Chapter 66 Provocation at Koby’s Funeral

Resting himself against the back of his seat, myriad thoughts were running through his mind. As for the so-called embezzlement, he could prove himself innocent as Clarissa did exist and she had met many shareholders. It wasn't hard to find out the traces she left.

He could do nothing if those sophisticated old high-rank directors asked him to resign.

After all, Koby's death was an unflattering news coverage for him. He hastily posted a recruiting ad for a new secretary. To be honest, this position was a nice job with high salary and low risks, and female sectary could even make love with the handsome boss.

However, the ad said women weren't allowed to apply for the job. Five minutes later, nobody applied for it. Antonio started to doubt that he didn't give a wrong number in the ad. Then he removed the gender limitation and check the phone number before posting it again. Still, nobody called the company for details. He was sure that the news exerted bad influence on his reputation.

His eyes narrowed on his watch, then he quickly drove to the Baron family's.

It was Ivy who opened the door for him, and he asked her where were Adelaide and his grandmother, and Ivy told him.

When got to the garden, his grandmother was pleased and laughed at Adelaide's jokes. With softened expression, he joined in their chatting before leaving in hurry with Adelaide. He also ordered Ivy not to let his grandmother read recent news.

In the autopsy of Koby's corpse, nothing was found except the gape on his neck caused by a blade.

The murderers must have worn gloves as the police found no fingerprints. The fiber left in Koby's nails was from ordinary clothes that could be seen everywhere.

When Antonio told Adelaide the information, she sneered as she knew Clarissa must have hired professional killers.

With the help of GPS, he quickly drove her to Koby's.

Koby lived in an ordinary residential community without any security at the gate. After pulling up, they got off with the cash for Koby's parents.

After knocking the door open, they took in a pile of baby's necessities and toys for kids. Among the mess of shoes, Adelaide noticed a pair of expensive shoes. Her eyes widened as a familiar female voice was sounded from inside, then she lunged into the house.

The little girl in the house was startled and she hid herself into Clarissa's hug while a baby behind her was crying.

Clarissa was shocked as she looked around to find doodles on the walls. There's only a small bed in the room. In the corners were toy bears and the little girl's shoes.

She lunged at Clarissa and angrily grabbed her by the collar. "What the hell are you doing here?"

How could a murderer show up in the victim's house?

Clarissa's eyes shifted to Antonio, eyes filled with sadness and innocence, and the little suddenly cried. Adelaide quickly let go of her as she wanted to soothe the little girl. Upset and anxious, the little girl pulled back from her hands with tears on her cheeks.

Then Antonio led Adelaide to meet a middle-aged woman.

She was Koby's sister who had took her children to live in Koby's house after the divorce. Then Koby's father showed up with grieve. After a brief self-introduction, Antonio gave them the cash. Koby's father cried for his son in that his son hadn't marry a girl.

After Antonio's soothing words, he told Antonio Koby's funeral would be held in two days. Both Antonio and Clarissa said they'd attend it on time.

It was raining on the day of the funeral as if it was weeping for Koby's death.

Clarissa showed up again, though she wasn't invited. Adelaide wanted to warn Koby's family to stay away from the evil woman, but she had no proof. She secretly swore to put Clarissa into jail as soon as she got hold of her.

After mourning for Koby, Adelaide couldn't help herself but to warn Clarissa, "Can't you stay away from Koby's family?"

Clarissa arched her brow as if she was delightful to get rid of a great burden, which cemented Adelaide's determination to avenge Koby's murder.

Before Clarissa said a word, Adelaide grabbed her by the arm as words came thought her gritted teeth, "I swear to make you pay for his death."

"What a shame! You've got no proof." Clarissa flashed a devilish smile. "Poor Adelaide, you know Koby's sister has agreed that I'm her children's godmother. It's going to kill them if the police told them that I'm the murderer." Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Then, to render her words unassuming, she purposely acted as if she was deliberating the meaning of her words.

"How despicable you are!"

Adelaide clenched her fists.

Clarissa didn't care about her thoughts as she laughed proudly in her black suit which she hated the most. Tucking a loose piece of hair behind her ear, she stared Adelaide down. "Listen, Adelaide. Koby died for you as the dead body should be yours now. Want a revenge? Go to kill yourself."

"You!"

Adelaide knew what Clarissa meant. If Koby hadn't said he recorded the conversation, he wouldn't have been murdered by Clarissa. It was true that he died for her.

Adelaide was about to leave the funeral with depression.

When Clarissa grabbed her by the hand, "Koby has died, but his family are still alive. Their life depends on you. Don't make a bad choice, sweetheart."D
