Chapter Chapter Twenty-Seven: Kindred Awakening
"Hold on little one. Save your strength for the finale. Let them help you." a shimmering voice said in the air as Crystallina faded onto the bridge.
She floated up towards the second tier and hovered between Mike and Cassia. Looking at Mike, she touched his left forearm, the one posed to strike. The neon blue trace lights along his body began to brighten as the edges of his blades were covered in blue flames. She then looked at Jason as she floated down and landed in front of him. She studied Jason in his frozen form, balanced on the very edge of his tip toes with an outstretched arm as if he were about to take off in flight. She wondered why he was still in his human form. The sight of this abomination should've allowed him to take on his TRUE form. She dove into his mind.
When he first arrived, she only touched the surface of his mind because she sensed the Herion in him and new him not as an enemy, but almost as a kindred spirit. Now, she dove deep, deeper than her intended purpose as a strong force suddenly drew her in. Then, she saw his past. With much struggle, she slowly managed to pull out of his mind. She looked at him almost in complete wonderment and awe and now understood the reason behind the kindred familiarity and how he's tied into all of this. What she believed to be a Herion trapped in human form, turned out to be an actual human infused with a Herion spirit through some kind of quantum device, but what intrigued her was his mind. For that matter, the human mind in general, but his was truly unique. True, it is flawed and limited in it's organic state, but it's very consciousceness is truly a marvelous thing.
Granted his suffering was nothing in comparison to hers, but the abuse he endured led to all that hatred, the rage, and frustration, all of that negative energy to grow so powerful that it actually began to manifest itself into a life of its on....and now it's free. Leaving only a shell of a man to deal with the visceral images of his tormented history. The Herion spirit was only there to fill the void, but his mind was still in control. She couldn't explain exactly, but Jason was different from the other humans. He managed to unlock a small part of that power of the human mind, but that power is one of the most dangerous one of them all if not used correctly. Now she understood the purpose the Herion spirit. To give him control. Yet he still doesn't know he has it.
'So that's why the Elders put him to the test.' she thought to herself.
She dove into his mind once more, rearranging a few synapses and nuero pathways. She pulled back out again with a smile.
"He's not gonna like this, but he'll thank me in the end." She said to herself as she took in the scene once again.
