The next day, at the hospital. 

Chapter 52 

Elizabeth had just arrived at the hospital when she was called to the director’s office. 

Compared to the director’s tactful attitude last time, he was much more direct this time. 

“Mrs. Hayes, I won’t fire you. Be sensible and tender your resignation of your own accord.” 

Upon hearing this, Elizabeth paused for a moment and immediately understood. Whether the patient submitted at complaint or whether Elizabeth had done anything wrong, Elizabeth would still lose her job. 

All along. Sophia had been behind everything. 

The first patient complaint was just a warning from Sophia, telling Elizabeth to be sensible and stay away from Andrew. 

However, not only did Elizabeth not do that, Elizabeth even humiliated Sophia yesterday. Hence, Elizabeth ended up losing her job today. 

After thinking it through, Elizabeth could not help but feel a little amused. If Sophia had the ability to make Andrew look at her in a different light, Sophia would not have only known how to play tricks behind Elizabeth’s back as she did now. 

“Okay, I’ll write it now.” 

In any case, Elizabeth was not happy working here. It was better to resign of her own accord than to be fired. 

After saying that, Elizabeth took a pen and paper from her uniform pocket and wrote the resignation letter in front of the director. 

After Elizabeth finished writing, she returned to the office to get her things and went home with a box. 

Upon arriving home, Elizabeth was surprised to see Andrew in the living room. 

Andrew should have been at the office at this time. 

“Why are you here? Don’t you have to work today?” Elizabeth could not help but ask as she looked at the man sitting on the sofa with a puzzled expression. 

“I heard you resigned?” 

Seeing the cardboard box in Elizabeth’s arms, Andrew raised his eyebrows, stood up from the sofa, and strode towards Elizabeth. 

“You’re quite well–informed. Elizabeth was stunned. She did not expect Andrew to receive the news the moment she left the hospital. 

“Didn’t I promise you to settle Sophia’s matter? When my men were in the hospital, they happened to see you coming out of the hospital with a box.” 

Andrew explained. He did not want to leave a poor impression on this woman as a surveillance freak. 

“Oh, actually, it’s good to resign. You don’t have to worry about me. When Elizabeth saw Andrew waiting for her at home, Elizabeth couldn’t help but feel a little touched. 

After writing the resignation letter and leaving the hospital with her things in her arms, Elizabeth felt unprecedentedly relaxed. At the same time, she had already determined her future direction in her mind. Even if she was temporarily unemployed, she was not discouraged by that. 

“To celebrate your escape from misery, I’ll take you out to have fun. Change your clothes.” 

As Andrew spoke, he patted Elizabeth’s head. There was a smile on Andrew’s handsome face as if Elizabeth was not unemployed but had won a big prize. 

Elizabeth pursed her lips speechlessly and could not help but size Andrew up. Andrew’s abnormal behavior really made Elizabeth wonder if his illness had acted up again. 

“What are you waiting for? Go change your clothes.” 

When Andrew saw that Elizabeth had been standing there without saying anything, he could not help but reach out and pat her shoulder. 

“What are we going to do?” It seemed that they had never officially gone out to have fun. 

Andrew did not answer Elizabeth. He just kept urging her to change her clothes. 

“Alright, wait for me then. 

As Elizabeth spoke, she carried the box and went straight upstairs. Since she had nothing to do for the time being, it did not seem like a bad idea to go out and have fun. 

About ten minutes later, Elizabeth changed her clothes and walked down. 

Elizabeth was dressed very casually this time. She was wearing a pink wool sweater and a pale yellow pleated skirt. She had on a pair of pink tube socks and black leather shoes. She looked very youthful. 

When Elizabeth walked down the stairs, Andrew could not help but take a few more glances at her. There was a glimmer in Andrew’s eyes. He had to admit that no matter what this woman wore, she could make the clothes look good. She was very 

versatile. 

“Let’s go, Uncle Hayes.” 

Elizabeth strode to Andrew’s side. When Elizabeth saw that Andrew was wearing a very strict black suit and looked unapproachable, Elizabeth could not help but tease Andrew. 

Upon hearing that, Andrew frowned. He looked at Elizabeth and then at himself. His face immediately darkened. Their ages were not much apart, but now that they were dressed like this, it did look like he was an uncle taking his niece out… 

“Give me a minute. I’m going to change.” 

After saying this, Andrew quickly went upstairs. 

Elizabeth shook her head in amusement when she saw Andrew’s awkward expression. Elizabeth thought, “What should I do? Andrew seems to be getting cuter and cuter. He’s casting aside his previous coldness and arrogance. This different side of him seems quite adorable.” 

To match Elizabeth, Andrew wore trendy clothes and a black baseball cap for the first time. He looked like a teenage boy who had just entered university. 

“I didn’t expect you to have trendy clothes. You look quite good in them.” 

Elizabeth could not help but take a couple more glances. She thought that if she had met Andrew at university, she might have been in a relationship with him. 

Andrew snorted a little arrogantly. He thought, “When I wore a suit, I could also charm those female employees in the company. Why did I start to treat this woman differently?” 

“Come on, follow me.” 

To maintain his previous aloofness, Andrew took the lead and strode out of the villa after saying that. Elizabeth smiled and quickly followed. 

This time, Andrew did not call for a driver. Andrew drove personally while Elizabeth sat in the front passenger seat. From time to time, Elizabeth would peek at Andrew. The more Elizabeth looked at Andrew, the more she felt he was handsome today. 

While driving, Andrew also saw Elizabeth’s little actions. He could not help but smile, and a trace of joy flashed across his dark eyes. 

“Well… let’s play a song. It was too quiet in the car. Coupled with the fact that the atmosphere seemed a little off, Elizabeth was feeling a little fidgety. 

Upon hearing this, Andrew pressed the button on the steering wheel. Then, a gentle and cheerful English song sounded in the car. 

While this song was playing, the car stopped in the parking lot of the largest commercial building in the city. 

“The steak and foie gras from the restaurant on the top floor are pretty good. Don’t stand on ceremony. It’s my treat today.” 

“Okay, thank you.” 

Elizabeth looked at Andrew gratefully. Elizabeth felt that Andrew had put in a lot of effort to comfort her, who was unemployed. 

“Let’s go.” 

As Andrew spoke, he grabbed Elizabeth’s slender wrist and pulled her toward the elevator.
