Chapter Passion 86

Chapter 86

Xavier looked at him intensely. “It’s okay. I’ve already promised that I would go.”

There was a flash of disappointment in Tristan’s eyes, and he couldn’t help asking, “Don’t you hater going to events like this?”

Xavier sensed his unusual behavior, and he said lightly, “There’s always an exception!”

Tristan did not stay long before leaving. When he went out into the corridor, he saw Yvette talking and laughing with the other staff. He had never seen her smile like that.

His assistant came over. “Mr. Shaw, Mr. Shaw Senior wants you to return at once.”

“Alright.”

At the special needs school that afternoon, Yvette walked into the newly opened music room. She sat in front of the piano and taught the children how to play.

Xavier stood outside the door surrounded by a bunch of bodyguards.

It was the first time he had seen Yvette play the piano, and she played very well indeed. The melodious sound of the piano seemed to soothe his soul.

Xavier focused on the light smile on Yvette’s face. He hardly ever saw her smile like that.

“You’re amazing, Ms. Snyder,”

“How did you do it?” The children looked adoringly at Yvette.

Compared to the other donors, they were more drawn to Yvette, who was also wearing a hearing aid. Perhaps they felt like they could relate to her.

Yvette told them that as long as they worked hard, they would all be able to excel.

Xavier waited outside for her the entire time. In the past, he had dismissed Yvette as a spoiled heiress who was completely useless. He was only discovering now that he was wrong.

As the visit drew to a close, Yvette said goodbye to the children one by one.

When she came out, she discovered that Xavier had dismissed the bodyguards and was waiting alone for her under an oak tree. He stood straight and tall under the tree, and his side profile was cold and handsome.

Yvette walked over to him gingerly.

“Mr. Lane…” She had just called out to him when she realized that Xavier had stubbed out the cigarette he was holding.

She was startled. She wondered when he had grown so addicted to smoking. In the past, he hated the smell of smoke.

“Are you done?” Xavier’s throat tightened when he looked at her pretty face, and his voice was

unusually deep.

“Yes.” She held out the little bag that she was holding.

He was confused: “What is this?”

“It’s a present from the children. There’s a painting inside thanking you for helping them build this school,” she said.

Xavier did not take it. “You can keep it.”

Items like those were just rubbish to him. He had never needed presents. Yvette knew the kind of person he was, so she did not insist.

“I’ll get going, then.” Since she had nothing else to say, Yvette turned to leave.

“Wait!” He called out to her.

She was surprised. “Is there anything else?”

“I’ve been waiting for you for four hours, Yvette.” Xavier said each word slowly.

She decided to take the opportunity. “Shall I treat you to dinner?”

“Alright.” Yvette hadn’t expected him to answer so quickly.

Xavier followed her back to Mansions Nine. The moment he arrived, he felt annoyed at once. This place belonged to Claude! His wife was living in some other man’s house? What would people think of him?

They would think that Xavier was so petty that he wouldn’t even arrange a place for his wife to stay!

Yvette did not know what he was thinking. She was planning to put something in the food so that she could achieve her plan that night. She ordered some food over the phone and told them to deliver it.

“Mr. Lane, you won’t mind if I order some home–style food, would you?”

If they ate outside, how could she make her move?
