Pregnant And Rejected Omega

Chapter Her Wish

Harlyn

I glanced up, catching a glimpse of an unusual glow in Stefan’s eyes, which had me curious. I intended to get closer to him for a better look, but before I could, he swiftly excused himself and vanished from the room. Yet, I was sure of what I saw.

It reminded me of the radiant hues that dance in the triplets’ eyes when their emotions surge beyond control. This particular glow was unfamiliar to me until I witnessed it as the pups got older: Stefan mirroring Isaac’s fiery red. Thorin’s eyes are an icy blue, and Lotta’s golden yellow. But why did Stefan share this trait with them?

This weird similarity begged the question: what did it mean? I had never seen anything like it before, and even Wayne was baffled. Despite our efforts to understand the pups’ unique characteristics, we remained clueless.

The lack of answers left me uneasy, prompting a troubling thought. Is Stefan the one with answers about why their eyes are different? As much as I didn’t want to speak to him, he must know why his eyes glow. I need answers for the triplets and I have to put away my own feelings to help them.

“Harlyn!” Lucy interrupted my thoughts, drawing me back to the present with a warm smile.

"Princess Lucy," I say as I curtsey.

"You're coming with me," she grins and pulls me into a small living area and we sit. I see hurt in her eyes, and I wish I could help, but I know I can't. I'm exiled, and I don't even know if I would want to live here with my father anyway, even if I wasn't exiled.

"Tell me about your wedding, Lucy," I say, wanting to know more about it.

“I won’t talk to you,” she replies. Her words cut through the air like a knife, and I'm taken aback by her sudden change in attitude.

“What? Why?” I sputter in disbelief. I've done nothing wrong.

“You left!” Lucy screams, and tears spill over her eyes. “You didn’t even say goodbye, Harlyn. I had no idea you were leaving. I thought we were best friends.” Tears roll down her cheeks as she cries.

“I’m sorry,” I murmur. My heart feels heavy with guilt. I want to explain why so she has some answers, but I know that it would only reopen issues.

“Just promise me you won’t do it again,” Lucy demands. She is using her authoritative voice, and I know she is making it an order as the princess.

I offer a slight smirk and a nod of agreement. “Of course, Your Highness. I promise never to leave you in the dark again,” I joke lightly. She laughs and hugs me.

She smiles at me. “Okay, now onto the wedding. You're my maid of honour,” she announces, and I stare at her.

I’m taken aback by Lucy’s announcement, my mind struggling to accept her words with the reality of my situation. How could I be her maid of honour when I’ve been exiled from my family and pack? Even I know that I won't be allowed to take part in the wedding except as a guest.

“What?” I manage to utter. Surely, she realises that that is impossible. I don't even know if I will be here when they marry, I need to leave in a few days.

“You heard me, Harlyn. You are my maid of honour! No arguments,” Lucy insists. It’s almost comical how she commands me to accept that I am her maid of honour. I can’t say no and hurt her, but she needs to realise I won’t be here after a few days.

“Lucy, that’s impossible,” I argue. “You know I leave in a few days, and not only that, but I also...”

“Harlyn, the wedding is in tomorrow!” Lucy says, her smile growing. “I wanted you here with me, standing by my side. There are no excuses, none at all.”

There is, I'm exiled. I shouldn't even be back, so there's no way my father will allow me to be the maid of honour. He will remind the royal family I'm exiled.

“But Lucy, I was exiled from my family and pack,” I reply. I hope she’ll understand the implications of my exile. I can’t be there; my father won’t allow it.

“Who cares?” Lucy shrugs. Her tone left no room for further debate. “You’re my maid of honour, and that’s final.”

I smile, feeling happy that she is determined to have me as her maid of honour. Despite my exiling, meaning I shouldn't take part in the wedding, she is determined to have me by her side. I know my father can't stop it, he can suggest, but ultimately, it's up to the king. I'm sure not even Stefan will be cruel as to refuse to give this to his sister.

I nodded, silently accepting her decision, knowing deep down that I had always dreamed of standing beside her on her special day. We spoke about being each other maid of honour the entire time we grew up. We had planned our weddings together, over and over.

“Fine,” I reply. I accept her offer for me to be her maid of honour. She smiles and hugs me. I'm glad she and Samuel are mates; it will give me reassurance they are both fine when I leave. Colton however, seems too far away from finding his mate, if anything, he seems not interested at all.

"I wish you could stay here, Harlyn; three days feels like nothing when we haven't seen each other in over-eye years," she says. I nod, knowing that she wants me to stay, but it's impossible.

“Your Highness, my father won’t permit it. I also have a life away from here; I can’t simply abandon what I have built,” I explain. I have missed everything, though, and I would love to stay longer, but the thought of my father's response when he finds out has me worried.

“Will you tell me, Harlyn?” she asks. Her eyes begged me for answers.

“What do you wish to know, Lucy?” I ask.

“What transpired to lead to your exile? What grievous act caused your own family to cast you aside?” she asks. I go silent for a moment. How do I explain it to her? I know she will understand and not judge me, but I'm still worried.

“It’s complicated, Lucy,” I confess. The night is still in my mind, and I feel confused by it. I can't remember anything about the man, so how can I possibly explain it to her?

“I beg of you,” she pleads.

“That year, during my mother’s birthday celebration, I was...” I begin

“Forgive the interruption, Lucy, but I must speak with Harlyn on important matters,” Stefan says. I turn and see him behind us. Apparently, I have to speak to him now.
