Chapter 11
-Nathan’s POV-
I strolled through the streets and headed to the beach. Why the beach? Cause it was where I had tried to kill myself before. I crawled up the rocks onto a short stone cliff. I looked down into the waves as I sat, letting the wind blow onto me. In this place, it shows you that there is nothing revolving around you. The world continues to move while you sulk and die in a place. Which is why I had tried to kill myself here.
“Nathan?” Terui called out from the back. I spun around quickly and faced him. I sat there speechless as we faced each other in the most unexpected manner. I took a closer look and saw a guy standing behind him, probably the butler he told me about before. I stood up and walked towards him, taking precautions in every step I make.
“Terui, what are you doing here.” I blurted out, trying to sound as nonchalant as I can in front of him.
“I was just passing by when I saw someone here, so I decided to take a look.” He said with a questioning tone. I just nodded.
“About yesterday…“I started, before trailing off, hoping he would take back what he said.
“I gave some thoughts about it. I don’t think this can work out between us.” Terui said with a look of certainty reflected in his eyes. “You are afraid of me, which probably has something to do with your past and I don’t think I can actually be with you when you are keeping your distance from me. Also, I don’t think I am ready enough to help you myself. I have been through war many times and have lost a mate once. I don’t think I can actually handle it once more so...”
“I understand.” I just told him, unable to hear anymore. I am being rejected. I had known it all along, I guess. It was not possible to find love in this twisted world after all. They were right, as always, unlovable and just a pest.
I gave a slight bow as I watched him leave, possibly from my life. Just as I watched him leave, what my brother said hit me. You have changed. What a lie. I haven’t changed at all, the only thing that has changed is the fact that I have lost hope for anything else. I looked at the clouds above me, drifting.
What should I do now when I have nothing at all, I thought as I walked back home. Now I wished that he never appeared. I wouldn’t be like this. I wouldn’t miss him. I wouldn’t feel this dread and hopelessness. Gale was trying his best to break past my mental barrier, but he is weak after the rejection.
I should also be hurting like Gale. Whining. Begging to be taken back. But I’m not. I’m probably way past the point of return.
It was past midnight so I doubt that anyone will be out there to get me at all, not like anyone would care about me anymore. As I took a turn towards the forest, a black car crashed into me. A sickening crack sounded as the impact threw me off my feet. I screamed in pain when I felt my legs bent out of shape. My powers immediately kicked in and started repairing the injured areas as I struggled to keep myself awake. A hooded figure rushed towards me and held a soaked cloth to my nose. Chloroform! I tried to kick at my attacker but my energy was quickly slipping away from me.
“Bring him in! We have to hurry before the others come.” A rough voice said as I tried to keep my other senses awake. Others? As if they’ll care. I managed a grin. I’m finally getting away from this stupid place. “Sir, mission accomplished. We have caught a werewolf.”
“Finally. Hurry up.” A voice crackled from what I think is a radio.
“He’s still awake, knock him out.”
With that, I was pretty much knocked out of consciousness from a blow to the head.

-Jake’s POV-
I cuddled into my mate’s embrace as I tried to get some sleep. For some reason, I can’t really sleep.
“Jake? Why are you still awake?” Lucas asked, stroking my hair. I smiled contentedly as I felt his warm hands on my head.
“I can’t sleep. I feel like something out there is happening.” I told him, knowing I can trust him with anything. A sudden pain hit my head and I fell onto the floor.
“JAKE!” Lucas shouted in fear.
This pain, it’s not normal. I tried to stand but my head was spinning.
“Jake, are you okay? What happened?” Lucas asked worriedly.
“I’m okay, it’s not that serious. But if I’m feeling this much pain Nathan must be in a worse position.” I told him.
“Your brother?” Lucas asked, aware that Nathan and I were kind of connected spiritually. I can feel a bit of the pain he is feeling so I can tell when he is in serious danger. It was true that I had not been paying much to what was happening but I had always been aware of the pain he has gone through since I have to go through the same thing too. Which was why I couldn’t face him after feeling some pain in a few inconvenient places.
“I have sent a search team from my pack, it should only take a while to find him,” Lucas told me as he carried me back to the bed, careful not to accidentally hurt me.
I hope so, I thought to myself. My wolf just howled silently with my thoughts. The night was eerily quiet. Something big was happening. What was happening to Nathan?
I should not have waited for so long to reach out to him. Of course, he would be mad. If I was in his place, I would have blown up too. Guilt-ridden, I tried to close my eyes and leave it to the pack to take care of Nathan.
