Chapter 3 The Hypocritical Benjamin
Chapter 3 The Hypocritical Benjamin
Madelyn was dumbfounded.
She immediately blushed and raised the paper bag in her hand, saying, "Mr. Clark, I come here to return the jacket to you."
Benjamin reached out and took the bag from her.
He nodded reservedly and said, "Thank you."
Then he directly walked to the elevator, not intending to talk more with Madelyn.
Madelyn got anxious and caught up with him. "Mr. Clark, I want to beg you to..."
Benjamin pressed the button of the elevator. The doors of the elevator were opened, and Madelyn cheekily followed him into the elevator.
Benjamin looked askance at her.
He looked at the mirror in the elevator and adjusted his shirt while saying in a bland voice, "I won't take your case."
Madelyn froze.
It seemed like Benjamin had learned what had happened to her family.
She asked in a soft voice, "Did Daniel tell you about it in advance?"
Benjamin locked her eyes from the mirror and smiled faintly. "He's not qualified to let me help him. Ms. Green, it's just because I like to differentiate private affairs from the business." Madelyn immediately understood. He would welcome it if she wanted to have an affair with him, but he wouldn't talk business with her.
She felt a bit embarrassed.
But Benjamin didn't intend to force her.
Although Madelyn was his cup of tea, she was not that attractive to be his exception. Moreover, it was broad daylight, he didn't have much sexual desire.
The elevator reached the 28th floor after this short conversation.
Benjamin's secretary was waiting for him at the door. She was a bit surprised when she saw Madelyn, but thanks to her years of experience and professionalism, she didn't show it on the surface. She still said respectfully, "Mr. Clark, Mr. Lucas has arrived."
Benjamin threw the bag to his secretary and ordered, "Send it to the dry-cleaning shop."
His secretary then left sensibly.
Benjamin lowered his head to browse the messages on his phone while saying to Madelyn nonchalantly, "You can go to the other lawyer. By the way, it's better for a woman to fasten her waistband." Madelyn thought he was so hypocritical!
After being rejected by Benjamin that day, Madelyn couldn't manage to meet him anymore no matter what means she resorted to.
Camila got more and more anxious and kept complaining, which put Madelyn under great pressure. She then asked Vivian Bryant out, her classmate at university.
Vivian got married right after graduation. Her husband was the son of a rich man in Gredax and knew many people.
Madelyn asked Vivian if she had any idea.
They met in a café and Madelyn told Vivian what had happened.
Vivian cursed at Daniel. When she finally calmed down, she asked curiously, "So, did you have sex with Benjamin that night?"
Madelyn blushed and stir her coffee slowly.
Vivian lowered her voice and said, "Madelyn, bravo! It's known that Benjamin has high requirements for women and he seldom has romantic affairs."
Madelyn said with a bitter smile, "I can't find any way out. Otherwise, I won't bother you."
Benjamin was very powerful in the lawyer circle. And Vivian would easily offend him if she helped her.
But Vivian was a true friend. She used her interpersonal connections to get Benjamin's agenda.
At three o'clock on Saturday, Benjamin would play golf with some guests in a club.
Madelyn followed Vivian and her husband into the club. But much to her surprise, Daniel was also there.
Madelyn was dumbfounded when she saw him.
Vivian pinched her husband's waist and complained, "Why don't you investigate it? How will Madelyn make it when Daniel is here?"
Vivian's husband apologized in a serious tone, "Madelyn, I'm so sorry. I didn't investigate it thoroughly."
When Madelyn was about to say something, she found Benjamin had spotted them.
He was in a white casual suit. He was tall and had chiseled features. He seemed to be the moon surrounded by stars when he stood among the crowd. Like that day, Benjamin pretended not to know Madelyn. He only said hello to Vivian's husband.
Vivian's husband felt extremely flattered and smiled ingratiatingly.
Benjamin acted as if he only noticed Madelyn at this moment.
Madelyn had fair skin and she especially wore less today.
She was wearing a white, loose T-shirt and a pair of light-gray sports shorts.
Her dark brown, slightly curly long hair was tied up into a bun, making her look refreshing and at the same time enchanting.
Benjamin swept his gaze over Madelyn's fair, long legs and said nonchalantly, "I've never seen this lady..."
