was still the same person she knew. He was just as kind and thoughtful as he was when she first met him three years ago.

Amelia's expression darkened. "What do you mean, just as he always is? That's impossible! Clearly he's been putting more effort into being kind and considerate to you, but you just didn't notice it! You've always been dense about these things, Naomi."

Amelia leaned back against her chair

and gazed up at the ceiling with a perturbed look. "Good God, what can we do about our dear Naomi? She's so slow if this were anyone else, they would've been so touched and gotten together with Charles by now! It's already been three months and there's still no progress. Poor Charles! I pity you!"

Naomi clutched her forehead in exasperation. She did not know how to react to this. Amelia was right. Although she and Charles had been in this 'talking' stage for three months, she still argued that they did not spend much time together.

ne?

Charles had his own career and Naomi hers. Therefore, they did not

spend every waking hour of every day together. To her, it was not enough time to get to know someone.
