Purchased A Mr. Right

Chapter 1298

Anthea was isolated, but Amelie felt very happy, thinking that Anthea, with an exaggerated opinion of her abilities, finally got what she deserved.

Amelie handed the handkerchief to the old lady and said, "My dear godmother, I think the military doctors are right!"

The lady looked at these well-experienced military doctors and then at the young Anthea. In a short time, she made the decision. "No, I don't agree with her! I cannot risk my husband's life!"

Anthea fell into silence.

Her knuckles whitened as she clenched her fingers.

In the eyes of this storm, Anthea felt that in her humble position, her word did not carry much weight.

As a doctor, her mission was to cure patients and save people. Very occasionally, there would be someone question her medical skills, which was no big deal. But now, in the face of distrust and criticism from all the others, she still felt very sad.

Seeing that the old lady made her choice, a military doctor said, "Little girl, go back to your private hospital! We don't need you here anymore!"

"Young people these days are too impetuous and irresponsible!"

"I think it's time for the medical community to reestablish rules and regulations. Thus, only doctors with real abilities can be the director of a department!" Everyone thought she made the treatment decision with indecent haste, regardless of the old chief's safety, so their words were somewhat harsh and mean.

Anthea pursed her lips and said nothing.

However, a chill still struck to her heart.

"Creak-"

At this time, the door of the ward was gently pushed open.

Adam, who had entered the ward without anyone noticing, stepped out with his military boots and closed the ward door behind him.

He stood there, tall and robust, and said in a deep voice, "The old chief has agreed to have the operation."

Everyone was stunned.

Obviously, during their animate debate, Adam went into the ward and persuaded the old chief.

Anthea looked at him blankly.

Her eyes met his dep-set eyes. He was looking at her with certainty and belief.

When no one believed her, he had so much confidence in her! Her cold heart suddenly felt a surge of warmth.

Adam, like a burning brazier in the winter, drove away all the coldness from her.

Anthea, deeply touched, felt like crying.

The old lady widened her eyes in shock. Amelie, who was supporting her, gritted her teeth in hatred.

Especially when she saw them looking at each other silently, she was overcome by a sudden surge of jealousy. Although his wife went into the ward to persuade him, the old chief still insisted on having the surgical operation.

Since the patient himself agreed, the other's opinion did no longer matter.

The military doctors all sighed and shook their heads, feeling worried about the operation.

"Miss Lee, I suggest you give up on this operation!" Amelie, while supporting the old lady, stepped forward and spoke up, "My godfather is old. So experienced military doctors in the hospital suggest that we give him a conservative treatment, but only you insist on carrying out the surgical treatment!"

"Miss Celestin, I'm a doctor!" Anthea reminded her.

A cold glint flashed in her eyes as she looked at Anthea and said contemptuously. "This isn't an ordinary hospital. The person lying in the ward is not an ordinary patient either. He's an old chief who has made countless contributions to the country all his life!"

"Miss Lee, I know you are a doctor, but I can't believe in your ability!

"You can't use the case of my godfather to practice your skill and accumulate experience! His life is of utmost importance. If anything happens to him, how can you take the responsibility?"

Each sentence said by Amelie had some hidden meaning.

Undoubtedly, she was reminding her godmother that it was Anthea who insisted on carrying out the operation regardless of the others' objection.

Every day the old lady was in a state of anxiety because of her husband's illness. Though she had a mild nature, she glared at Anthea with a resentful look after hearing Amelie's provoking words.

If one had to choose between living healthier after a highly risky operation and living longer with an illness, most people would choose the latter.

The old lady wanted her husband to accompany her for a little longer. The most critical thing was that she did not believe in Anthea's ability like other military doctors. She felt that Anthea was so young that she might not give mature consideration to this. Therefore, she was not willing to let her handle her husband's illness!

Amelie provoked and embarrassed her in public. Though Anthea knew she did it for malicious purposes, she had no intention of flinching. "I can take the responsibility!"

She was a doctor with the ability to save people, and she always took her patients seriously.

In addition, Anthea was very confident in her medical skills.

It was true that she was not as mature and experienced as other military doctors. But she had been following Vincent to practice in hospitals and take part in rescue missions in disaster areas all over the country since freshman year.

She persisted with the surgical operation because she had encountered a similar case when she was abroad.

Anthea looked at the old chief's wife. "Madam, pleasetrust me!"

But with Amelie at her side criticizing Anthea, how could she have any good impression on her? The old lady, thinking that she put her husband's life at risk, warned Anthea angrily, "If anything bad happens to him, I won't forgive you!"

Anthea said nothing more and just told the doctors next to her to prepare for the surgery.

A mocking smile appeared at the corner of Amelie's mouth.

Her beautiful eyes were full of contempt and cruelty because she did not believe in Anthea's ability at all.

Six years ago, when Anthea was a medicine student, Amelie saw her afford the first-aid to a boy at a banquet. Nevertheless, she just took some first-aid measures. It only showed that she was very smart.

Now that six years had passed, she became a doctor, so what? So many military doctors with superb medical skills did not dare to perform surgery on the chief, but she insisted on doing it. Wasn't she showing off her ability?

Amelie was waiting to see her head for her doom!

The old chief had been in hospital for a week, and his physical condition was poor. Thus, Anthea decided to perform the surgery at three o'clock in the afternoon.

Anthea, who had changed into a green surgical suit, walked to the operating room with two assistants.

Before she entered, she looked to the right.

Adam was there, wearing a starched military

uniform. He was tall and strong with broad shoulders and a very graceful bearing.

Looking into his pair of deep-set eyes, Anthea clenched her hands with determination and felt more secure as if she had received some power from him. After taking a deep breath, she walked into the operation room with great confidence.

Then the door of the operating room closed.

Everyone else was waiting outside in the corridor.

The surgery took a long time.

The old chief's wife had been pacing back and forth at the door worriedly. After all, she had little confidence in Anthea.

She was extremely worried that her husband would die on the operating table!

In the army, the old chief had a high opinion of Adam. Therefore, to please Adam, Amelie had been very attentive to the old chief's wife and succeeded in making the old lady her godmother. Amelie tried her best and seized every chance to show her tenderness and capabilities.

The old lady was very touched to see her being so busy. She said, "Amelie, thank you for your hard work. You've been so busy in the hospital these days!" "Godmother, don't say that. It is what I should do!" Amelie gently shook her head, appearing to be very well-behaved and tender.

She looked up, her eyes involuntarily following the tall and strong figure before her.
