“Alison,” Death’s voice rang in her ears. “The Soulless are here. You must be careful.”
Her memories poured through her, washing her out, stripping her clean. She felt frightened as she stood in the center of a cold dark room, staring at mirrors surrounding her.
She wasn't sure what she was doing there. Perhaps she had been transported there from the funeral home through the mirror. After watching all the memories fly past her eyes like pages of a book, she found herself in this room, unsure of what to expect.
"You killed our companion," A voice spoke loudly. "How dare a girl like you kill one of the Soulless." A dark inky monster appeared in the distance, rolling toward her on gelatin feet. She watched in awe as it zipped toward her.
Without thinking, she backed up, tripping on the floor and falling back onto the floor. She reached for her purse and athame but realized it had fallen from her hands when she had been jerked into the mirror.
She put her hands up instead to block the force of the Soullesses attack and found herself being thrown out of the mirror and back in the bathroom with Elizabeth and Josh.
