Chapter 66. Whispers of Past
*Khalith*
Her hand fit perfectly. Hers in mine, mine in hers. It was the most amazing, complete feeling. I’m sure we can feel even more complete eventually. I can’t wait for that day. She stayed in my lap, and simply allowed me to hold her, “Tell me whatever you need to, whatever you can. Zeus can’t stop Adalith, no matter how much he may want to.” Realization came over her features.
“So you’re saying Adalith put this bond together, and it’s not Zeus or Choas trying to control things? I was always told that if I ever felt a bond, it would be a lie for me. I would ruin it and harm the person I was bonded to. I was always told that I would be alone, and no one would truly care for me.” Her eyes were filled with tears at this point. “They never touched me, like they did others, they knew they couldn’t, so I guess they chose a different method to break me.”
I closed my eyes to think Why would they want to break such an amazing creature? She is a strong warrior, capable of training gods and goddesses in combat, even the most docile ones. My Auntie being one of them. “Alke, you are chosen by Adalith, as, apparently, am I. We have nothing to fear from the gods and godesses that want to rule this existance. There are so many pieces at play that they are about to screw themselves into nothingness. We will prevail. We will be the ones that end up okay. I promise you.”
I mustered every bit of conviction I had to make sure the words came across bold and encouraging. She smiled at me softly. “Thousands upon thousands of years I have on you, but you’re wiser than I. Not sure how that happened. So you’re sure you don’t mind an old lady as a partner?”
“You realize at some point, we forget how old we are and it ceases to be a thing, right?” I laughed a bit and tickled her sides which elicited the most amazing sounds I had ever heard. Her giggle was beyond musical to my ears. This must have been the weirdest sight. A winged warrior goddess being tickled by the equivalent of child, but I didn’t care. She is mine, I am hers. Nothing can top today. Finally get my my family, and now I get to expand on my family.
A knock came at the door and Alke sighed, “Elena, I know it’s you, come in.” A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. I have to assume her and mom had a bit of a special bond themselves. Mom walked in, surprisingly by herself.
“You know, wishing we were sisters does not come true if you become my past life daughter in law.” Mom was giggling like a school girl. In turn my love burst out in giggles as well. I looked between them, confused but happy they were kindred spirits. “Khalith, you best treat this lady right. She’s dear to me and I don’t need any more awkwardness. Stacie and Eliza are more than enough to handle!” Her eyes were twinkling as she spoke. “But also seeing as part of your soul came from me, I’m sure you’ll do the right thing as best you can, always.”
Her immediate belief in me gave me hope. That belief was grounded in a belief of herself. Something she was going to need as time continued on. This was going to be a crazy ride and she was going to need all she could get. “You know me, already, Mom. I can tell.” I looked down at her hand, seeing the book. Tanz came in with another book, followed by another pixie that had four flutes for champagne and another with two bottles.
“I think today is a cause for celebration, and having you by my side as I go through all of this, would be helpful. If that is okay.” She looked to my lady, “Especially if that is okay with you. I mean…You did just discover your bond… and I seem to be one of the very few that hasn’t.. Uhm… well.. Yanno at first sight of a mate.” Mom’s cheeks blushed horribly.
“Are you saying you’re still a virgin in this life, mom?” I asked without embarrassment. Her embarrassment grew, though.
“I uhm..” she started stuttering. But this was mom. I knew she wouldn’t do anything until she was married and knew nothing could take him away from her.
“Mom, you realize how long I’ve lived?” She raised an eyebrow at me, “I’m still a virgin. I’m a demigod that refused every woman that threw themselves at me, and every man. Don’t be embarrassed about wishing to only give pieces of your soul to the other half of your soul.” I smiled softly.
“I am never going to get used to this. I have a son, though I’m a virgin, and he’s way older than me, and some how, so much wiser.” She sighed trying to let the embarrassment dissipate from her cheeks. “So, Alke, would you share this journey with me?”
“Are we sisters from another mister?” Alke asked my mom. My stomach turned, that idea popping in my head and I groaned, not realizing it was not an internal groan, but a very loud external groan. Dad entered the room just as I groaned and he laughed.
“Who did what for how many cookies to elicit that groan?” He asked. I shook my head and shivered.
“Ever wanted your love to ask your mom if they were sisters from another mister? And then have that image in your head? Yea, well, I just went through that. So if you’ll excuse me, can we not? You are not sisters, because that would make this incest, and I’m not Zeus, mmk?” I couldn’t help the involuntary shiver that overtook my entire body.
Both the women laughed loudly and happily, dad looked at me like I grew three additional heads, and sighed. “Now, to the task at hand, apparently, these journals were mine.” Mom started to explain the journals for the other two. I didn’t need the explanation.
I watched her pour her heart and life into these journals time and time again through the different realms and lessons. She was incredibly meticulous. She always told me she would have to be if in the life that lal this mattered, she wouldn’t remember anything of the past. So the least she could do is contain all the memories and lessons to be learned again through the books and spells. She was ingenious. She was also the only soul that could open the journals. No one, no matter how hard they tried, were able to.
‘The lives and travels of Elentari Tirisil’ was scrawled across the cover of the first one. “I only need to touch them.” Mom explained after Alke asked her why the seal wasn’t broken. I smiled.
“Break the seal, mom.” I told her. She looked at me funny. “I promise, break the seal.” She looked as if she was doubious but did it any way. No sooner than the seal was broken than the book flipped open on its own, and went to her first most important memory after her day with dad.
The day of my birth played out like a movie infront of us all. Mom leaned into Dad, as his eyes were glued the the memory that played from the book like a hologram. Tears were running down his face. “I felt it that day… But I didn’t know what it was, now I know.”
He kissed mom and pulled me into them for a hug. It was weird, but I welcomed the affection. This was perfection. Once they let me go, I pulled Alke into my arms. She giggled a bit, “Well, I never thought I’d witness the birth of the other half of my soul.” Yep, this was perfection.
