Chapter 14: You Don’t Have to Be a Lobbyist
“Little Noah!”
“Ms. Downey!”
With the huge noise created by the chandelier crashing to the ground, the people watching this scene at the door were letting out
shrieks after shrieks.
At the same time, in the middle of the living room, immeasurable shards of the chandelier were scattered on top of the original
mess on the floor, and Hayden was covering the little boy with her one hand and her other hand was weighed down by the heavy
chandelier. That part of her hand was mushed and bloodied, and she was in so much pain that she lost her consciousness in the
end.
Earlier on, when everyone was frozen because of the imminent fear, Hayden simply rushed towards the little boy without even
thinking about the potential dangers. She only wanted to protect him from any harm.
The whole place was in a mess, and before she lost her consciousness, Hayden thought she had heard the little boy mutter
something.
It sounded like “mummy”.
The whole place was a pandemonium at the moment.
“Fast, call an ambulance now. We need to send Ms. Downey to the hospital.”
“Little Noah doesn’t want to let go of Ms. Downey’s shirt. What should we do?”
“Bring the both of them away. Who could take care of him if he were to stay behind? Are you going to bear the responsibility if
something were to happen?”
“Alright, alright. Call Mr. Beckham now.”
“...”
In a high-class private club in Nanking...
Joseph had just done signing a contract and his assistant was sending away his negotiation partner. While he was waiting for his
assistant to finish his task, he sipped some tea alone in a suite.
This was part of his daily routine.
“Joseph.”
A sweet voice sounded and Joseph looked in the direction of the voice with his brows imperceptibly furrowed.
A tall beauty swept aside the curtains dangling above the entrance to the suite and walked in with a pleasantly surprised look on
her face.
“It’s really you. I was coincidentally done with my sponsorship negotiations in another suite, and Jason happened to see your
assistant sending someone away. That was when I wondered whether you are also here.”
Joseph only mumbled a vague response upon hearing her words.
“I just saw your grandpa two days ago.” Viola Kidman sat down opposite him while carefully studied his expression. Upon seeing
that he didn’t produce any unusual response to the word “your grandpa”, she continued, “Your Grandpa said that you have been
raising Noah on your own all these years and there must be occasions where you couldn’t really take good care of him with your
busy schedule. He is also worried that the maids wouldn’t be able to tend to Noah’s every needs, so he is of the opinion that you
should consider sending Noah back to his side.”
When he heard this, Joseph’s expression turned a shade darker, “Sending him back sounds even more dangerous than keeping
him by my side, you know. You don’t need to be a lobbyist.”
“I am not here to persuade you. I am just passing on the words. This is your grandpa’s will.”
Viola smiled and continued explaining slowly, “Actually, your grandpa also said that he hope that you could find someone who
can take good care of Noah all the time. That way, you also don’t need to worry about him whenever you’re out.”
Joseph didn’t provide any opinion about this, but all of a sudden, his assistant came barging in.
“Mr. Beckham...”
His assistant froze for a moment when he saw that Viola was there with him.
“What’s wrong?” Joseph asked.
“Ah,” His assistant broke free of his reverie and continued nervously “The hotel just called and informed me that something has
happened to Little Noah. Apparently, the crystal chandelier in the suite has come crashing down.”
Upon hearing these words, a venomous glint flashed by in Viola’s eyes, but it was gone after just a moment.
Joseph bounced up from his seat with his expression darkened. His usual calm and composed expression took on a layer of
anxiety as he asked, “How is Noah now?”
“Mr. Beckham, you can be rest assured, a hotel employee managed to save him in the nick of time so Little Noah is unharmed.
However, he wanted to follow that employee to the hospital after that.” His assistant explained.
Upon hearing that, Joseph wanted to leave immediately and head to the hospital.
Viola shot a glance at Joseph’s suit hanging not far away and she carried it with her while saying, “Joseph, allow me to follow
you.”
